Spot on! On those rare occasions I take a day off and do absolutely nothing, I genuinely feel guilty the next day. There’s always something that I “should” have accomplished with that wasted time relaxing.
Love the Michter’s American. You once suggested Michter’s American with a dash of Pikesville and my mouth just “watered”. Went and bought Pikesville. And it was, and still is, delicious!!! Since then, I’ve called the cocktail a “Daniel”! Cheers. 🥃
This is the kind of content we are looking for. The best youtube channels are the ones when the average person feels like they can relate to the channel. Keep up this good work! I enjoy this much more than the whiskey tribe content.
I love the worthless day notion! As an aside: I can't speak for everyone, clearly, but my kids are ----ing rad about this. They're down for everything from the grocery store to a walk in the woods, and they just have a great, silly time with everything. And as a dad, while it may slightly violate the idea of the worthless day, I get a kick out of introducing them to new experiences. So adding this idea of a worthless day to the mix sounds like a winner. Thanks! :)
Sitting in the dark and listening to new and interesting music is my worthless time. It never fails to bring joy and happiness to my soul. Good bourbon helps.
I'm worthless pretty often but the highlights are being it in good company. Come saturday I'll be it with my beloved younger brother, drinking great whisky and exploring the youtubes. Now I'm just reclined in my recliner chair in the mancave with a pour of Oban 14 watching you. Peace from Sweden brother. Keep up the good, hard work you're doing.
This is awesome. Just came here from watching a video of yours from 7 years ago. I see you are still here, sir. And that thirst for knowledge kept you here, my man. Cheers.
Sometimes the universe provides the things we need to hear. Took a new job recently where my workload is a lot lighter than it has been for the last decade. Been frustrated by that. I appreciate this reminder that it isn't necessarily a bad thing. Cheers.
So true! I have that tick in the back of my head that always says “you should be doing something productive”, I can usually silence it with a dram or two 😆
I chose to be sober for one year and this was the first Whiskey that I chose post sobriety. I actually did all this very recently and was looking for your guys review and also noticed that it was done a long time ago. I’m so thrilled to see it held in such high regard once again.
'We're busy doin' nothin' workin' the whole day through, tryin' to find lots of things not to do, We're busy goin' nowhere isn't it just a crime.... we'd like to be unhappy but we never do have the time', I always loved that song, cheers Daniel!
Back in my college days, a worthless day was called a Vark. A mash up of a meet up and adventure. Thanks Daniel for elevating the importance of having a worthless day. Cheers.
After this video I did two things. 1) Bought a bottle of Michter's American Whiskey to try. 2) I scheduled a worthless day with a few buddies. Thanks for both suggestions.
I have a sealed bottle of Michters American I bought after I found you that I'd been saving until after I finished some open bottles I might need to open up now. 🙂👍
Guess we've outsourced being worthless to politicians and quota hires. Anyway, from the title I expected a roast of Michter's Unblended so I was poised to call clickbait. Suffice to say, what a pleasant surprise this vid turned out to be. Lots of interesting information about Whiskey, life as such, and how to be worthless, presented in a really watchable, down-to-earth style. Nice! 🥃🥃
In the past you would take time off from drinking and do other type of shows. I always appreciated that. In the past few weeks I have had all sorts of "Alcohol Free" bourbons and scotches. I think it would be hilarious of during your alcohol free times to taste alcohol free whiskys.
In college, I called those Random days, in which I picked up a bag, went out the door, and walked until I saw something to do. When that was done, I repeated the walking and doing, until I was tired and walked home. Those were good days.
I Michters. I especially love the American. That mustiness, specifically, tastes like corn husk fungus to me. I like it. Right now, I found a bottle of Bakers 107 proof, which I can't often find, and I found it for a good price. Man am I loving it.
In Buddhism we call this "Shikantaza", the ability to just do.... nothing. We always have someplace to be and some task. Sometimes we can do better if we just do nothing. Even if it's just 15 minutes. Just sit, no plan, no task. Make a cup of tea, and know all you have to do is make that cup of tea but only if you want. Then when you drink that tea, all you're doing is drinking that tea. All the other things, save those to think about until later. Let yourself be "lazy".
I feel like I'm well ahead of the curve. I call it Sunday. Take a hike, sit on the deck , enjoy a beer, cook a steak, light a cigar grab a drink enjoy time with the wife or the kids if they show up. Every week Daniel!! Life is too short. Do it, I mean, do nothing!!!😊
I have my hour to three hours of enjoying my cigars and whiskey. But I need to learn how to be and have a worthless day. I am always on the go planning something. I haven't tried Michters yet.
A guy in my second squadron named Bacos did this as a cheat day since he had been working out hard, can't remember where all we went but essentially I had more food in that day than I had in a whole week lol.
I always suspected they added caramel color this one, because it looks so dark for being aged in used barrels. And calling it American Whiskey opens the door for additives (color and flavor). I don’t know why Michter’s has such a problem with basic label transparency (speaking of worthless:).
Good afternoon friend, I am delighted to be a follower of your wonderful channel, I love it and I send you my congratulations. I have a question for you, I would like to know the title and author of the painting that you have behind you on the table when you give your dissertations on bottles. Receive a cordial greeting from Spain
It’s a painting of the three wisemen by an artist from LA named Christian Bach. Can't find any other info about it other than that online. We bought it at auction.
Love the concept and have enjoyed several such days / afternoons in the past. Curious why sports is judged to be off limits? I'm not a sports junkie, but it feels like a perfectly worthless thing to argue about. As for the Michter's I wish they had a higher proof version. I too really love the taste, but it drinks thin compared to whatever else I drink.
Not a huge fan of Bourbon, mostly because of the new barrels. I've been meaning to try this one for a while but kind of forgot about it, so thanks for the reminder.
Rex needs to watch this video... I don't purposefully gather with people much, however I do enjoy just going with what I am feeling up for in the moment. But I do still feel the "I should be doing something" and that may be a bit worse when you are your own boss. I'll be sure to spend more time being worthless... I'm probably a bit overdue for it.
Easily one of my favorites. I rub a few drops on my hands and smell the notes that are left. So much vanilla. Reminds me of a beautiful woman walking into a room with no other goal than to make you happy.
Check out "Leisure: The Basis of Culture Paperback" by Josef Pieper. He explains why leisure is a core, but sadly lost, part of our being, and what leisure truly is.
Worthless Day sounds like the grown-up version of a highschool summer day where all of your friends are off work and have some disposable income but not a clue what to do with it. I think I'll be forwarding the video to a few people.
Having “worthless” days (or times) has actually been shown to increase cognitive function, creativity, and problem solving. You’re not actively engaging your brain to noodle on stuff which allows your mind to process things in the background…often coming up with ideas. Hence the trope of people coming up with eureka moments in the shower or on the toilet.
I love Michter's American. It is a satisfying pour and a great value; comfortable easy-going and well made.
Spot on! On those rare occasions I take a day off and do absolutely nothing, I genuinely feel guilty the next day. There’s always something that I “should” have accomplished with that wasted time relaxing.
The wisdom here is rock hard.
Love the Michter’s American. You once suggested Michter’s American with a dash of Pikesville and my mouth just “watered”. Went and bought Pikesville. And it was, and still is, delicious!!! Since then, I’ve called the cocktail a “Daniel”! Cheers. 🥃

