- Do you remember the days when TGIF wasn’t just the name of a place where you could get some weirdly shaped mozzarella sticks, but was also the Friday night line up on ABC that family’s gathered around to watch long before DVR and streaming were a thing? A time when we would Hang Out with Mr. Cooper before entering a Full house filled with Dinosaurs while we took things Step by Step because Family Matters. Well, in 1993 ABC would introduce a new show to their line-up, a show that would introduce the world to a teacher we all wish we had, a girl we all wish we knew, a friend we all felt like we knew, a family that felt real and a lead character that felt like us. For many of us of a certain age, Boy Meets World wasn’t just a show on TV, it was our lives in 24 minute increments. As we approach the 30th anniversary of the series we take a look back at just WTF Happened to the Boy Meets World cast!

Honestly, the show needed Eric to be a complete goofball in the later seasons to make up for going too heavy on the drama sometimes….

I always thought William Daniels was British when I watched it as a kid due to his proper demeanor. Of course the voice of KITT in Knight Rider just iconic.
I believe the whole cast is been quoted, saying that they thought he was British at first also

As I got older, I met so many people who LOVED Boy Meets World, especially those weren't the family sitcom types, they adored this show! I was lucky enough to be a part of the live audience for the episode where Cory and Topanga had just moved into the couples dorm which was a total dump. I also loved TGIF! It makes me think of a much simpler time in my life where my parents and I would just relax and enjoy the lineup after a long week at school. My personal favorite lineup was: Full House, Family Matters, Step by Step and Boy Meets World.
On a more personal note - I had my own Topanga who was literally the girl next door, we grew up together from the age of 7 and hung out all the time. Our moms were best friends and we carpooled to the same school. She'd always come over to play Nintendo with me, we'd go bike riding and go to theaters to watch movies. Everything seemed to be falling in place for us...but I chose to ignore her at a certain point in life and we drifted apart which I consider one of the biggest regrets in my life. Now she's married with a kid and yeah, what could've been. 💔
I also had my own Mr. Feeny, where i was Eric Matthews and was so lost at times post high school and my old teacher was a long life mentor...sadly he passed away from COVID in February 2021...

I always felt isolated. TGIF was a way to relate with people. I had friends but I always felt disconnected.
I still feel that way as an adult.
TGIF was also what I considered normal compared to growing up with a Schizophrenic mother that I loved very much.
For some reason, I always thought Eric was ALWAYS weird and goofy but since we are getting the show through Cory’s pov he saw Eric as cool (esp in season 1) and as he got older he saw that Eric wasn’t the smooth ladies man he thought he was

I also theorized that about Topanga was definitely Cory seeing her as awkward as he was a shy awkward kid trying to figure out his feelings for her

I was closer to 30 than 15 when BMW came on, so I think I watched one episode. Good to hear 95% of the cast is pretty well-adjusted and dont have criminal records or multiple rehab stays.

I still watch episodes to this day randomly sometimes. One of the greatest sitcoms ever. Love the Pod Meets World podcast as well. It’s seriously a treasure to listen to.

no mention of the two actresses who played the youngest sister morgan.
she was almost another judy winslow. she was there. then disappeared and not even referenced. then brought back , played by another child actress.
the funniest aspect of morgan, they brought back the character in "girl meets world". but she was played by BOTH actresses simultaneously. riley would speak to her aunt (singularly) yet the two of them would answer.

Maitland Ward’s autobiography is a good read. Still haven’t seen any of her “work”, but she made it sound very interesting in the book.

I remember being in my 20's when this show first aired. I didn't start watching it, though, until the 3rd or 4th season. I thought it was just a dumb kids show. I was shocked at how good it was. Silly, without being stupid. Well acted & written. It walks a fine line and thankfully never faulters. And a rare sitcom that got better as it went along.

The site took away my original name from registering in about 2005 or 2006 with YouT and assigned some User(number) bullsh at one point, after being used to my UA-cam name for about 10 years... if my experience is any typical I never take the numbers very seriously - I used the same four emails for different things for so many years, and if I remember correctly not all my emails were even treated the same, but sometime around 2012 they were 'reformatted' or something, I think when Google took over
I liked boy meets world, in middle school and I go back and watch it from time to time. My favorite character was Angela, and Will friedle was so great as terry Mcginnis in Batman beyond, and his many other voice roles were incredible! 😊
I watched this show a few months ago and I never cry watching things but I cried at the last episode

This show was my livelihood when i was younger. Never forget 5PM on weekdays disney channel. This, Lizzie Mcguire and Even Stevens. That lineup was GOATED.

mr.feeney is the greatest tv teacher ever. he wasnt the typical sitcom teacher/authority figure. he wasnt a bumbling oof or a party pooper trying make sure the kids had no fun.
he was a moral compass and a true teacher who taught life lessons.

I’ve rewatched this show at least 5-6 times during my several school breaks over the years, it’s a good binge and every year the messages of the show got deeper for me, I first started binging the show around 2015 when Girl Meets World was airing, and I immediately preferred the original to the spin-off despite me being in the spin-off’s target audience. Boy Meets World was such a timeless show and this is coming from someone who was born after the show ended.

