The final 30 mins are a master class in directing dark humor and choreographed to perfection!! The way its juxtaposed with historys real facts, rights a terrifying true event. And Tarantino pushes the brutality just to the right edge. Thank you both for the platform!!!
I've watched this movie so many times now. I have it on every platform. DVD, Blu ray, and 4k. Everytime I watch it I fall more and more in love it. So quotable. The best is the easy breezy part. "15 years you'll be living It"
That Brad Pitt driving sequence where he listens to all those tunes is part of his character and the story. It’s showing how far away Pitt lives from DiCaprio. Pitt drops him off at the end of the night and is told to be back at the butt crack of dawn. Pitt lives far enough away that we get like ten songs on his drive! He drives back to his craphole and we know he’s gotta sleep and make the drive all the way back in the morning for DiCaprio. He works so hard for this dude! And it’s genius that DiCaprio has fame and fortune and seems to be bothered by his own life while Pitt is a taxi driver who lives in a dump but doesn’t seem bothered by any of it. Cool little thing I noticed in the film.... just before Pitt is about to fight Bruce Lee, he puts his drink down on the back cab of a truck and we hear a gong sound like a king fu fight is starting in an old action flick.
What still blows my mind is that this is the only time leo and brad have been in a movie together!!! Would love to see them more together. Its definitely my favorite tarantino movie!!!
Tarantino's best film because you can feel the love he has for this era and the fine American cheese of TV detective and western series and spaghetti westerns. Peak Tarantino is when you can tell he wishes he was there and also changes history to fit that fantasy once in place.
I'm late to this party, but ref Bruce Lee: I didn't see it as a slight at all on him. From a narrative standpoint, it told me that Cliff was capable of holding his own against someone as good as Bruce was. Between that and the gun on the table in the trailer scene, it told me that Cliff was a dangerous guy if he had to be. Also with the driving angles: First time I saw that "overhead pano" I can recall was Brad Pitt in the Oceans series. Great episode, just got my sub!
Totally do a filmed full episode - with missing reels and everything. Also, no one seems to mention that QT made sure that Leonardo’s feet were also featured (the pool shot).
Growing up in Hollywood in the 70's, Hollywood Blvd looked pretty much the same as it does here in the movie. (It was on a decline then and didn't change much until the 90's.) I wish I'd know they were filming, it would've been fun to see it. I went on a date to the Van Nuys Drive In, lol. I think it was Ghostbusters! 😁
@@raidersofthelostpodcast_ Actually, it was kind of a dump (the drive in) and I never went again, lol. But I felt like that gave a bit of insight to the situation of Brad's character as well. Like, no one wanted to live in Van Nuys then. Lol.
Watched it for the First Time yesterday! I was so Not Looking Forward To the Murder Part of the Manson Story that it kinda blurred up my appreciation during a lot of the movie before it. I'll have to watch it again for sure, now that I know that it's not really the focus of the film and we were given a pretty cool Fictional Alternative Ending! Too bad it really didn't end that way.. I'm someone who has worked in the Entertainment Industry most of my life, so I'm a sucker for anything LA and Hollywood when it comes to movies and everything else!
My favorite part when I first saw this in theaters was when Rock gets the flamethrower and trumpets start playing and everybody gasped even before it showed he had the flamethrower cause everybody knew what was about to happen 😂.
for me the best review I have seen so far. You are the first who actually mention and anlyse a lot of Scenes related to Sharon Tate and who she was as a real Person and also when Rick actually meets Sharon .How it possibly will Change his Life completely by possibly get the oportunity Starring in a future Polanski Movie.
3 hours of one of my favorite movies on my favorite movie podcast, cant wait!
