Something I haven't seen you do before with Hippolyta is use her on an an aircraft carrier loaded with planes. She refreshes ALL the of the planes to fly another mission.
Nice idea.
I've done it with airports on land but never at sea!
3:56 This screams ETEMINANKI start, as well as the Khmer are just an insane civ aslong as you can deal with Holy Site river placements, it's such a rush, this game is going amazing
ong like ytf
The dumb little bear slowly emerging from somewhere always makes me laugh, and the rocket bear did not disappoint lmao
Ahh, but it's a secretly smart bear.
Depends where the bear had been up till that point really!
Hippolyta has to be the best battle hero. Even though Beowulf can delete units inside city walls, Hippolyta can just bash her face against the wall over and over until it falls because she heals every time. Plus an extra attack to whatever you want.
She is probably my favourite. Beowolf for killing other heroes, Himiko for Economy, Hercules for Infrustructure... but Hippolyta wins every time
@@UrsaRyan I do wanna say Anansi is also useful for when you're in the Classical Age onward, Oya is just, very unfortunate as a Hero. She needs a rework.

£196 - With Buddhism as his motivation, King Jayavarman VII introduced a welfare state to fulfil the spiritual and physical needs of his people, and built the University of Sankore for their educational needs.
The desert shall be named the Sankore! With the university being the capital of!!
Welfare states have nothing to do with spirituality. The democratrs in America/Canada/UK try to do the welfare thing and they push abortion on everyone. Thats like, the opposite of spirituality.
I almost had to turn this video off when Ursa was banging on about feed the world, but when he finally saw sense and went for work ethic, well, that was just huzzah!
Huzzah! Also feed the world is still better XD Think of the pop, think of the extra tiles and districts!!!
Feel like I've been saying this on the last few, but I've been really looking forward to this Civ!
You can have more than one favourite, I won't judge!
Khmer is my pick for the best overall civilization in Civ6. There are better civs at particular victory types and play styles, but in terms of civs that can just take any start and run with it they're unmatched, IMHO. The extra growth and production, and how easy it is to turn that growth and production into culture, science and faith with them really gets their snowball rolling quickly. It's immensely satisfying to put together a huge mega-empire with them, then look up at the turn counter and notice it's still in the BCs.
Khmer Civ satifisies all my desires, Religion, Mega Growth, Great Amenities, Huge Tall City potential, and makes you focuses on aqueducts which also gets you to do some quirky Aqueduct/Industrial Zones adjacency for Mega Yields, they easily produce any kind of win condition honestly, all time favorite civ of mine! Domreys absolutely pack a punch, the Prasat is godly, along with me generally loving their aesthetics, the Khmer, hands down, are my favorite civ and I'd even go so far as to give them S+ Rating.
Khmer are S rated, absolutely agree - fantastic civ!
Hey Ryan :) lovely video. Just wanted to mention I have a coworker whose girlfriend is Khmer Cambodian, and she happens to pronounce it Kumai. That seems to be the consensus, though kumer also seems to be valid in anglicized.
Cheers! Man it's such a hard one. There seems to be about three different accepted prononciations and one no go from what I can tell. I try but noone ever seems happy, so I just cycle through them a bit!! XD
War + etenemanki + big work ethique + Pétra ! That my favorite kind of game
Sch a fun combo!
"My lord we need Food for our people !! We should build some farms and fishing boa. . "
"Pray. . ."
"But my lord. . ."
"Did i Stutter!??"
The grand lord George Micheal was a strange fellow, but his results could not be questioned. You just gotta have faith. Nothing more, nothing less.
Just here doing my part to defeat the algorithm.
Your service is appreciated!
That's a pretty exemplary start. If you'd had one of the AI wonders too... Yikes.
You can't have everything I guess, but yeah that would have been mad!
I absolutely loves this series
XD
This is my favourite civ in the game because everything about them appeals to the way I play: playing tall, heavy faith and culture, massive pops, futzing about with districts for more *maximum numbers* and so forth. Also, being adjacent to Cahokia as Khmer is THE DREAM. The mounds are worth designing cities around.
The Khmer in any game are just so good. Alltime favorite civ! 🇰🇭
Cahokia is always way more useful than I think it will be!
3:55 "Lots of marshes," *reveals 7 additional marshes* -- now that was timing!
When he saw this, you know his mind literally went "yep I have to now get the Eteminanki"
It literally did - I was just thinking about reeds and marshes at the time!
Wheeew that is one heck of a start for Khmer! Rivers for food and Production beyond your wildest dreams!
Such a fun map, really looking forward to it!
the classic 'avoid the settle & builder pantheons' choice on turn fourteen ;)
Both had been taken already = (
I'm a big fan of Khmer, this is going to be a great game. Passing on Reeds and Marshes physically hurt me though. The yields!
In the long run though it does make sense! Khmer heavily rely on River Holy Sites and it just makes them HUGE. Lady of the Reeds & Marshes is good fun though.
Yeah amenities remains useful all game, rather than just at the start - the amount of times you end up needing to remove marshes late game is crazy!
@@UrsaRyan True, I just got so excited when that massive marsh field appeared West of your cap. Turned out that was almost all of the marsh in your empire so it's probably good you didn't go LoRaM, but your amenity game is so strong anyway I'm not convinced you needed the help from the pantheon either!
