Love love Love this recipe. Now I've made a few times now, but the last time I didn't have zucchini so I replaced it with sweet potato! OMG, so these days I replace the zucchini with sweet potato for a slightly different taste. Thanks for sharing your recipe!
Holy smokes. Never seen your channel before, never made this recipe before. But now there'a a huge pot of it on my stove cooling down and OMG it is SOOOO good. Thanks for sharing this.
Going to make this soon, we were gifted a bag of lentil beans and have been looking for a recipe to try. My kids didn't like beans either and my husband is funny about what beans he eats but I've learned that if I make beans flavorful (not just salty), they'll eat them
Last Friday I went to "Carrabba's" and had this soup and oh my, it was to die for. I knew that I will find recipe! So glad I found yours. Can't wait to make this for my family.
This looks SO good. I can’t wait to try it and share this with my daughter for her family. We like to eat foods that are clean too. The less processed the better!
I made this and its sooo delicious! I used butternut squash instead of carrots because of what our household prefers. Very easy and filling. I recommend 💯!!!
I wish I was posting more of everything these days Naomi 😂 but I will sure try when I get back. My husband is finishing chemo for cancer this week and I hope to have more time to film. ❤️ I'm glad you love the recipes!!
One golden rule of cooking lentils: soak them for a few minutes before cooking. It gets cooked in 20 mins. I recommend the pink lentils. It's the easiest to cook and yummiest
Ok so I'm African American women and I have a warped view of Caucasian cooking. You stopped that!!!!!!!! I tried your recipe because It was similar to others that I've tried. It came out great and I also loved how natural and comfortable on camera you are. Thank you so much for this recipe and also making me a believer that EVERYONE can cook!!!!!
It's an enameled cast iron braiser that I got at Aldi a few years ago! I actually don't like their cast iron (it heats unevenly) but this one has been the exception. You can find better quality in Staub, Smithey, or Cuisinart.
You know, I don't own one (my family won't eat anything made in one) so I've never done it. You'd need to brown your sausage first then add the other ingredients.
This the first lentil recipe I've ever seen recommending the cook time for lentils to about 1 hour. Most recipes I've seen have lentils magically cooking in 20 minutes. Not mine...ever. I use both green and brown, and can not get them cooked in under 50 minutes.
No close up? I add a few bay leaves to mine, a squeeze of lime, cinnamon and frozen spinach at the end. No parsley, more salt and pepper than used here and thyme. I would have done italian seasoning, thyme, including the onion and garlic with the sausage, gives waay more rich hearty flavor, also do 1 can of cream corn, sweetness balances out the hearty and spice. I do sage sausage and also do a bit of red pepper flakes
my momma taught me at a young age to read food ingredients and if I couldn't pronounce any of them then we didn't need to eat them. Instill shop that way but now I educate myself about looking up ingredients that look fishy and if they are not real food then i wont buy it.
Nice recipe, I think the sausage will go great with the lentils, but an hour on most varieties of lentils is a long time cooking.. though perhaps it is because you salt first. hold off on the salt until just before serving and you can get this on the table with most common lentils 30 minutes faster.
Your technique could use a little polish to really get the most of the flavors out of this dish. Hot sausage is a great start, but add your veggies a bit earlier with some salt and your spices and sautee them a bit longer until at least translucent, then add a couple tablespoons tomato paste and turn the heat up until the paste starts to brown a little on the bottom of the pan, then add your lentils, sautee a good 5 minutes then add your tomatoes and stock before the low simmer. The extra browning and cooktime between stages deepens the flavors significantly.
@@FeastandFarmCooks I wish... Can't work overtime and manage all that. But seriously, try it out sometime. I used to do it almost the exact same as you but then watched Chef John do one on Food Wishes and it really did add a lot to the dish. Have a great day!
Wth! Didn’t even show the finished product. I was thinking there might be too much bulk for the amount of broth you put in and you wouldn’t even show the finished dish!
You have created a lovely blue zone dish, that is healthy and add longevity to your life!

Go for the pink lentils.
I make my own sausage and lentil soup, with spinach so good

Made this last week…fantastic!
We love it too. It's on regular rotation for us.
I have never cooked or ate lentils. I'm going to give this a try.
They are easy and a great option for non-bean lovers like myself ;) You'll like them!
I haven't either.
I'm going to buy the lentils this weekend is there any particular type or brand I should look for?
@@doctorwatson5910 Just brown lentils. They are in a bag in the dried beans and rice area.
Feast and Farm Cooks -thanks I'm getting really excited to try lentils.
Can you post more soups? The Thai soup you have has become a family favorite too. I love the fact they are made with real ingredients.

Wonderful! I'm so glad you like it.
I made this once and it was so good. I want to make it again I'm so glad I found your video again.
Save it for later so you don't have to hunt for it again!

Try that "golden rule" using green lentils. Your pink lentils don't even have a skin.
Looks delicious!! I love soup, think I could eat it every day.
Me too!!
Hi from TN. It's so good!

Hey neighbor!
Exactly what I was looking for.
Can you use 'Nduja?
Tell me what it is and I’ll tell you if you can. ☺️

You’re racist.
I made this for myself and finished the whole pot in two days.
I'm glad to hear you liked it!
Looks good, I will be using this recipe. However, I am going to sweat my veggies a bit more.
It's going to simmer for an hour, but sweat away.

@@FeastandFarmCooks Le Creuset and Martha Steward offers good quality dutch oven pots, as well!
I like to add some small shell pasta in it
Great idea!
Can you add pasta to this? I saw it in another video. I can see this with homemade bread. Great video! Thanks.
Yes I think you could! It's pretty hearty already so you may need to add a bit more liquid so you don't end up with a super thick final soup. --Rachel
@@FeastandFarmCooks I'm making it this afternoon. Can't wait.

Maybe. I would suggest trying it as written before making adjustments. I've never found them overcooked.
@@FeastandFarmCooks Yes. May I note that you simmer your soup for 1 hour. Not boil.
Where is the cabbage?
No cabbage in this recipe. Did you see the word Carrabba's and think that said cabbage maybe?
Where is the finished product? What the heck?

How strange, it was dished out into a bowl and one could see the soup.
