This is really fun to watch! Afternoon Tea is one of our FAVORITE thinkgs on Carnival! I sure hope we can try out Holland America someday!!! Thank you!!!
Thank you for your thorough and enjoyable information both here, and on the website, especially the menus. Up to date menus are hard to find for individual cruise ships. Great job.
These tips were great for anyone planning a trip on the Nieuw Amsterdam. I'm thinking about planning a sailing on the Statendam next year and it would be great to see useful tips like this!
I did the Maasdam, Noordam,Statendam and Amsterdam. And the coins are all at the same place. So i'm pretty sure to find them when i'll get on borad on january 2022. Thx for the tips.
This is a great ship, as is its sister ship Eurodam. Terrific tips. Especially about the awkward cups. I ended up demonstrating how to do it several times.
I'm going on her later this year (was going to go on the eurodam in 2020 but you know..) and this was and will be very helpful! Thanks for making this :)

For the Afternoon Tea/Tea Time - does anyone know if you have any option OTHER than tea (such as coffee)? I love the idea of the tea time experience but don't drink tea at all.
There *may* have been water and some other drinks available upon request, but we're not certain because we just went for the tea. Sorry we don't have more info on that! It's certainly worth asking the servers to see if they can get you something else. They've always been super friendly.
I sailed on the ship last November, and I wish I'd seen this video before I went. I would have loved to have had a brewed cup of tea, rather than the tea bags in the _Lido_ area. I wish I'd known about the listing of the different food in the _Lido,_ and if I had I probably would have had more than a single meal in the dining room. For me, my real discovery was the excellent salads at _New York Pizza._ The only bad thing I had on the entire trip was a completely awful, very artificial tasting shake at the _Dive In._ It was bizarre because, to quote John Travolta's character in _Pulp Fiction,_ what is a shake but milk and ice cream. Given that they had milk and ice cream aboard the ship, I've no idea why they had such a terrible shake in a place that had excellent burgers, hot dogs and fries.
Were the outside forward portions of deck 6 & 7 open for viewing the bow of the ship? We're on the ship for New Years and I've been able to use these areas on other Holland-America ships.
During our two cruises on the Nieuw Amsterdam, the only time those decks were open for viewing was when the ship was in Glacier Bay National Park. The bow was also open during that time.
I was on the ship November 2021 on a music cruise, and the late night buffet was incredibly popular with the musicians - most of whom didn't get up before noon. The Lido Buffet was the heart and soul of this cruise, where you'd pretty much always find anyone you were looking for.
Going on a trip soon, the ship is beautiful but HAL call center has dropped my calls when they don't have a solution or else put you on hold and forget about you. Very disappointed that they believe how their guests should be treated. Also notice their website is not particularly helpful.

Glad you enjoyed the video! We really miss the Afternoon Teas. They're a pretty underrated "activity." :)

Was just on the veendam and they had the exact same chocolate stuff😅

Any idea if they are still doing the late night buffet post-covid?
Not sure about Holland America, but we've been on MSC and Carnival since COVID and both had late night snacks/buffets. Hope this helps!

Man do I wish I knew that tip for the awkward ice machine.
You're not the only one! It took us a bit of time to figure out and we shared the tip countless times while on the ship to help speed up the line. :)
I'm sailing on her in April I was probably a bit too excited about the tea.
Hope you enjoy your cruise and the Afternoon Tea!

they don't serve clotted cream at tea. it's some kind of whipped product, i think with a coconut base. not really great.
Tip #6: If you were on our cruise and didn't get any of the gala chocolate, it's because we hogged it all (hahaha).
Hahahaha! It's soooooo good, isn't it?!
Do they have any sugar-free chocolate?
