Pretty sure those were only for the games that were localized by XSEED Games like the Sky Trilogy. Zero and Azure as well since they were localized using the Geofront Translation.
I don't know why but many games today remove 2D cut-ins in special skills or they just use 3D models to replace cut-ins. Probably for decreasing budget or something?
Pandemonium Ruler definitely one of the best S-Crafts in the series. The English VA for Gerard was so good.

They changed Zin's VA though - in the Sky trilogy, it was Patrick Seitz. In this game, it's Vic Chao (Tseng in the Final Fantasy Remake trilogy)

Just finished the game yesterday, loved it. Also even after hearing the English dub I still prefer the Japanese VO.
So, inquiring minds want to know, do Calvardian chests have chest messages or are we doomed to have a repeat of Erebonian chests?

Getting rid of the cut-ins was objectively a terrible decision. It sucked in Tales of Arise and it sucks here too.
