Is it a good idea to mount an amplifier directly in front on HVAC though ? Blowing hot air on it in the winter. In the summer when you get in it's 120°. Blowing cold air on it is going to cause condensation. Heat and water do not mix well with electronics.
I'm not sure if you noticed but there are two additional bolts underneath the carpet on the passenger side that aren't used by anything. they are 10 mm I believe so you can make a bracket to mount to those I think that's what they're there for is for the factory OEM stuff???
I've done this several times... It seems ghetto, but in truth that Velcro will hold the amp in place real nice, at least until you get into in accident, and then there's amps, crossovers, and DSP's flying everywhere...
Hello ... great video watched it many times. You have so many great suggestions! Can you tell me the brand of the 'threaded rivet gun' you used. I'm searching and can't find one that would allow me to make threaded rivet through the carpet like you used in your video. Thanks any suggestion would be appreciated. Danny
I know this is a wicked old video, but... are you not concerned about 1) the heater blowing across the amp all winter and 2) waterproofing those holes that were drilled in the floorpan?
Can you show a video on how to put an amp in a 2016 Chevy Colorado extended cab,I was thinking of getting a Rockford Fosgate T 750x1 bd amp to put in my Colorado show me where you would mount it,thanks
How to prevent car audio stereo from being stolen you guys spend time installing audio gear and us as customers in merchandise and thefts take everything . thank you for your amazing videos
Great video again you guys! Hey I noticed that there's a lot of Pioneer products around just in general with your videos and stuff. Plus I've seen you and Fernando wear their t-shirts too. Well one Question, how high is Pioneer ranked in your opinion based on sound, performance, and quality to some of the other well known brands like Kenwood, Alpine, etc.? Thanks!
Dean, nice video. I am glad that you are doing a series like this. One question for you though, do you paint the rivets black to match the mounting plate? it would seam strange not to.
No they come brass and honestly never thought to do that. We try to put them some places we can cover back up if what we did needs to come out. Good idea though.
I would like to have a bracket made for my 2016 jeep renegade trailhawk driver seat. It has an airbag strap and may have captive nuts under it. Do you have the ability to do that?
nice but instead of removing seats im going to try to glue on some heavy duty Velcro strips and see how it goes. its a faster method, but I know screwing in into place is probably the best way to go about it.
wherever you can easily reach it afterwards. I suggest in the trunk, and also close to the amplified subwoofer if it's for a sub. That way you could change the gains and see the changes in real time without having to break your neck.
I want to mount my 4 channel under my seat, but living in an area of the country where using the vehicle heat is a necessity I have concerns of the floor vent causing the amp to over heat. Have you ran into this issue yourself or heard of someone having a problem with over heating?
Yes there are vents under both seats. Only thing I can think of is making some sort of cap to close off the vent for the colder months. Then I could take it off for the summer to use the AC to keep it cool during the summer.
Do you guys still follow this videos comments? I just tried to do this and let's say I'm frustrated. The holes on the plastic didnt end up lining up. Plus the screws dont go easily into the inserts. I did something wrong. You guys make it look so easy. Plus the metal in my nissan frontier 11 isnt flat it slopes down I matched that but the inserts dont seem to like it.
I'm thinking of a small powered subwoofer under my MY06 Forester's seat. Should I route the air vents for the rear passengers? Would blowing hot or cold air directly on the powered sub cause any issues for it?
Five Star Car Stereo Cool. You know what I mean! Subaru has kits to route around their own boxes, but I'd need to make something up for the Pioneer TS-WX120A. I just picked the smallest and cheapest one with a brand name... Are universal ducting kits available?
HEY GUYS, WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE ROCKFORD FOSGATE Power T400X4ad & THE Power T750X1bd FOR AN UNDER SEAT PROJECT IN A 2015 OUTLANDER SPORT? I HAVE A BIG INSTALL & WANT TO KNOW IF I CAN DO THIS TO MY COMPACT SUV?
Leslie Dell so that is one of the nice things about living in Florida, we very rarely need heat. With that being said we take it seriously. We do one of 2 things depending on the customer wishes 1- we make the amp rack so it mounts above the vent make sure not to get in the way of it. 2. Remove the vent at a joint and duct tape it off.
Leslie Dell I don't think it would be all bad. It is not like you are running the heat on a hot summer day. Running the heat on a cold winter morning could bring the amp up to operation temp. Remember they have minimum operating temp too.
MrAT8383 depending on the make contact the manufacturer and see if they sell them. Make some out of plastic or metal, Home Depot. If worse comes to worse there is always Velcro.
Trying to learn here.... but why do all this? You punctured the floor here with the rivets, so why not just use the amp's mounting tabs and run 4 screws through the floor? That would be 100X easier and arguably look better, without that plastic tab at the back like that.
Cory Williams+ I see. Not all vehicles have this. Many times the 4 seat bolts go straight through the floor. You can pull the bolt, look through the hole and see concrete below the car. But I can see this car might have a hollow brace that the seat mounts to in the back. Good stuff.
As an alternative you could glue a large piece of ABS or plywood (painted) under the carpet and have all your wiring pass through the carpet and screw into the ABS or wood through the carpet.
The plastic mounting plate gives a nice flat surface for the amp. Without the mounting plate, the amp may not lay flat with the carpet, padding, wire harnesses and anything else that can run under a seat,. Also, with the mounting plate he only had to drill 2 holes into the body vs 4 holes, the fewer the better. If you can find a place to mount the amp without drilling any holes into the body, that would be even better. If you must puncture the floor, then threaded rivets are ideal because they don't weaken over time.
Jason Myjak in a car like his there is a couple different ways. Sometimes there is a factory ground point under or around the seat. If not the side frame rail works. Sometimes there is a front seat rail also that works.
velcro is great for DIYer but if a shop cut corners like that on an install for me I would never recommend that shop, unless we agreed to do a cheap half-assed job to save me money.
seems like putting the amp anywhere near the path of a vent is a horrible idea. I think from a lot of your other videos I remember seeing a lot of florida plates but from what I gather its not uncommon to see temps in the 40s during winter so I can see people needing to turn on the heat. other than that you have no idea where the car will end up and putting an amp behind a vent putting out hot air seems like a horrible idea.
"In this video we just wanted to show you how we mount ..." 🤣 Now i know why the lady in the beginning of this video was smiling .... 😁 (look closely ...)
It's nice to see a place that takes pride in their work. Very nice install.
Thank you
Yes exactly. My installer just left them laying around under the seat. 🙄 so annoying. Sometimes they end up in back seat.
Now where do I ground it?
@@terryreyes1125 that sounds like a liability. Did you have to sign a waiver?
I mounted a kenwood mono amp under the passenger seat of my 2016 wrx using really wide Velcro tape and works like a charm, no drilling.
woohunter1 if it works why not. We drilled into the seat rails so it did not poke out of the bottom of the car.
Is it a good idea to mount an amplifier directly in front on HVAC though ? Blowing hot air on it in the winter. In the summer when you get in it's 120°. Blowing cold air on it is going to cause condensation. Heat and water do not mix well with electronics.
Run mine under a seat like that for 40 years with no problems

