- In this video, Jen tells the story of a Guatemalan friend (who lives in Guatemala) who had a friend cause water damage in her home. The big question is how would this be handled in Germany vs. how it would be handled back in Guatemala.

Heute hatte ich eine Online-Deutschstunde und das Thema war "Heimweh" und das Gefühl, die Menschen zu vermissen, die man liebt. Ich habe das Wort "die Geliebte" benutzt, um eine Geliebte zu beschreiben. Mein Lehrer sagte, dass dieses Wort die Person bedeutet, mit der man eine Affäre hat. Das war ein lustiger Moment, den ich mit euch teilen wollte. ^^

Bevor man in fremde Wände bohrt, nutze besser einen Detektor für Strom und Metall.

Hallo, darf ich kurz fragen. Was ist die Unterschied zwischen „ ich habe dich lieb „ und „ich liebe dich“ ?

"Ich habe dich lieb. - I am fond of you (literally), but Germans use it to tell friends and family ‘I love you’.
Ich liebe dich - I love you (reserved for the partner only)"

Why did she say “ bei “ German Uncut, and not “ mit “ German Uncut? I thought bei means at a place mostly

Präpositionen (prépositions like bei, nach, von, über) are notoriously difficult, because they seldom match up 100% between languages.
Bei is often but not always a spacial preposition meaning close by(!), next to or at.
Bei Regen langsam fahren
Drive slowly if there is rain
conditional bei
So wie bei mir
As with me
(As in my position)
A lot of confusion is caused by the double life of many preposition as separable prefixes. Those belong to the verb, but sometimes get chopped off and put at the end of a sentence.