A worthless afternoon... What a smashing idea. Our culture definitely needs more of these. Thank you again for another wonderful conversation. 🥃😉
I love the worthless day notion!

First Vault I’ve seen in my feed for about it 6 months. Could listen to Daniel talk stories for hours.
I feel so validated, this has been one of my faves for years now! Nailed it on the head, super easy-drinking and pleasant.
Sitting in the dark and listening to new and interesting music is my worthless time. It never fails to bring joy and happiness to my soul. Good bourbon helps.
I am predominantly a malt whisky man, but I have had this dram, and it is good.
As an Englishman it's one of my favourite whiskeys. Just costs a lot to get in the UK.
truly enjoy Michter's American... I prefer it over their bourbon.. it's my official 4th of July dram
Hands down, this was the best whisk(e)y tube video ever.
This is awesome. Just came here from watching a video of yours from 7 years ago. I see you are still here, sir. And that thirst for knowledge kept you here, my man. Cheers.
I like this idea. Can't wait to move back to Texas and do this with friends. I'm going to grab a Michters on my next liquor store visit.
Solid highlight. I realize I have discovered the same concept with a regular group gathering. “Not boring” people is key.
Sometimes the universe provides the things we need to hear. Took a new job recently where my workload is a lot lighter than it has been for the last decade. Been frustrated by that. I appreciate this reminder that it isn't necessarily a bad thing. Cheers.
It's only slightly sweet and so easy to drink. I make no apologies, it's one of my favorite pours.
We do this in Brooklyn once a month. It usually doesn't end well, but we're better for it. Cheers.
So true! I have that tick in the back of my head that always says “you should be doing something productive”, I can usually silence it with a dram or two 😆