just use large velcro strips under the amp which will grip the carpet under the seat easily.
Bro you're a genius thank you. 🤣
If you live in a place with snow your amp will get wet with salt water from your shoes in the winter.
I've done this several times... It seems ghetto, but in truth that Velcro will hold the amp in place real nice, at least until you get into in accident, and then there's amps, crossovers, and DSP's flying everywhere...
Yeah not sure how I feel about that. Thats asking for a short if it does happen to move and hit the metal on the seat frame.
Its awesome that you guys are doing install videos now. I have been following your instagram page for awhile now. Love your wiring!
Thanks

I think he drilled through carpet?
I got a question . I went to home depot and they don't have the 1/4" ABS . Where can i get this from ? Thank you
irokdastar go online to eBay, sign shops also have Sentra which they often use
Amazon has tons of options as well.
Buy a plastic cutting board. Made of same stuff.
I know this is a wicked old video, but... are you not concerned about 1) the heater blowing across the amp all winter and 2) waterproofing those holes that were drilled in the floorpan?
Love the install videos! Keep up this style please!
Thanks that is the hope.

what blade are you using on your table saw to cut abs?
Nice video. What kind of Rivets did you use on the carpet?
I will add a link in the show notes, thanks
+Five Star Car Stereo thanks man this will help a lot. 🙂
Would you have problems with the air vent hitting the amp or wires? Overheating or moisture??
Do the rivets pierce the metal floor of the vehicle or just the carpeting?
If we have to do it we usually do the seat mounts. It is double metal and does not go out side the car.
I would like to have a bracket made for my 2016 jeep renegade trailhawk driver seat. It has an airbag strap and may have captive nuts under it. Do you have the ability to do that?
I was hoping you guys would do some install vids or custom jobs, good video
How do you Score , or what does he use to score it?
nice but instead of removing seats im going to try to glue on some heavy duty Velcro strips and see how it goes. its a faster method, but I know screwing in into place is probably the best way to go about it.
I got a 08 Pontiac vibe where is the best to put the amp I dont want them on the sit

you could do that. or mount it in the trunk, either on the back of the back seat or somewhere else.

