I thought the 8 year was vastly different than their 4 year offering. It's really good juice. I have 2.
New Riff got me hooked with their "Malted" expressions and lately their Single Barrel is 😘😍 (got me enjoying it very much). This 8 Year old must be very good cuz haven't seen one around my area, but will definitely hunt for one.
I was at the distillery just the other day and got to try the 8yo Bourbon, the 8yo Rye, and "The Headliner," which was made with 10-year-old juice distilled and barreled when they first started operating. All 3 were superb!
Welp, to say that I’ve been waiting 8 years for this is an understatement, after having many excellent 4 yr SiB. Who’s running the show, Frank Ocean?

My wife got me a blending experience for my birthday at New Riff, which was great. As a bonus, she bought me whichever bottles i "had" to have. I just cracked open the 8 year and it is remarkable.

TL;DR I wanted to like this more than I did.
I've got a lot of the NR releases (regular bourbon and rye, SB bourbon and rye, Balboa rye, malted rye, etc.) and have been uniformly impressed with all of them. This 8 year release isn't bad, but it didn't have the "now-I-want-some-more-of-that!" reaction I was hoping for. I'm glad I've had it and not upset that I laid out the $$ for it, but I doubt I'll be trying to score another one.
That said, YMMV and if it floats your boat, that's great. Will also admit that future releases will undoubtedly be different than this one.
Here's another weird thing. Front label says "Single Malt"; back label says "... blend of up to six malts." So it's a blended whiskey, not a single malt.
I've had a few New Riff bottles and have always been impressed with them. Its definitely in my rotation.
Just saw it for the first time in my area. Got 1. Wish I had 2
I really did not enjoy this bottle. I stopped at the distillery on my way south to grab a bottle. It felt really dry to me.
Nice review, can’t wait to try this and like what New Riff is doing. Hope that continues under the new leadership team as Ken Lewis retired.
I picked up a bottle on release day at the distillery and really enjoy it. I like their BiB so this was a no brainer.
Michigan is horrible with allowing shipping of soooo many great items. I wish someone would create a "Smokey and the Bandit" type Bourbon shipping company that may "bend an occassional law or 2" to help us Michigander's out! ;)
I've resorted to just driving to Indiana and Ohio. Occasionally over to Chicago if business takes me there. Its not necessarily like night and day, but its close!
I've had some friends bring back Yuengling Hershey Porter several times. I just need to have other travelling friends looks for special bourbons. LOL.

Another awesome video. New Riff is definitely doing it right. That 8 year is fantastic pour and at $68 is a STEAL. Track one down if you can, you won't regret it.
I live in the vicinity and I've only seen 8-year at the distillery gift shop. Don't wait too long unless you're comfortable waiting for next year's release. I'm sure they'll be putting out 8-year annually.....
I've found this one on shelf for 90. Decided I'd wait until I find it at a better price. I love new RIFF Rye but their bourbon isn't as interesting. I'd still like to find one closer to $70
Drove up to New Riff a few weeks ago. Enjoy a flight at their Aquaifer bar. I purchased the 6 year malted rye bottle and almost left with this bottle also. It's that good of a pour .

Looking for one I haven’t had a New Riff yet but I figured I’d try this one if I see it. Never had a Penelope till I got the 9 year now I get the barrel strength and toasted. I’m sure I’ll enjoy New Riff. Nice review.
