- Hearts of Iron IV: The Great War, an overhaul mod for HOIIV, puts you in the position of one of the countries of the world in World War One's time period. Imperial Germany and Austria Hungary battles for imperialism and territories against France, The United Kingdom and Russia. In the previous video they ended up in a long hard fought war against the Entente, however, this time, they come better prepared!
The Great War Mod can be downloaded from the Steam Workshop. Its definitely worth a try as it is very well made!
This WWI timelapse has been simulated by AI in the video game Hearts of Iron IV by Paradox Interactive.

I like how Germany tries to go through Belgium but ends up encircled.

In this mod ai germany sometimes endlessly naval invades 2 spots in Belgium without a port

One thing I really don't like about HOI4 is how nations will fragment their armies across multiple theatres, you'll face Russians in Belgium for example. And half the game their divisions are flying all across the map like idiots.

I never understood how they cross the Baltic, considering how historically the Baltic Sea was probably the most heavily mined place behind the North Sea during the war.

well, they actually did something, romania stopped one of the biggest central powers offensive at the battle of Oituz and battle of Mărăşeşti and that helped the allies a lot.

Thanks for the support. Copiers can always be expected that is unfortunately how it is. But it motivates me to keep up the game and to keep improving. For me the flags are just the beginning, there are many more ways to improve timelapses so stay tuned!

I think the main problem with Ww1 scenarios is that the entente can can double the factories and fielded army which leads the the central powers fall after a few years
Also this is why that in the last one eaven thi Russia was defeated they still had 3 formidable foes that had time to prepare so in reality its just over when the entente is fully prepared
I totally agree with you. When I try to be Germany in WW1 mod (expecially in historical games) I always get rekt by the allies' factories. It's really difficult win a Ww1 game As the central powers
Well it is however a historical scenario. The allies in WW1 had at the end of the war such a supremacy in weapons and supplies that they just dumped thousands of artillary pieces and tons upon tons of gear into huge parking lots. The French army at the end of the war was almost 50% artillary. Factories and ressources wise the Entente was ahead for the whole war. As for manpower and raw number of soldiers, the Entente also outnumbered the Central Powers for the whole war, the only time the Central Powers had an edge was after the Russian collapse for the spring offensive, and even this advantage only lasted for a couple of weeks.
The Germans knew that if the war wasn't won in 1914, it was over for them. The Russian revolution was lucky for them and is a result of massive Tsarist incompetence. By 1918 Austria was on the verge of collapsing to nationalist factors, Germany had an internal revolution going on, The Ottoman Empire was also in a dire situation, retreating in every front but the Caucasus where they had like, no real opposition after the Russian collapse. And to add to all of these factors, the central powers had no extra manpower left and the population was starving because of the years of massive economic mobilisation+Allies blocade (this one is the main reason why the revolutions were happening all over them btw).
So the entente having double the factories and the manpower isn't that ahistorical, and actually is probably closer to what you would expect in real life. If you wanna balance the game you're gonna need to go in the ahistorical path. Maybe the mods developers should propose a balanced scenario and historical one?

Soa Crow no the Americans did. We crushed the Russians mobilized 1 Million men from the east and only lost because America brought 2 Million men to France and was the Factory of the entente. As made clear by the huge debts to America of Britain and France.

I think it was counting italy's factories before it joined
It seems that the creator only takes data every month or so and then averages out the gain in industry over the entire month so there's no sharp jumps in army or industry.

I always hate how armies get bogged down in Belgium as Germany, like it's really hard to get past when the allies spam 350 divisions at one tile
waffle it’s not that hard if you put 3000 CAS and a couple heavy tank divisions
I used 40 width inf at the beginning of the war, not hard. My schlieffen plan almost worked too-stopped at the gates of Paris. Still won, just took a few extra months than expected.

Yes, please continue the video/series. One thing I absolutely hate about some of the YT channels that does HoI4 timelapse videos is how they leave it unfinished, without a definitive conclusion.
If Germany hadn't been indiscriminately attacking every convoy ship they found at the Atlantic Ocean with their U-boats, America would never have joined the war, and if America hadn't joined the war, the Central Powers probably would have won World War 1. By 1918, the French line of defense was already very exhausted and badly demoralized, it wasn't a matter of if, but when, the French would collapse. The Communist revolution in Russia that led to the death of the Tsar and his family was a stroke of luck for the Central Powers, all that was left was to deal with the war weary Entente members to their west, overwhelm the French, shutter the British blockade, get supplies and goods flowing through again, and finally win the war. But then America came and relieved the western theater. The Americans really didn't do much combat wise, but their arrival revitalized the Entente and gave them the boost needed to push forward and win the war.
How did Germany launch multiple sea invasions into Belgium. Was there some naval action we did not see that went really badly for the Entente or was it just HOI weirdness.
I love HoI4 so much. despite it have some serious problems, it still beautiful to watch.

The Central Powers-Entente casualties ratio is appreciable (in favour of the Central powers): had less industry but managed to inflict huge losses on the Entente, kick Russia out of the war earlier than in real life and vanquish the rest of the Entente. Really nice

The most underrated channel
I kept wanting to swat my screen while watching this video. After giving it some thought, I realized it was because the movement of the units on the map were a lot like the movement bugs make when they're crawling around on a wall.

Also gotta love the constant buzzing of divisions left and right front and center. I end up trying to track where a division is moving more than the fronts themselves. AI mad weird with the constant shuffling of troops

Honestly, A-H was kind of the MVP. They were the bulk of the push that led to a huge amount of Russians getting surround in Poland, and that was probably the thing that led to Entente defeat.

You should really try the Great War Redux mod, it's much more detailed and generally is more suited for these kinds of videos.

The closest i can think of is the Ledger mod
i don't know if the mod has been updated and had this fixed but as Germany there was a focus that gets rid of the ahead of time penalty for planes and if you use it right you can get I think the BF 109 might be the inter-war plane but still its a hell of alot more effective than anything the entente can put up

(It seems like Tunesia exists also).
Spain is in the jaoanese faction.
The Commintern controls Italy (which has a bit of france) , Germany (with the Chezch territory), Poland, hungary, Iraq, Iran, Romania, Coratia and Serbia. (Yugo is kill).
The USSR also annexed Finnland, Bessarabia and the three baltic guys.
And do you know the different 3 small provinzes around slovakia?
They're independent like Triest.
