To answer this question for Potato (hopefully he doesn't mind): you'll only see the last 2 hours of the stream here until UA-cam processes the rest! Hopefully it doesn't take as long as the last one, but that was a much longer video (9 hours? vs 4 here)
Happy birthday! Your most recent series really helped me learn a lot about science victories. I decided to try out Arabia on standard and I got the victory on turn 300. I also got super lucky by being isolated on my own massive continent after taking out Scythian Empire and Japan. I'm a new player to Civ so that series in particular really helped with all the in depth tips. Love all your content and it's all a lot of fun to watch.
My friend got me into civ recently and I am totally addicted to it and watching you just makes me realise how much I gotta learn and it just reinforces my love for the game. Sorry for the late wishes but happy birthday.
I had a dream this morning that the ghost of Queen Tamar of Georgia needed me to help free the personification of the spirit of Georgia, which was actually one spirit per person. I really don't know why I'm telling everyone this. Happy birthday!
Man, I played Apocalypse Mode Yesterday and actually got to full CO2 levels for the first time. Of the first 4 comets that hit, the first one hit my second city and the 4th hit my capital. Both were part of a mega industrial complex that carried me through that game. Not to mention the wonders I lost. Still managed to win because I was on cruising mode to Diplomatic Victory, but boy was that painful.
Incredibly good set up, even Tamar couldn't wreck it. Enemies all 1 side, ocean and a city state everywhere else, very nice. Smart move eliminating Shaka early on. Happy birthday.
The other day, I started a game on deity with a standard sized map, but with 20 civs and like 30 city states on apocalypse mode. Got a diplo victory about 200 turns in from all of the aid requests lol
Maybe you did this already but would you consider a total war civ game where you have to declare war on everyone you meet the moment you meet them and you can never declare peace?
Happy Birthday! Only found your videos about a week ago, loved watching your over explained and korea one city challenge. Nice work and have a great year!
I BLAME YOU MCWHISKEY!!! I was in the grocery store today and saw the potatoes, and this sing-song voice in my head said.. “Boil ‘em, Mash ‘em, stick ‘em in a stew.”...
If you want the trophy for Diety difficulty really easy just make a two player game with the religious victory only and your opponent is mvemba because he can’t found a religion. Works best on island map because he also doesn’t like building a navy
I keep wondering if Georgia is basically a substitute for the Byzantines in this game (walls, defensive, faith based into tourism), or if they will be unleashed in the upcoming Civs. I have had many thoughts on how they could work in Civ 6 in interesting ways.
Left UA-cam on while I slept. Finished the first video, pretty short. Then ran through a 4 hour Spiffing Brit Civ5 video, followed up by a 4 hour Potato Civ5 video. Does UA-cam know I'm sleeping and puts on these marathon videos on purpose?
Missed this one by a long shot, but I have an aching feeling that Potato is going to get throughly boiled, mashed, and stuck in a stew. Here’s hoping that you don’t get swamped by Cyrus’s Immortals in the first 100 turns! 🤞
At 54:22 Mikey Bohmer donated A$5 through chat. I swear, on first glance my brain interpreted that as Mikey Bohmer donated ass through chat. Thanks brain...
Is it just me or wouldn't online be the hardest because optimizing eurekas, etc is way harder and worth less. Also, the AI's number of cities will give them a huge headstart in online mode.
This, also less turns to arrange units and plan attacks. Aside from the first few turns when enemy units vastly outnumber you, longer game speeds actually get easier and easier as the game progresses and you get your infrastructure up.
Somebody asked is the DLC worth the money? I was hesitant at first, but playing these new Civ over the past weeks has been a lot of fun. I played a game with Mali last night, I used the strategy I learned from this channel, and I had so much fun. I'm getting ready to play another game with hungry. And I've had my eye on Columbia as well, if you can afford it and you really want to beef up your game, I think the new content is awesome. The secret societies, Gyros, apocalypse, all add a new twist to the game and make the strategy that much more fun
I am not sure if anyone else has said this yet. But what I have found is once you have one crash on a game/save file, it will continue to have crashes. it just seems to be linked to that game/save and will continue when ever you play off that file.
2:05:27 Don't fisheries give housing though? I actually use them to increase housing in coastal cities beyond what would otherwise be possible until you get to those floating habitation dome thingies. You can cycle governors and get a lot of OP combos if you get certain benefits.
