Thanks Cindy! I made this today for my family. They absolutely love Carabbass’s sausage and lentil soup. They were blown away by your version. They said they couldn’t tell the difference. Definitely found a keeper!
@@rosannataborn6072 canning is an AWESOME idea! It is a fantastic soup! Luckily it’s easy to make so if you can’t can it, it comes together in no time ! Glad I could provide this.
Oh wow!!! That makes my day!! I went fairly routinely to Carrabbas with a good friend that was good friends with several people working there.. so I got inside scoop! Lol! Glad you and your family are enjoying it😀!! I also have a posted video for Carrabba’s chicken soup that you and your family might enjoy too!! Tons of thanks for watching and commenting !!
@@cindycertified I’ll have to check it out! Yes, you’ve definitely cracked Carabbas code on the lentil soup and I crave it lol making it again today for my father in law who’s here for a visit
This is hands down the best recipe for this. I've tried the others, and while they're tasty, they become thick stew really fast. This version does fill you up, but it keeps you wanting just another bite. Dangerously good.
@@NeedleDrops THAT’S AWESOME!! THANKS! I make it quite a bit because it’s so good and the closest Carrabbas is 900 miles away ! lol! yes those little lentils can really suck up the stock! I like my soup to be soup too! So having that extra stock/broth on hand is good. I’m super happy YOU are happy ! Thank you for watching my channel and the awesome post!!

I moved to a state that doesn't have a Carrabas and I've been craving like crazy for this soup. I have to tell you Ms. Cindy that I just made a pot of this soup, and it's so delicious and taste exactly like the one at Carraba's. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe.🤗😄
We have moved a lot over the years and inevitably you find “favorites” you end up having to leave behind . Sometimes it’s those little things in life like a favorite song, a smell that transports you or a favorite food that brings a certain level of comfort. Your comment makes me super happy . I’ve tried over the years of compiling my “comfort food” that now I’m trying to share! I’m SO happy you enjoyed the recipe ! I also did a video Carrabba’s chicken soup you might enjoy also. A little more involved but it too is true to the restaurant. Thank you for giving “ me” a shot and for your very nice comment 😁😉
I absolutely love lentil soup and would imagine the addition of Italian sausage makes for a very hearty & satisfying meal. Definitely a dinner coming up at our house. Gracie!! 👍🥰😋
@@chancetreneza I hope you enjoyed it! It calls for 1 pound of Italian sausage . Just regular, not hot and spicy. Costco used to carry the sausage but no longer ( sad face) . I can find it where I live at Safeway stores called NEW YORK SAUSAGE brand . But yes! There is pork in the soup 😁👍 It’s the recipe for Carrabbas sausage lentil soup .
@@KevinStewart-uv1gd That’s intriguing. The restaurant uses a sweet Italian sausage which has an end result of chunks of sausage in the soup . Nduja has a more melting quality and with the Calabrian chilies a very distinctive flavor. So to answer your question . If you want the soup to be JUST like Carrabbas , then no you can’t use it . If you want a different version of sausage lentil soup , you can use it but adjust the other ingredients such as eliminating the black pepper and red pepper flake depending how spicey you want the end product to be. It would be interesting to try . It wouldn’t be the soup from Carrabbas but I think it would make a tasty lentil soup ! If you try it, please let me know how you liked it!
@@KrystinaMorrison Hi there! They are brown lentils and whole fennel. Also I’d like to tell you that I thought this particular Italian sausage sold at Costco was the best for this recipe .. my Costco NO LONGER CARRIES IT!!!😮.. I was pretty angry! I also use it in a rigatoni video and it’s just a great all around sausage . It’s called New York style sausage company .. mild Italian in fat links . Well I happened to see it at Safeway . So idk if you have a Costco and if they do/dont sell it or a Safeway but that’s where I get the sausage I use . Thanks for asking!
OH NO!!!😩..I definitely know how you feel ! Many places we lived during military life made it difficult to find A LOT of things . When you like to cook, it’s definitely a downer. Plus if you need something because you want to make it THAT DAY.. it takes the wind out of your sails to order it. If a recipe really peaked my interest, I would definitely order the spice(s) if I couldn’t find them . Didn’t have Amazon back then but they do come in handy now should you have an Amazon account . Depending on the recipe, I might be able to recommend a more common substitution or a deletion that you could get away with. However, some recipes I gotta say… if you don’t have that ONE spice.. you either order it or go onto a different recipe! Feel free to ask!!

I like to parboil the lentils first just to get rid of the black stuff. It may loose some nutrition but it has a cleaner taste.
Black stuff?? Maybe a different brand of lentils is in order??🤨🤔 I’ve never had “black stuff” but I do wash them per the bag directions !

The fennel is not ground, right?
