Shawn and Angie were THAT couple. Corey and Topanga were cute for a little while, but I loved the realness of Shawn and Angie.
For real
💯
Facts same here💯
Yeah me too they were the true OTP of this show.
Met Trina on the streets of Hollywood years ago. I think it was back in 2007 by a coffee shop. Trina is really sweet and down to earth. I think she’s a very underrated actress. She was very underused in my opinion. But she’s really a great actress.
I loved this show. They had so much they could’ve done with it. Wishing this sister much success in life.
They did everything they needed to do in the 7 seasons we saw Cory and the cast grow up for 7 years

*VERY MUCH SO*
💯
We were SO FORTUNATE to have lived then and experienced it, first hand. I try to feel gratitude about the nineties more than longing.
I never watched the show, but she rocked those hairstyles..
Vanessa Huxtable, too. Tempest (or her parents) always had natural hair.
I never did watch this show neither
And she did her hair herself because they didn't have any hairstylists on set that knew how to do Black hair.
What does that mean...non richly melanated person?
@@madhammer232 It's exactly what it means.. If you need to be schooled, ask one of you kids, or probably one of your parents in this case...🙄
the fact that she was only in ONE episode of GMW for a total of about 5 minutes--a crime. She needed more screentime
Her only purpose on the show was to put the nail in the coffin of one couple in order to promote another.
Uh no. She only joined the cast of BMW in the 5th season. She didn't need more screen time. Jack Hunter only appeared for one episode. Rachel never even made an appearance on the show. But I don't see you bitching about that you hypocrite.
@@LLSmoothJ True!
@@obvioushieidude7668 How is it hypocritical for someone wishing a character was on a show for longer than 5 minutes. Did you ever think that @BAFVintage enjoyed the character Angela more than the others? Why overreact over a little comment like that? And Rachel never showed up because the actress that plays her is involved in the adult film industry.
@@PlusUltraAdrian You missed my main point. Angela was a completely unnecessary character, as were Jack and Rachel. They were all simply late add ons to the series. So to complain about their lack of screen time is stupid.
I remember thinking what a gorgeous girl. Not surprised how she was treated.
i loved the fact when i watched them as a couple as a kid it didn’t even cross my mind it was a interracial relationship .. i jus loved them
I'm pretty sure it wasn't written that it was a interracial relationship because they wasn't expecting a black woman to get the role. She was probably the best at auditions and they picked her. Simple. Much like Save by the Bell, Lisa Turtle was originally supposed to be a Japanese girl. But Lark Voorhees came in a killed the role. So she was chosen.
Trina is a queen
I was so happy that they let her have natural hair and braids.
She was one of my favorite characters in the show.
I loved the college season. I loved Sean and Angela’s relationship.
I''m not sure if you just misspoke a lot but Trina didn't quit or leave the show. She was part of the final season and got her final episode before the 2 part finale. Her episode "Angela's Ashes" was a great sendoff to the character. The finale was full of flashbacks and clips from earlier seasons. They clearly wanted to focus on the lifelong relationships between Cory, Topanga, Shawn, Eric, Feeny, etc.
I always wish shawn and Angela got a spin off i was huge fan of them together ❤
She was so awesome on the show
She was also the girl who got shot on family matters 😭 That scene scared the hell out of me lol not even gonna lie. Damn why didn’t she just give them those damn shoes? 😭😢
Aw man, that was her?
Damn, that Da Brat-lookin' goon should've gotten confronted by Carl Winslow or the police.
She was also one of Pinky's tricks on Friday After Next😻
Rite and remember she had that 🔫 and still got shot over her shoes.
@@thetruesoulofanaquarius9302 Did she? I thought she got shot cause she refused to give up her new kicks.
@@kenterminateddq5311 she did get shot because of her shoes. Remember when she showed Laura she had that 🔫 to protect herself if she do get robbed for her shoes.
Laura thought about buying herself a 🔫 after she got her leather jacket took.
Her mom was my piano teacher in 2000.
I loved her character. It was one of my favorite shows growing up and I loved seeing a black girl on the show. She was one of my favorite parts in the show.
