- Today in Hearts of Iron 4 an older Byzantine guide is being called into question, so I am going to show that despite it all the guide is still up to the challenge and is capable of helping the player revive this fallen Empire.
Along the way the Hellenic kingdom will be completed transformed from the inside out, old leaders will return, new ones will make their entrance and coalitions will be forged that'll take Greece on a different pathway towards glory.

For the record this was partially Bitt3rSteel's idea.
I made this as there is only so many times I can comment skill issue or the guide still works before I realize that it's probably best that I make another video, with this video I can now send people over here if it happens again. I don't expect this to absolutely perfect or all encompassing, nothing is. But you know.
I had watched the old Byzantium video and it worked like a charm. Most of your video from at least a year ago work fine.

I’m amazed that somehow Venizelos lived until the coup by the Byzantines,unlike in most of my runs he dies after some weeks or months
In my last few games, he even died before the election each time. I get why his ingame date of death is random since irl he died in March of '36, but it's still annoying to have this kind of RNG this early.
I one did a Hellas playthrough with the intent of appointing Aristotle Onassis as leader the moment Venizelos dies
I kid you not, he's alive even in 1941 when I got invaded by the Axis, and last I checked he is still alive in the save, I just havent played it in a while bc its a different version

The problem I’ve had about this guide is that when I tried this strat, turkey sent 6 divisons into Athens that my units couldn’t break. Also my forces were very overstretched as the Turks did multiple landings on my ports.

Had two goes at this and never got naval invaded so looks like it might be pretty restart intensive.
Hoi4 continues to work in mysterious ways. Ironically the only time this run was reloaded was because I retook Athens when I shouldn't have.
@@BubblesZest I still capped them both times but it wasn't the fast job that is the point of the strategy, because it takes ages to grind them down enough to encircle the port on the border
Can you make a guide for restoring the Ottoman Empire and controlling all cores?

why does romania always get military acces from turkey and just arrive with their entire army?
I actually think it got easier since you can buy equipment you need
I tried it and the turkey ai created balkan entenente with yugoslavia and romania ( it was histrorical ) is this a glitch or should this happen if you drag the war out for war economy and other stuff.
Idk, I've only see that happen once myself.
İt might be because you are doing something ahistorical so ai can say "fine, two can play this game" and goes balkan entente intead of reconfigure focus

Enjoy your videos, unfortunately Romania guarantees Turkey now, this no longer works (tried it twice). Even with a NA pact with RoM they still DOW on me when I do same to Turkey. Any ideas?
Romania *always* guarantees Turkey. You can see them being called in at 4:20.
Normally Romania doesn't even move units in, so it shouldn't be a problem. If they do, I have nothing for you. You'll have to find something.

But most people already know how to form Byzantium but how do you get the rest of your cores?
0.boost popularity of democracy in romania after you get 80 percent in romania from begining of game1.annex italians before They join axis and annex albania by order 66 2.justify on bulgaria and build real army(not with shit 66 order divisions)and after on yugoslavia 3.join to axis and annex vichy from border on italian border 4. build and Connect supply in africa and after you have some supply joijn a war 5.romania is in alies if you boost popularity or They are with no fraction,so you can easily annex them

what are you researching in the very beginning? im new and watching this video you didn’t complete construction 1 till 1937
when i try it they never land on athen and if they land on the harbors next to it this balkan country joins them and spams like 15 units into it and i lose.. what do i do wrong?

You can outproduce them.
Create faction with Bulgaria and slowly push, try to micro small pockets
In one point, while you are fighting the turks, research marines and try to get them with them. You will have time until 1939 (in unhistorical) before they join any faction (mostly the german empire entente in my experience) or create a faction with bulgaria+marines and that should work
would having more than 9 div on the thrace border cause the Turks to have more there as well?

I've been using his previous Byzantium guide and the only problem I had was being to slow on stopping the forces pushing into Athens after Turkey naval invades. Which is a me problem, not the guide. It's been a fantastic guide.

Thanks for your video! I'm in an alliance with the Axis right now and trying to form Byzantium... Bulgaria is in that alliance too and Germany gave them territories of my Greek Core regions... Without asking me!! lol. We managed to beat Turkey but Germany is holding Istanbul now and Bulgarians my core region in former Greece, so I miss 2 out of 5 regions. Really sucks lol

This is such a lie. When I do this they naval invade me through Corfu and my army is so unorganized that they cant do anything about it. DO A UPDATED VERSION!!!!
The video literally says to adapt to wherever they may land. There's nothing to update.

I like how a fascist dictator can make a large conquest and just let the country revert back to a republic and its business as usual like nothing ever happened.
except your guide doesn't, tried it three days in a row, war with turkey lasted 7 years, they called allies, I got fucked.

Works perfectly fine for me, I've done it over 5 times now and its worked every time because I'm just testing to see how to min max Greece.
If you let Turkey have Athens they will throw everything there to die or continue to naval invade Peloponnese and lose everything there instead. When Turkey has around 6-x amount of divisions left, move some of your garrison to the border at Edirne but not enough to ruin supplies. Turkey usually has around 4 units here, just force attack your way through to Istanbul and across the crossing. Funnel the rest of your troops across and the war is easily won around the start of 1938.
If you want to min max even more, when Horror and Fear is completed justify on Bulgaria as well. Then RIGHT before you cap Turkey (I'm talking 99% cap) move enough units to the Bulgarian border so they can't take any free tiles and declare war. If you do this before annexing Turkey there will be no guarantees and now you have an easy path to take Bulgaria and let you take the form Byzantium decision to get the cores. With Bulgaria you can also attack into Romania now without having to form a faction with Bulgaria, and now you're basically strong enough to take on the Soviets alone or join the Axis to fight them.

This strat is shit, abusing ai to naval invade, and if it doesn't - you can't win and should restart and hope ottoman will invade this time (surely)
