You should try to solo diablo, baal, AT, pits, summoner, nith, countess, wsk. All of the end game locations. The more of those you can solo the more viable the build is.
Add a lower resist wand on swap and you should be able to break immunes. It's a little extra work to make this build work but if you can literally smack down everything in the game with no problem, then why not
One sorc build that I like when starting fresh on a new ladder is the Ice Orb sorc 20 Ice Bolt, 20 Ice Orb, 1 into Ice Mastery, 1 into the first cold shield 20 Warmth, 1 Enchant (for your merc) 20 Energy shield, rest into Telekinesis, and 1 into Static Field Stats are: Minimum str/dex for gear, rest into Energy The build has its limit, but you really don't need much gear to be able to start farming hell, doing Andy/Meph You're probably not going to be able to do much in /players 8, but its a very good cheap starter build Its scale pretty well, but its strong enough to get anyone going on a new ladder End gear would look like: 2x SoJ, Mara, CoH, Death's Phantom, Night's wing, Spirit, Arach, Frostburn If you can get your hands on a nice FCR ammy or rings, I'd suggest that, just to get to the next FCR breakpoint (wich I don't remember off the top of my head) It does scale nice enough, but don't try to do all content with it, it has its limits afterall Most immunes you'll have to cast Enchant on your merc, and spam Static field, and hope your merc is strong enough to deal with the immunes, or skip them entirely if not

I'm amazed that none of the Diablo 2 websites mention, that the meteor fire duration raises with each skill point in meteor. (Fire duration in seconds about half of skill level) They all compare meteor with firewall, and say firewall has way more damage, but the fixed 3 seconds of FW are nothing against the 20+ seconds of the meteor fire when having it at level 40. So comparing like 5000dps of firewall against 500dps of meteor, you end up having about total 18000 dmg of firewall, but still 10000 dmg total only for the meteor fire field. While you can stack only max 3 firewalls, you can stack like 20 meteors before the first ones fire runs out. So the higher meteor, the more standing flames you can create.

When you say damage. You realise there is something called attack speed, which increases the rate of your attacks. This is indeed also an increase in damage, so ormes i probably better if you want to go for max damage fire ball.
faster cast rate, not attack speed. the tool tip damage is irrespective of cast speed. His build isn't hitting 200 fcr, so switching from CoH to ormus will only do more damage if it gains a break point.
Indeed, the frequency with which your spells are casted. However with ormus 15% and 200 fcr vs CoH and 105 fcr, the dmg increase should be quite substantial. 14,2857 % is the damage bonus from 8 to 7 frames.
Fire sorc without Phoenix shield is poor sorc, everytime, because on hell is too much fire immunities and resists. And much better is 36-40K meteor with -28 fire monster resist, than 44k meteor without it. + you get redemption aura an it is very important. . :-P And FCR you can get elsewhere (Circlet, amulet)
The reason noone uses fire is because of the ridiculous amount of fire immunes. most fire sorc are PVP for good reason. "Immune" monsters in this game are probably the only gripe i have on D2 (especially find physical immune to be dumb as hell)

You're absolutely correct. Practically no one plays pure fire at all, as single-element builds have been known to fail past normal for years now. I don't think Xtimus said claimed its viability in any practical sense, so he's not spreading any false info. As a purely technical demonstration, it is interesting for sure. Saves us all some time from attempting it ourselves as well.

Please start to max block and get a storm shield, a high def armor (1100 def COH) plus block rate and a defiance aura merc will give you 25% chance to be hit.. by pretty much anything in the game, some things might be a bit higher like in the 30's range.. But its a helluva lot better than literally being hit by everything. You lose 200Hp by doing 156 into STR 200 Dex and dumping the rest into vit.. If you do what everyone else does.. and think spirit is the best thing ever youre ganna have a bad time you gain 200 hp some fcr and a plus to skill that is neglible. It's not worth it. #MakeMaxBlockRateGreatAgain Furthermore.. if you have a battle order stick.. youre ganna be over 1k anyway. So whats better having 1k hp with a super awesome block? or having 1.3k Hp and are hit by everything?
damn looks like u didnt play since the old version 1.07 without RW , and 1.09 . Fire sorc doesn't work because can't take almost 65% of imunnity from mobs . Plus the meteor cast has delay and long casting , pretty much a trapper with infy , a light soso , a hammerdin , even a blizzard or CE necromancer can take over pretty much 78% faster every mob and boss . That a fire sorc could do . But yeah 200 fcr fire in PvP rules
and for ultra-fast run , fully geared jwelry javazon with rare java +4 skill + ias . And the last frame for ias + a merce with infy = 1 hit bosses gg ultra fast
People didnt continue playing it because the damn servers sucked.. and you'd get kicked from game for the sheer amount of lag the fucking animations caused.

fire sorc had her time, firewall sorc was the master of the diablo 2 universe before expansion came out which added fire immune and spell cool down.

It would take hundreds of hours to farm the equipment to make these videos if he didn't use Hero Editor.

-res on gear (and cold mastery) can never break imunities. The only thing that can is conviction aura and lower resis curse (these two stack btw).

For me I'm not a fan of Meteor because it's such a slow spell. Waiting for it to drop and then the cool down is annoying compared to Lightning or FO.

Infinity gives -light res when the merc hits the monsters. thats really the only reason im lightning spec
the -light res on infinity only applies to your merc, not to you. the conviction aura does benefit you though.