In a recent interview they had all together she said she wasn't on the shows because she was pregnant that's why you see her wearing big clothes and her family expanded so she wasn't able to continue doing shows she has a big family
Never knew Boy Meets World was based in Philly... I guess that's 1 of the reasons I liked the show!...
I had a huge crush on her back then. I watched it because of her and Topanga!
Wow! This was one of my favorite shows even before I had children and watched it with them 😂 good ol’ days
I grew up watching Boy Meets World. I rocked with the show already but when Angela's character was added it provided a new dimension for me as far as representation seeing a fellow black person on screen. Even in a majority White setting I feel like she represented the culture properly with her portrayal of Angela. It was unfortunate hearing what she went through behind the scenes, I could see it being lonely for her as the only black castmate. Especially with the racially tinged remarks she received from some cast mates & producers. I'm glad that she found the space where she could express herself & describe how she was feeling back then.
What school program do u sign up 4 that motivates u to say things like that? Blackb is a class/ status not a race...who gave ur family such a title?
Agreed that's why season 5-7 are still my favorites til this day. And I'm not even from the US.
I grew up watching this show. Thought Topanga was pretty. But when Trina showed up 😍😍😍😍😍 I had a crush.
Let’s be honest. people cared more about Shawn and Angela relationship than they did Corey and Topanga (I still hate that name 😁). I really hate the amount of racism she faced behind the scenes but sadly that’s what A LOT of BW in hollyweird faced then and even still now. She looked gorgeous and #BlackDontCrack she was older than them yet still looked the same age if not younger and even now she still looks the same while the rest have aged like milk
Hollywood is just not for us BW especially dark skinned BW. I really salute alot of these black actresses who have dealt with racism on sets of television shows and movies. It's ashame BW can't do their job without dealing with criticism or foolishness.
Omfg she was my crush. Like I had a crush on Topanga but an even bigger crush on Trina.
This is making me want to re-watch.
Bro no joke I was watching an episode of Martin and I could had swore it was her… in the credits it was confirmed. Crazy she was 10 years older than most the cast!
Yea it was you not trippin lol
That was lark voorhies
Which episode?
@@respectknuckles428 lmao no it wasn’t.
@@kimmiet1980 idk but it’s in her IMDb
She is beautiful.
She was an integral part to the show. I loved what she brought to the white washed dynamic. She was a natural and effortlessly BEATIFUL!♡🥰😁👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💯💯💯💯
She reminded me of Rachel True. I thought they were the same person then! What’s wrong with Thelma Hopkins! A strong black woman on a good show! Interesting I never heard this before.
I used to have a mad crush on Rachel True especially when she was in CBF and The Craft.
The guy who said it didn't mean it as a compliment tho.
@@hareemobduljawon You mean CB4 yeah but Rachel True is gorgeous she kind of looks like the singer Kelis a bit. But I hope they look her up next on Comedy Hype.
Thelma Hopkins was known to get very sassy at times. He was saying to tone down the sassiness and be more sweet.
@@larrymarshall8900 typo 😂. Good looking out 💯
Turn down the Telma Hopkins! 😆 Damn that's hella specific ain't it
Right?!
I loved her character and her relationship with the whole group. It makes me sad to know that she didn't have a good time on set 😞

Perfectly said!! my life is totally changed because I've been earning $15,250 returns from my $4,000 investment with Mr Chris Thompson.
To be honest I only invested €3,000 with Mr. Thompson at first because I was skeptical about holding crypto since the dip around April. Getting my profit gave me more confidence to trade with him again.

I'm glad to see Mr Chris Thompson mentioned here, my spouse recommended him to Me after investing £4000 and he has really helped us financially in times of COVID -19 lockdown here in Australia 🇦🇺
I loved seeing Shawn and Angie back then u didn't see many interracial couples I'm all for it, I love and miss the 90s❤
Not for nothing but if he said Thelma Hopkins tone that down that's not family matters that's a character from Good times.
Thelma Hopkins was the prettiest thing on TV for years.
Telma Hopkins played "Rachel" on Family Matters. "Thelma Evans" was a character from Goodtimes played by Bernadette Stanis.
I never realized she was the character I liked to watch, but now hearing it, I can see it
I love that will friedle tried to fix it onsite. Respect thet about him. Even before "woke culture". You can tell he meant no harm & educated himself!!!
