Mechaninc tip - if you're struggling to find TDC because of compression moving the motor just drop the spark plug out. Not really an issue on a grom but on some bikes it can be a pain.
it's always a good idea to put a new copper washer in those are made to squish down and seal to the block and once it been used once you can flip it and after that you should put a fresh one on for a good seal
Gonna wait a week or two and then I’ll have a review video. So far I’m absolutely loving it. Only one downside to the cam but I’ll go over all that in the video👌🏻
The new cam will open and close the valves quicker. And will also allow the valves to open more allowing more air and fuel into the combustion chamber. More air and fuel = more boom :)
Grom use the same engine as supra x 125 helm in in indonesia. Maybe you can look up at bintang racing team for some racing part. They produce stroker crankshaft kit, big bore kit, big valve heads, camshaft, vavle and clutch springs etc. Im not working for them, just some info to look some parts from. Have a nice day.
Forgot to mention, there is a fill port for the cam chain tensioner spring/pin.... if you let your bike sit over night like you did it'll fill up but if you start right away you could jump time and damage your valves or piston, I did the above... so dont forget to prime the cam chain tensioner pin/spring....
There is a bolt on the flywheel side of the engine just above where the cam chain tensioner plug/spring is. If you pull the bolt out fill it with engine oil. I use a small oil can and put the bike on its side then I pump the oil in till it overflows out the hole. Then plug it.
i can see what the cams specs based on its on Design its a regrind camshaft with a 270° duration with a 107 overlap with in and Ex, in Philippines we just can it as stage 2 racing camshaft
I’ve just bought a grom, from a dealership with 400 miles on it. It does 76 mph on a long straight and revs to 10k... reckon it’s already been modified?
Just brought a zero mile 2020 two days ago and I haven’t gone full throttle yet but yeah no way stock is reving that high and hitting that speed. Can’t wait to start modding mine. I’m years behind all my buddies lol.
In cams usually performance or aftermarket parts extend the duration of when the intake and exhaust valves open, maximizing the amount of fuel supplied to the combustion chamber therefore giving you more power
for my old bike I did a cam and heads went from 60-70hp - 100hp so it can be massive of changes however cams can do more than just performance you can adjust your torque creating more low end power which is great for wheelies so the. because the grom makes so little amount of power less than 10 1hp equals more than 10% of power that's a huge gain in power for the motor. the cam changes lift and duration so how long the valve stays open and how far the lifter lifters move. adjusting these allows for changes in many directions.
And to fully utilize the bigger profile cam... U can get this higher compression piston as well as thinner ring and nrrow skirt design for reduced friction from this company: www.hispeedpiston.com/ThaiProduct/RacingPiston/ProX/

That's compression release sir..the old cams..it's easy to kick start if your cams have a comp release.. but the new one no comp release but very power compression
@@GromGarage hahah I know sir.. because that's engine Honda groom is very common engine in the Philippines sir.. my friend mekanik if trying to upgrade well remove the compressor release then replace a new cam.. higher camps the kick start or the starter can't easily start the engine.. I believe the reflash done by dh does a whole new tune while the “resetting” of the ecu does a fine tune adjustment for temperature, altitude, etc. You can always message him and ask but I’m pretty sure that it’s ok to reset it

Hey bro, recently did this and my cam sprocket tooth broke while trying to break it in. Do I have to take out the head to try and find this small piece that broke??
I would highly recommend taking it as far apart as you have to to find the piece. Pull head, drain oil, set it all on fire, call an exorcist something to get that piece out before it grenades your engine.
Hey bro i commented on one of your last videos and it helped me out a whole lot. Question this time is did you have any issues with your tb cam? I blew my top end and head.
What does this do to your low end? I'm all about less mass and more RPMs but I'm not trying to tank my low end or have to rev the bike out to get anywhere.
It definitely takes a hit to the low end, for normal riding i recommend it because it only kills the low end power around 4k rpm or below... but for wheelies like circles or just slow wheelies it’s more difficult... again, for normal riding you are in the power band all the time except for leaving the light in first. I went back to the stock cam and I definitely miss the cam
@@GromGarage circle wheelies are very important in intersections at redlights. Did you try increasing idle speed a little?
