Mike Bossy is a straight up Sniper. One of the slickest releases of all time. Didn't need a lot of space or time to get his shot off. Just an absolute gentleman on & more importantly off the ice. Boss & Trots were one of the best centre - winger combo of all time.
Vladimir Konstantinov. He came into the league with Nicklas Lidstrom, and it's easy to imagine them playing together for another 14 seasons. Vlady led the league in +/- in 1996, and was a runner-up for the Norris in '97. Were it not for the limo accident, he'd be in the HoF.

Saying Orr retired at 30 is a bit deceiving more like 26, 75/76 he only played 10 games, 76.77 20 games, 77/78 he didn't play at all and 78'79 6 games. He did make it Official at 30 BUT ,really 26 , and it just add to what he did .
It's just a phrase. I suspect Bossy developed the techniques of finding space and getting the shot off. He and Trottier had a great working relationship, even if Trots could be a bit chippy and Bossy was one of the cleanest players in history. A player many teams passed over on draft day.
There were others before then, but I was watching that game, wondering why is the league allowing this? I think Lindros should be the Director of Player Safety, but of course, he wouldn't be a Buttman puppet like idiot George Paros who is likely so disabled by CTE that he likely cannot even wipe his own bum. Lindros played physically, but understands the dangers posed by head injuries. He's also very bright.
Lindros concussion issues started in 96 with kasparitus hit..after Stevens hit he was playing really well in New York first season there, then 2 more concessions that season and it was pretty much all over..no head injuries, the sky would have been the limit..he was an absolute beast when healthy..his bad habit of cutting into middle with his Head down started in juniors, once he got to the nhl a lot of guys are just as big or bigger then him and noticed quickly his skating with his head down..
I’ll never forget as a kid during Christmas at the old Buffalo Memorial Auditorium wanting him to always score just to hear Rick Jeanereat go “Tis the season to be jolly….FA LA LA LA LA LALAFONTAINE!!!”. In my opinion he’s the best American to ever play.
Cam Neely could've been on here too!? His career was cut short cuz of knee injuries too!! The Bruins haven't had the greatest luck with knee injuries....both Orr and Neely got screwed by bad knees!! Imagine if they'd both had long careers!!!??
Gretzky is still the greatest setup man in NHL history. I will admit that Mario Lemieux was a much better goal scorer. Mike Bossy was a better goal scorer too. I can easily make an argument that Alex Ovechkin might be the best goal scorer by the virtue of the fact that Ovechkin was able to score over 800 goals against much better defenses and goalies than one’s back in the 80’s - early 90’s Gretzky, Lemieux and Bossy faced.
Yeah a few of the records but not all of them Mario was definitely more skilled and a much better specimen of a human but man no one had the brain Gretzky had . Thy said lol I could have put up 30 goals in the 80s
I paused the video to throw my 6 players out there .... Cam Neely , Eric Londros , Mario Lemieux , Paul Kariya , Vladimir Konstantinov and lastly Jaromir Jagr ... nah just kidding :P My 6th player would be Pavel Bure not a really short career but could have been better/longer have a great day everyone :)
Dryden was a better than average goalie who only looked " great " on a team that was probably the the best in NHL history. Any goalie in the league would have looked like an all - star on that team. Meanwhile, guys like Don Edwards of the Sabres faced 40 shots a night on some pretty weak teams and quite often stood on his head. But the best goalie of that era, in my opinion , Bernie Parent of the Flyers and Leafs.
I wasn't a Bruins fan, but would have gladly helped tie Ulf's arms behind his back so that Cam could pummel him. Samuelsson is in the Matt Cooke range of awful people who if they suffered a disfiguring injury I wouldn't feel any sadness.
Dryden set himself up for life by becoming a lawyer. What's wrong with him retiring? So what if he was still at his peak? Jim Brown did the same thing in football.
if only medical science were advanced when Orr played he would have had a way longer career. Dryden retired as the best goalie in NHL at that time but wanted to be a lawyer so walked away.
@@stevencooke1027 just the constant beating of being an offensive dman. he changed the way defense men played but the medical field was not up to the level it is today and they could not fix his knees or he would have lasted another 10 years maybe
Bobby Orr Fact. He annihilated Doug Harvey's point record by a dman by a 70 points margin. Doug Harvey's record was 50 points. The difference between both record (70) was higher than the actual previous record (50)

I remember that limo accident like it was yesterday. Quite heartbreaking what happened to him. 😢

Or Mario Lemieux.
At the pace he was scoring them, he definitely could have done it.
I'm not denying the possibility but "easily" ?
No one easily becomes the GOAT.
They're the GOAT because of how hard it is.

Bossy scored 50+ goals in 9 consecutive regular seasons! Purest Goal Scorer !
Thank you, for not shouting: Lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalaalalalalalallalalafontaine!
No, only Rick Jenrette gets to do that.
RJ=GOAT
Geoff Courtnall, a very underrated prolific goal scorer, injuries plagued his NHL career too also forced to retire too soon.
Whats a pure goalscorer vs great goalscorer?

McDavid is a great goal scorer, Ovechkin is a pure goal scorer
I think pure goal scorer is a back handed complement meaning the rest of your game ain't that great.
How is Erik Lindros not here? He was on pace to have a legendary career before Scott Stevens decked him.
Peter Forsberg? ;)

Peter Forsberg. Still currently 9th all time for points per game.
Lemieux will always be the #1 for me. Could've easily scored 900+ goals had his health not let him down.

Lemieux was the GOAT
I think Bossy got 50 nine years in a row not 8
I think you are right.
37 in 63 or 64 games in 1986-87. Would’ve had 50 had he played all 80 games
Hot take: Lemieux is better than Gretzky. If Lemieux stayed healthy, he would've broken all of Gretzky's records.
Gretzky is still the greatest setup man in NHL history. I will admit that Mario Lemieux was a much better goal scorer. Mike Bossy was a better goal scorer too.