I loved that show but I always knew race was going to be the reason why they wouldn't allow Shawn's character to end up with Angela. The way they did that reunion on Girl Meets World just proved that they only wanted white couples together. They only brought her back because the fans kept rallying for her return. I know because I was one of them. I was on their ass about it. So it's like okay, we'll bring her back to shut y'all up, but hahaha you're not getting the ending you want. Racist asses!!!
Facts especially in the 90s they didn't want a BW/WM as a couple on television
Just like Saved by the Bell Lisa and Zack had one episode where they hooked up and that was it.
@@thetruesoulofanaquarius9302 Exactly I remember that! And the actors were actually in a long-term relationship in real life back then.
Everything is racist in 2022. White people are evil and black people are oppressed. Stay woke my friend.
Lol "zaddy" wasn't having it back then. But, fortunately, he's tolerating it now.
@@srgavemetheglow1869 🤣
I was in love with this girl back in the day😍😍😍....it boiled my blood they had her on screen hooking up with one of them folks....
I always thought that she was put in the show due to the fact that they talks about shit in that show .. That show was deep and can teach any age or race about life group up and just important values .. I just finished watching the whole show from start to finish last month and damn even as an adult I still tear u with the passion and story arc In the show .. I always wondered why she left the show .. Her character went to go live with her dad
Dope story 👍🏿...I remember that show
Trina was / is gorgeous. They did her dirty. But I’m not surprised.
Wow! I really enjoyed the show and shawn and Angela's chemistry. I had no idea that was going on.
one of my favorite shows!!!
Damn this narrator mispronounced names and words the entire video haha
Right haha
It’s hard to take things seriously sometimes when that happens.
Lol, that shit threw me off, I'm like "Who?"
Why black actors seem to have to compromise or tone down their performances..she did what she was suppose to do..act
Heavy Gratitude for sharing .
Peace to Sho Nuff from Last Dragon.
I loved this show!!
Now we need a “Where are They Now?” for her off-screen life
Now y'all need to do a video on Maitland Ward and her *cough cough* new career endeavors. 😉
So fine
Great video
Going to keep asking. Wesley Jonathan, please.
3:55 They said, "you're being too black. Tone it down."
So you're saying black people all act the same?
Its funny how they get amnesia when racism is brought up. I never cared whether people like me are not having to deal with this during grade school. But its piss me off when people want to make a big deal about your race but lie about what they practice. One reason why I value my friendships more than just a chance meeting . You can keep your ignorant hate to yourself.
Best vid yet
I love them my sister and I were big fans of her because she looked like me❤
She ended up changing her name to Cinnamon and met Pinky. She joined his stable with Moet and Lollipop, but Lollipop was all mines
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lollipop? They call her Lollipop!
OMGGGG I knew she looked familiar 😨😂😂😂😂😂
I loved Angela’s character on that show!!!!
Both Ben and Fred Savage (original Wonder Years series) have been in hot water for foolishness as of recent. I remember only Will Friedel (whom always looked drunk or drugged out during later seasons of the show) and Shawn apologizing to Trina when this story was released a while ago. Smh
why did Rider Strong apologize?
@@miatheitgirl He apologized in how Trina thought it went down (that the cast was against her/told the producer they didn’t want her on the show); he didn’t know that’s how she felt at the time.
@@missbel8849 Thank you!
Wasn’t she in one of the Fridays? As Pinky’s girl
Yes she was
Yup that was her. You recognized it just like did. Friday after next
@@mdpo6419 I been meaning to watch the movie thought I was just high 😂
She was pretty. I think she was one of Pinky's girls on Friday After Next.
is he mispronouncing all their names on purpose 💀
Who would’ve thought all Shawn needed was a black woman
Controlling the authenticity how BW are portrayed on tv and film by those who haven’t lived or had the black experience because they aren’t black is always and will always be a problem. They cannot just let BW be, someone also tries to control and minimize blackness, but claim they aren’t discriminatory or racist. This is no different than what goes on in all industries. She was forced out through subtle racism period. Greatness is only reserved for those who aren’t black that’s what I got from how the show treated this actress. This is similar to now Disney treated Raven Simone and how Nickelodeon treated KeKe Palmer.