In my option, the following is the difficulty of the victories: (easiest) Science --> Culture --> Domination --> Religion --> Diplomacy -->Score (hardest). I put the Score victory last because the game usually ends long before you reach turn 500. Of course you could make a shorter game or disable all the other victory conditions in order to get a Score Victory.
I just came up with another idea for a brutal game. Primordial map with apocalypse mode on, sparse resources, no tribal villages or city-states, domination victory only and play as Kupe.
I was inspired to use the same settings as Mr McWhiskey in a Civ game this afternoon, except with all random civs. Potato runs into the Zulus, says "oh crap, I'm stuffed" and proceeds to wipe the floor with them. I, on the other hand, trample over Saladin, complete with smug look on my face, only to be met by the Mayans coming from the opposite direction. With crossbowmen. On turn 57. I'll turn back the way I came then I suppose...
3:01:08 I've been wondering about that, because I think the opposite -- if you can't build a lumber mill on it, but also can't build a district, wonder, etc., then there's no point to harvesting it because it provides a constant enhancement to the tile in addition to the enhancement of whatever you need to build on there to get the luxury. I would only harvest it if I absolutely needed the production/food in that instant, because otherwise there's this tile in my empire that is unchangeable that would be made more lame if I cut down whatever feature was there.
Happy birthday, great videos! I was thinking it would be funny if you could get Sean Bean to read some lines for your channel. "Potatoes, boil, them, mash them, stick them in a stew" and "Tea is just okay"
HBD! I'm curious how you learned about things like ROI and opportunity cost, you also mentioned decision matrices. Was it through finance, game theory, coding etc. I feel inspired to learn the theories behind the strategy. Open to recommendations of smart people to research or good resources.
An idea for amending the diplomatic penalty for occupying an enemy capital: "Each era that passes since the capital was captured reduces the diplomatic penalty by 1 (or 2)." This fits as other civ would naturally become more apathetic towards your previous aggression as time goes on. So if you captured an enemy capital in the ancient era then that would only cost you 3 Diplomatic Favour per turn by the Renaissance Era. Thoughts?
Scythia would have bought your Diplomatic Favor, but they didn't have enough money to buy 100. When an AI doesn't want to buy something, it gives 1 Gold.
Potato, why didnt you settle right of the vocane insted of left? 1- Wouldt it be easiear to defend; 2- More cience yelds which you said it was one of the reasons you settle there; 3- More prodution, sinte the city tile had 2 more production; ??? Keep the nice work
Grievances affect captured cities. The more grievances you have towards the original owner the more loyalty penalty you'll have. This then has affect on amenities.
I think at the question if you have a partner, does he/she play games too? The most supporting other halves, are likely to play games too and accept the partner streaming or editing for hours. Still there some tubers that play A LOT, and their other half is doing other stuff and sometimes show up in the vid with a kid or their own created work. But of course it's personal, but we here wants to know more...:) Because we love you!
@@Jolly_Dodger Ok, Captain Obvious, but it's not wrong to ask the question. If they want to inform you or not is up to them. Some ppl actually do inform followers of their life and some doesn't. They might don't do, if the question is never asked.
Was inspired to start a game woth the same settings. Started on 1 tile, surrounded by mountains and coast on all sides. How does tgis game think thats okay? XD
I will question your decision once more, but only because youre are the best civ player i know (and i mostly watch civ) and i hope to learn with yout awnser: at 37:00 you put your goverment plaza. Wouldnt it be better to put ar the 2f2p west Gori or the the 2food flood play closest to ondini and west Gori? There are less good tiles to work around (so less loss on puting the districts ?
I recently started playing Civ 6 and purchased all of the updates, since then I noticed my game crashing a lot more, this rarely happened with any of my Nintendo switch games
Nice stream. I am not game to play it on the highest difficulty lol. I would get owned. Do you always play fast movement and fast battles? And no music? Or do you only do it for streams? Just curious, that is all.
I always have the same problem with the BBG mod, I just rarely use it for multiplayer but it turns itself on on every new update its frustrating... at least you noticed it before you actually played :)
When I leave my UA-cam running all day. I end the day 1.5 hours into 4 year old Potato Lifestream.
Dude ikr. I just woke up to this playing

seems more like a diplomacy civ. early faith synergizes with diplomacy wonders, and faith based unit purchases to cover protectorate wars.