I know you know how to play the game better than I but I feel Indrapura should have been placed one tile South West so Angkor Wat could be placed on the grassland hill in the middle of all that juicy marsh. I might just be Potato wannabe thump nail pilled.
-Churn the tea.
The best bit about Khmer is you get so much food and housing the start location literally doesn't matter - settle anywhere, focus more on workable tiles than the city itself!
Yay!!! My Favorite Civ!!!
I'm tempted to agree!
Thank you for bringing my country to talk about me, Cambodians 🙏❤😊🇰🇭
I'm kind of surprised that you didn't wait until getting Theocracy before building the Grandmaster's Chapel. I would think that the extra faith discounts in late game would be more useful than the diplo favour...
Yeah maybe - I was working on a "work on your weakness" basis - I had so much faith the discount wouldn't have given me much, but the diplo favour was massivly boying my votes and economy. Plus the housing on the walls was pretty handy too on some of my medium cities
Khmer has got to be one of the most fun civs to play
They really are - and this is without feed the world and all! XD
29:21 "Oh my goodness, Ghandi has 1200 military."
Ghandi's taking that "no shame in deterrance" policy very seriously it seems.
There is no shame in having 400 nukes
Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching!
Love your content 0052
How did Khmer become an insanely good civ ? He Studyed at the university of sankore
If you want to know, the name of the ziggurat is E-TEMEN-AN-KI, which means the house (of the) foundation (of) heaven (and) earth. your pronunciation is close but you seem to be adding an extra t or d after TEMEN.
To be fair it is quite confusing when you sound it out, it's also widely regarded as the Tower of Babel!
That was quite the strong start. I'm seeing a lot of islands out there.. Doesn't shout Khmer, per se. But I'm intrigued to see if you go for some of that.
The only thing I hate about this is the desert, but hey. Petra will take care of that.
Best bit about so much food is you can settle anywhere you want!
River? Check
Mountain? Check
Elephant Cannon? Check
University of Sankore? Check
Praise BE 🙏
nice ursa
"...lost a massive amount of units, but they all have been city-state units..." And almost immediately, your Archer dies :P
Sssshhhhhh
Ah yes the Coomer
I know what we gotta have!
29:22 _”There is no shame in deterrence.”_ -Guy that nuked me
Our Deterrence will be Elephants, and eventually Elephant shaped NUKES.
And elephant shaped GDRs
For the algorithm!!! Don't hurt me skynet
Skynet denounces you
Debaters only appear more infrequently later in the game because you choose them earlier in the game.
The game keeps track of which Apostle promotions you have chosen and will offer you more of the ones you have taken fewest, until things are more even.
If that's true, that's a mechanic I didn't know about till now!
@@UrsaRyan I am quite sure it is a mechanic. It is what makes Yerevan's city state power much better - it means you can keep taking the most optimal Apostle upgrades without having to care about them 'running low' (for lack of a better term)
nicenicenicenice
Are you playing with any mods that would make me unable to try this seed on console?
*'UUUUUUGE CITIES*
Best Civ in the game!!!!
Supermassive chonk cities!
@@RiverHolySitesGoBRRRRRRR Yeah, definately among my Top 3 civs. Maybe second place after Brazil.
the power of FOOD
The power of INSANE GROWTH 💹📈💹📈
Cre-ate-churr 😂🤣
Khmer and have a great time
I'm a little surprised you didn't load up the Knights of Solomon mod here. Seems on-brand for you to have Holy Sites providing you with food, production and gold equal to their faith adjacency. Obviously not nearly as good as voidsingers, but amusing none the less.
It would have been a lot of fun!
I love you ❤🇰🇭
Insane civ I can get 100 faith per turn in classical era ,with monumentality I can buy settler in 3 turn
Does the bonus to districts from gov plaza or diplo Q only come if the districts around it are already placed and built? Does 1 have to come before the other?
Aslong as the government plaza is built every adhacent district will get an adjacency bonus! It rewards you for making plans for districts in advance, especially if you have a Trip or Quad city perfecta with all your little districts linked in-between those 3 or 4 cities around the Government plaza!
@@RiverHolySitesGoBRRRRRRR I don’t feel as though my question was answered
@@ttmanx21 In short, it doesn't matter when you put down the government plaza, the adjacency bonus will still be there when it's built, no matter when you build it.
If I'm reading this right, you're asking whether the bonus appears when the district is placed or when it's finished right? The district needs to be finished to give the bonus. But district bonuses update with the game, so if you chop woods, build districts, remove rainforest etc as you go, you do change the adjacency of districts surounding them. SO they do update as you go, yes
@@UrsaRyan wonderful, thank you! I wasn’t sure if the bonus applied once just after it’s built of if it updates. That was a better way to word my question. 11/10 tyvm 🙏❤️
Holy sites on rivers!!! Too late...
Guess I'll get in here then
XD
Daily comment.
“Doing culture the aggressive way, the nasty way” oh didn’t realise this was a USA play through 😂
Haha - burn!
feed the algorithm
Feed it our love!
38:37, purple rain.
So where are you putting your Petra city?
You see that MASSIVE desert? XD
@@UrsaRyan It's almost a blight on the map honestly.
i never comment on stuff...but how dare you not go for reeds and marshes
Who dares wins XD
At *war* with Nation; at war *with* Nation. English is so weird. In the first sentence, you're fighting said Nation; in the second sentence, you are waging a war together with said Nation (against another).