Have never tried it....but now I will
Much needed, and that is a great pour! 🥃 Cheers!
That sounds like the most productive thing I've heard in a while!
Cheers.
Please Michter's never ever stop!
Wonderful advice from Daniel, a real lifestyle guru of the highest order.
After this video I did two things. 1) Bought a bottle of Michter's American Whiskey to try. 2) I scheduled a worthless day with a few buddies. Thanks for both suggestions.
i love the michters sour mash, it is also aged in used barrels, very light soft and sweet similar to an irish whiskey
Michter's Unblended American
Whiskey and J.D.'s Single Barrel Select are my two favorite American whiskeys. Both are fantastic products.
I love Michter's entire line, but specifically their rye. Makes a fantastic Manhattan. Love the "worthless day" idea! Cheers brother!
That's my favorite whiskey for an old fashioned
I have a sealed bottle of Michters American I bought after I found you that I'd been saving until after I finished some open bottles I might need to open up now. 🙂👍
Michter's American used to be hard to find now I'm seeing it everywhere. Your first video started me looking. I should try it again it has been years
Spiritual vid…play is a forgotten art. Have never tried michters American and now I have to!
Even if I got a spare couple of hours always feel like I have got to achieve something... about time I tried some _worthless_ . Cheers
I don't drink anymore (been maybe 5 or so years), but when I did, I loved Michter's American.
Guess we've outsourced being worthless to politicians and quota hires. Anyway, from the title I expected a roast of Michter's Unblended so I was poised to call clickbait. Michter's was a huge surprise. I entirely agree with you.
Also, you're talking about a gaming group that never discovered gaming lol.
As a Christian, I observe the sabbath. Every Saturday is a worthless day to just lay around, hang out, and enjoy to the fullest.
Greatest idea I’ve heard in a bit.
In the past you would take time off from drinking and do other type of shows. I always appreciated that. In the past few weeks I have had all sorts of "Alcohol Free" bourbons and scotches. I think it would be hilarious of during your alcohol free times to taste alcohol free whiskys.
Michters American is actually what introduced me to whisky tribe vault channels ect shame it's limited time
Your worthless afternoon sounds like the definition of our local pipe club meeting.
In college, I called those Random days, in which I picked up a bag, went out the door, and walked until I saw something to do. When that was done, I repeated the walking and doing, until I was tired and walked home. Those were good days.
Love this...I submitted a form and would love to start one here in upstate ny
My favorite old fashioned! Thanks for this one. I'm trying to be more useless myself these days.
I Michters. I especially love the American. That mustiness, specifically, tastes like corn husk fungus to me. I like it.
Right now, I found a bottle of Bakers 107 proof, which I can't often find, and I found it for a good price. Man am I loving it.
Couldn't host, but would love to join one. Please do this.
So, just went to the site. Thanks for organizing this.
this "worthless day" idea is pretty much how we do weekends here in Brasil.. if you ever come down here, you'll love it
Thanks for the video 🥃

Sounds GLORIOUS!
Daniel, So True my friend. worthless sometimes is very relaxing
Sounds like a good time!
I'd love to see the Unblended American in a 10 year bottle and/or at cask strength.
A guy in my second squadron named Bacos did this as a cheat day since he had been working out hard, can't remember where all we went but essentially I had more food in that day than I had in a whole week lol.

Great idea!
Still a good pour for the price. See it under 45 around Austin.

@WhiskeyVault Thank you very much for your response, receive a cordial greeting
I wish we got this in BiB or CS, this is delicious.

I don’t always drink Michter’s American, but when I do, I drink it while watching a cool Sade video …
Oh sure, put together Worthless Gatherings just AFTER I leave Austin for Colorado. Ha! It sounds like Michter's American may be my kind of pour.
He does!! Dude's gonna burn himself out right now
Easily one of my favorites. I rub a few drops on my hands and smell the notes that are left. So much vanilla. Reminds me of a beautiful woman walking into a room with no other goal than to make you happy.
Cheers 🥃
I naturally do this a lot.
me having this video on in the background while I try to finish work....
Worthless Day sounds like Dante’s 1st circle of hell. Gonna try that Michter’s.
Dosent Uzbek whisky partly use rice malt. Just asking.

Welcome all Whiskey Vaulters to "Being worthless" Advice Time with Daniel!
Being a farm kid, relaxing was viewed as a waste. Took me a long time to relax. Kids helped
So is this just the used cask component of Early Times bottom shelf? (probably aged more)
Sounds like that was a really fun, valuable "worthless " day. Cheers!
cheers! worthless activities - great concept too.
Worthless Day sounds like the grown-up version of a highschool summer day where all of your friends are off work and have some disposable income but not a clue what to do with it. I think I'll be forwarding the video to a few people.
Sir, I'll have you know I resemble that remark!
you know how i name such a day?
Saturday
in Europe.
the one whiskey to discuss side by side with their rye
Now I need to go home and pour myself a glass!
For the valuable algorithm🎉
I absolutely feel like a total ass if I dont spend my days off working on something. Housework, yard work, cleaning, something
So this bottle is fine. I bought my first one this week. I just feel it's over priced
Do they give the barrel a second char?
I don't think so, but I don't actually know

Roam where you want to, roam around the world. I'm going to organize a "Worthless Day".
Love Michter's American Whiskey
Unfortunate juxtaposition of the word worthless and the whiskey name in the title
I am a master of relaxation!! Just ask my wife 🤣🤣
So you basically did your own version of Ferris Bueller’s Day off.
He kinda had a goal though
If you're an alcoholic, worthless days will happen all on their own
My dad used to be a workaholic and I followed suit as I grew up but we are much much better about taking time to just do nothing.