One of the things I loved about this show is even though there were a bunch of kid actors you never heard of anything crazy happening to the cast as they got older. It's really wholesome.

Being a late stage millenial (born in 86) was so weird. Till i was 13, cell phones werent a thing. Then BAM! The internet age changed everything. Soany good memories. The 90s were amazing.
I grew up watching this show and binged it on Disney Plus. The actor who played the older brother of Corey went on to voice Batman in Batman Beyond he was the best part in terms of comedy.
Matthew Lawrence dating Chilli now is the most 90s thing to me besides anything that actually happened in the 90s
I grew up loving The Wonder Years with Fred Savage and loved Boy Meets World as well.
Both shows gave me lots of laughs and good memories of all the characters ❤❤❤

You've got Topanga, Pam Macy, Ashley Banks, Mr Sheffield, The Sherminator & the fat kid who takes the soccer ball to the nuts in The Big Green all truly at the pinnacle of their careers just giving genuinely everything they had left..

I always thought making Eric more of a goofball later was a way of showing through Corey’s eyes as he got older how differently we perceive our older siblings. When we are 9 or 10 they’re cool and awesome and the older we get the more we see their true personality.

Lee Norris was a recurring and eventual regular on One Tree Hill as Mouth. He was on the show for all 9 seasons.

I caught a few episodes, but this show debuted after i graduated from high school. Being an actual adult meant i had a job and much partying to do on Friday nights. I have since watched a lot of it on stream and enjoyed it. It actually made me wish i would have watched it during the original run.

Here in the UK, this was shown on channel4 about 6 months after it's initial run in the U.S. Channel4 introduced us to all the American classics such as Hill Street Blues, Cheers, Friends, The Wonder Years, Saved by The Bell, LA Law, Dallas, Dynasty, Sex & The City, Home Improvements...and hundreds more shows, too many to list. I loved this as a kid.

Unfortunately, most of the cast has been forgotten. The only real successful young actor from the show was Will Friedle. Funny thing is that I really dislike him in Boy Meets World growing up. However, Batman Beyond and Kim Possible are two animated shows that I really enjoyed.
In my opinion, Girl Meets World is the gold standard for how to do a nostalgia based sequel show.

not quite IMO. It wasn't terrible, but it deserved far better than what we ended up with. Being on Disney Channel really hindered the show's potential and part of the reason it ended with season 3 is due to the insanely dumb episode limits Disney Channel imposes on shows
Yeah I’m not sure how anybody could feel this way. The biggest mistake they made was catering GMW to kids, instead of the adults that grew up on the original BMW. Fuller House saw this and did their show the right way, which is why they ran for 5 seasons.
Nah, Cobra Kai's got that on lock. Yeah, it's a show sequel to a movie/movies, but still..."reboot nostalgia show." And it gets the gold, easy.

When it first aired, I never saw the final episode. Years later I got the whole series on DVD, and....the final disc is faulty and the last episode won't play. So I still haven't seen it. Fml.
we do know from 03-2012 lee Norris was on one tree hill right. and the reason he disappeared from boy meets world was because he lived in north Carolina and didnt want to be away for years so asked to be written out with the possibility to come back for a few one offs its funny because he was kind of in and out of one tree hill too and his character is "the flakiest employee ever"

I was also 11 when this show premiered, same age as Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel) was my high school crush. Glad to know she's aged very well and still looks fantastic!
"Boy Meets World" was one of my favorite shows, third only to "Family Matters" and "Power Rangers." There were some early season tomfoolery that never got mentioned (Topanga originally had a sister, and her parents kept changing actors, one of whom was played by one of the Monkees in a not so subtle way to get them to reunite for a song.) but for the most part it kept a consistent universe, which was revisited in "Girl Meets World." I own Maitland Ward's autobiography, "Rated X" and she criticized "Girl Meets World" as being too "safe."Her experience with the parent show wasn't really that good compared to the original cast as she was put into so many sexual and adult situations on the show (Jack and Eric lusted after her when she was introduced) yet she had to abide by a strict "family friendly image" that Michael Jacobs worked tirelessly to create, even when the show ended. He was EXTREMELY disappointed when Danielle Fishell appeared in "Maxim," and he nearly flipped a gasket when Maitland posted a bunch of risque photos of herself in a bikini. Maitland was originally supposed to have a cameo in "Girl Meets World" but those photos got her axed, and when she joined the adult industry, she was completely excommunicated from the BMW franchise. Seeing Sabrina Carpenter in some of her latest music videos, where she's showing way more skin than the BMW girls did when they were her age, makes me wonder if Jacobs will also excommunicate her if "Girl Meets World" ever has a reunion.
I actually think it’s beyond cool that each of the original cast was given directors credit for girl meets world. It could’ve flopped. Apparently, the spin off helped pro launch their pod meets world! I’ll have to tune into both.

Eric and Mr. Feeney were always my favorite characters on this show.
I really didn't like that they made Eric's character such a goofball in the later seasons, but... I guess that's what they thought they had to do.
There was, though, a later episode where Corey is being an absolute jerk to his older brother and yet Eric still had his back.
It was a sad scenario, but I still thought it was good that they aired it.
Reading the comments and nobody (including the narrator)mentioned squints!! He was in the first season for a few episodes and then he just got cut
