Sherie's Ursula is perfect her voice is incredible and the acting is wounderful. The energy's amazing you can hear she had a blast playing the character truly killed it. Best live version❤❤❤❤
I saw them live on Broadway in 2008. Sherie must be seen live to get the full effect of course but I'm so glad we have these UA-cam uploads that present a definitive version of "live" Ursula.
Love the song, love Ursula's dress.And Disney surely can't be accused of making powerful woman look good unless they absolutely have to, do they? (I know, I know, source material. That would be the Hans Christian Anderson story on which the movie is very, very loosely based.)

I also read Ursula is Ariel’s aunt, as Ursula is the sister to Triton. He couldn’t/wouldn’t share the throne with her, as she was evil, so he banished her.
@Mr-tu4cj I'd argue that it adds more to the story, as, in the movie, there's really no reason why Ursula would hate Triton (other than the banishment, of course). It was always my personal headcannon that they were siblings anyway.
I like this interpretation more, but not because I thought Mcathery's interpretation was bad, she did really good as a vocalist myself, But while her portrayal is great, it is expected and predictable, while Sherie's approach is unique, more quirky and playful. And also this Broadway, they love there contemporary and operatic styles, so a lot rich well mixed belts and smooth legatos, with more laryngeal and soft pallet resonances. Broadway is also verry expressive which adds a flair of excitement to there productions.
I love these costumes, considering this was around 13 years ago, pretty impressive for the time and would be amazing even now, especially if Ursula were to be played in drag!
The costumes in this production got a lot of flack, but cmon now! They were meant to be seen in motion, and in the context of the show!! Everyone looks incredible!! The Ursula dress is a feat of creativity!

That was in the film’s early drafts. It was mentioned during Fathoms Below but it was cut, likely because it didn’t really add anything to the story.

Oh wow this is 10x better than Mcathery version.
I like this interpretation more, but not because I thought Mcathery's interpretation was bad, she did really good as a vocalist myself, But while her portrayal is great, it is expected and predictable, while Sherie's approach is unique, more quirky and playful.