Anyone remember her in Friday after next
Can anyone link the podcast where they spoke about it? I haven’t found this anywhere on the internet
Only way I could turn down my 'blackness" is remembering when I went to private school. They wanted me to not be Me, talkative, you hit me ima "hit" you back girl, not wear legwarmers & to act "mute" basically. That's not the world life I lived tho, that's really harsh to say "turn down" knowing the system of the world wasn't designed that way for us....Turn down the "Mayberry" Andy Griffin 💩. There's other ways to talk to ppl instead of making them feel bad about themselves & situations they may have....
Last thing I remember seeing her on was "Friday After Next".
Had the biggest crush on this chick
I loved this show, especially when Angie’s character was added (she’s my namesake). I was pretty young, but I always wondered why the issue of her relationship with Shawn was never discussed- for me it was more about understanding the dynamics of it than being unsupportive. I thought it was such a progressive move to make at the time, but I also thought there should have been a conversation about it.
They did her dirty on set
Once again, the fact that shows from the 90s were cursed remains undefeated.
I stopped watching after Shawn and Angela broke up. I loved her character and she was the best thing for Shawn. Sadly not surprised they asked her to behave less Black. smh...
How do black people behave? Do tell.
@@jimduggan8962 According to ABC, like Thelma Hopkins. 😒
Corey had fine ass Topanga and Shawn was dipping in the chocolate
I was born 87. i used to watch boys meets world. On abc. Wen they had tgif. I can remember wen they had vader on there etc. i was in elementary school. but after Awhile watching it. I started notice trina wasn't on the show no more. Everyone else stayed around. racism is never goin out of style. some ppl might think it was the 90s. its racism its right now. And forever will be racism. I loved the show. being a child amped up to watch a new episode on fridays.
Had a big crush on her
💕
They should have kept them together and married 20yrs. The way they went about this was complete bullshiT.
Every pic i see of her online, she seems to be in a relationship with the actor from The Game. He played one of the football players on Derwin's team. He played the gay player who hit on Malik.
Great video, but the title “What Happened To 'Trina McGee" Of Boy Meets World? - Here's Why” makes no sense.
I grew up on this. Strangely enough, when characters “grow up” i found myself getting bored. This was the only show I thoroughly enjoyed once they passed middle school.
Dang she was probably about 30 years old by the time the show ended. She was way older than than the other actors
Its real unfortunate that both this show and Saved by the Bell had some controversy regarding their black actresses. I don't think it was necessarily "racism" more like bad jokes. And yes, bad jokes can be insensitive. Obviously, none of us will know the real truth of what went on. There's always going to be two sides of the story. And yes, black characters on shows like this are going to be the minority. You know what you signed up for. Personally, I think its great that her character did so much, and became a staple of the show. She could have been a one off character, and instead they made a bold choice to make her part of an interracial couple. Which at the time, was still a bit taboo.
Angie was one of Pinky's girls in the movie Next Friday
that was my show boy meets world
I liked that they didn’t address the “racial element”, because as a white kid in a white town who had never met a black person; it just seemed natural, and it never occurred to me that it shouldn’t be or was weird. If it had become a key element of their relationship, I think it would’ve stigmatized it, and the relationship wouldn’t have lasted as long.
I loved Shaun & Angela.... she balanced him....
Really wasn’t a huge fan of the show until they brought Anglea and Shawn characters together. you can tell they tried to whitewash her down to protect the shows image. I hate how Hollywood used young African Americans as tokens throughout the 70s 80s and 90s !! Thank God for Martin ,fresh Prince and living single not to forget UPN !
Angela and Shawn were endgame that spinoff does not exist.
i liked her on the show i dont know if she was on Girl meets world
Smh dark skin black women can't wear a scarf without haters hating
I think it was just an off-color joke that Will didn't understand the difference between comparing a black woman to a mammy stereotype vs Trina making a Jolly Green Giant reference towards him. Basically I don't think Will even knew what the mammy stereotype even was.
She was on Friday after next
👍
I believe that she is one of the girls that Pinky brought into the X'mas party in Friday after next.
If anyone has seen the documentary “An open secret “ then you know about the guy who played Cory..😐