I did something wrong. You guys make it look so easy. Plus the metal in my nissan frontier 11 isnt flat it slopes down I matched that but the inserts dont seem to like it.
Where do you guys get the ABS plastic from
I get mine on Amazon, or could get 4'x8' sheet of HDPE from Menards and similar stores.
nice work dean
Thanks stay tuned
For mounting a amplifier which one is better mdf or abs
abs plastic
I'm thinking of a small powered subwoofer under my MY06 Forester's seat. Should I route the air vents for the rear passengers? Would blowing hot or cold air directly on the powered sub cause any issues for it?
nchia I would close them off or re route them. The heat would be the big issue
Five Star Car Stereo Cool. You know what I mean! Subaru has kits to route around their own boxes, but I'd need to make something up for the Pioneer TS-WX120A. I just picked the smallest and cheapest one with a brand name... Are universal ducting kits available?
nchia we just use plastic and build what we need
I wonder what size rivets did he use?
Can you tell me what is the best grounding spot under the front passenger seat on a 2013 impala
Not many have the clamp tool to use for mounting screws
HEY GUYS, WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE ROCKFORD FOSGATE Power T400X4ad & THE Power T750X1bd FOR AN UNDER SEAT PROJECT IN A 2015 OUTLANDER SPORT? I HAVE A BIG INSTALL & WANT TO KNOW IF I CAN DO THIS TO MY COMPACT SUV?
Could a jl audio slash 600/1v3 fit under my seat of my subaru 2019 crosstrek
So what do you do when you have a vehicle with heating ducts under the seats?
Leslie Dell so that is one of the nice things about living in Florida, we very rarely need heat. With that being said we take it seriously. We do one of 2 things depending on the customer wishes 1- we make the amp rack so it mounts above the vent make sure not to get in the way of it. 2. Remove the vent at a joint and duct tape it off.
I almost never use the floor the floor heat, I just wonder how it would effect the Amps if it was used for a long period of time.
Leslie Dell I don't think it would be all bad. It is not like you are running the heat on a hot summer day. Running the heat on a cold winter morning could bring the amp up to operation temp. Remember they have minimum operating temp too.
Excellent work
I have an amp that doesnt seem to have any mounting tabs any suggestions on how to mount?
MrAT8383 depending on the make contact the manufacturer and see if they sell them. Make some out of plastic or metal, Home Depot. If worse comes to worse there is always Velcro.
your amp may have come with some in the box. sometimes they use rubber tabs that slot into the metal casing of the amp to mount it
Trying to learn here.... but why do all this? You punctured the floor here with the rivets, so why not just use the amp's mounting tabs and run 4 screws through the floor? That would be 100X easier and arguably look better, without that plastic tab at the back like that.
firebirdude2 it gives you something to mount the amp to. You don't want to screw to your car floor directly.
4:47 Are you not going through the car floor directly in this video?
Cory Williams+ I see. Not all vehicles have this. Many times the 4 seat bolts go straight through the floor. You can pull the bolt, look through the hole and see concrete below the car. But I can see this car might have a hollow brace that the seat mounts to in the back. Good stuff.

Just a quick question was Fernando working with you when you made this video?
Yes he’s out that day for family reasons
How much does a install like this cost
Had to rewatch again
How do you ground amps under seats??
Jason Myjak in a car like his there is a couple different ways. Sometimes there is a factory ground point under or around the seat. If not the side frame rail works. Sometimes there is a front seat rail also that works.
thanks for response.. I own a ridgeline and everyone tells me, ground to seat frame, which I heard is bad. mix opinions..
Jason Myjak I would never recommend grounding to a seat.
Why not velcro the hell out of the bottom?
Doesn't work well and the heat from the amp will make the glue crappy on the velcro over time.
velcro is great for DIYer but if a shop cut corners like that on an install for me I would never recommend that shop, unless we agreed to do a cheap half-assed job to save me money.
Thanks for this great video!
Can you sell me this amp rack for 2022 honda accord
cannot do this bud i have a puegeot 307 and there is no room under there
:40 he meant 'amp', not "seat"
I'm surprised that the amp actually fits under the seat. My passenger seat is slightly raised to accommodate the sub.
+MsCelicagt4 lots of room
do recommend ribbits ?
I personally hate frog very much, they make my skin crawl.

It's a pretty small amp, pretty sexy.. lmao. Throws that in there..
I feel like a dummy. All these years I never thought to unbolt the seat and lean it. I always wrestled those bad boys out then back in! 😣
+repairdrive you have to save your back.
old school dean video 🤣😂
"In this video we just wanted to show you how we mount ..." 🤣
Now i know why the lady in the beginning of this video was smiling .... 😁 (look closely ...)
Why would you drill a hole on the floor in that car!?
To mount the amp. He put in nutserts. You can hit it with an encapsulator from underneath if you live in a rust belt.
Don't do it, it makes them harder than hell to steal!
That's right
He he how we mount it 😆😆
when you all going to do a impala
