    I’ve been working out and eating healthy for years. I went mainly carnivore and for some reason after about 6 months my energy went down the drain. I was tired every morning. It was hard to workout and I’ve been working out since I was 12. I couldn’t understand why I lacked energy to workout. I kept going because I have willpower. I decided to finally add fruit and honey to my diet and I feel like a new woman. My workouts are easier and I sleep better now. The carnivore gave great results in the beginning but I hit a brick wall with my energy. It became miserable to not energy to workout and feel fatigued all day. Now everything has changed! And I do not have any sweet cravings because the fruit satisfies me. It’s so important to listen to your body and understand that everyone is very different.

    I had the same symptoms as Paul Saladino. Heart palpitations were horrible, I actually felt like I was spiralling downwards. I had no energy. Thought I could die. My doctor told me to add some carbs. I did with fruit. Feel so much better. I only have 1x banana with Greek yoghurt and small amount of blueberries and some strawberries. I have carnivore lunch and dinner. I’m feeling heaps better and it’s still 100% better than the SAD diet. Can’t go wrong with meat and fruit.

    Yes! I wanted to eat carnivore because I've been researching for years about it. Tried years ago and had horrible stomach aches, I don't think my gut was ready, I went full in after years of being plant based with minimal animal products. I have not been feeling great lately with no energy and I knew my diet wasn't serving me so I decides to try carnivore again but instead say I'm eating animal based and do it in a way I could manage. That was including dairy, fruit (A small amount including avocados) a bit of honey and saurkraut. I feel super good, energy is great, libido is better, my digestion is still off its only been 3 months though but I've stuck to it which is great for me.

    Great video. Well explained!
    I noticed that when I have juice at communion at church, even that tiny little cup full makes me feel hungry right away! When I feel like I need a little extra something after or before a workout, I’ll have some dairy i.e. a glass of milk, some yoghurt or cheese, that’s my way of adding a tiny bit of sugar/carbs into my carnivore diet, while still staying carnivore and enjoying all those benefits to my gut health !

    This is the best take I've heard on this subject so far bcuz I totally agree that it depends on the person and I also do not ascribe to the carnivore police dogma either. Your body will let you how much carbs are okay for you or if not at all. I had some problems eating fruit on carnivore and discovered a way to rid the craving and resolve my lifelong insomnia at the same time. And are doing the lion diet right now and loving it.
    But I am not convinced that no carbs ever is the way and don't want to talk smack against plant food bcuz I know that the hype the carnivore community makes of our hunter-gatherer ancestors isn't what they crack it up to be. It's not proof that humans are never supposed to touch carbs, bcuz firstly, we are a splice from a plant-eating species and still resemble that species today, and plant food kept us alive for thousands of years, bcuz hunting never supplied enough food, it was never a reliable source, and caused the men to be cannibals.
    Paleo women were vegetarians bcuz they were disgusted by men eating people and wanted no part of it, and thus cultivated planting and fully developed agriculture in the Neolithic period. Agriculture kept us alive not hunting. And allowed men to stop eating humans. Bcuz, unlike carnivore animals, we are not at the mercy of meat supply and can survive on plant food, and exactly what we have done for thousands of years and counting.
    I think that the proof that meat is the best nutrition for us doesn't eliminate carbs unless it turns out that way for a person individually. Most carnivore dieters consume some kind of plant food. Like coffee, tea, and spices besides sea salt. And that's okay. I think that the carnivore diet is the greatest diet, but there's no proof that we should never touch plant food and maybe it would be best to learn to have carbs in moderation.
    I just know that I am not going to disregard the Paleo women and the fact that they were vegetarians while the men ate meat and created agriculture for us to survive more easily. The Paleo women were the heroes of that period and nobody mentions them in their praise of hunter-gatherers. It's a falsity that I do not want to participate in.

    7 yrs low carb animal based experience and I still don’t have all the answers. But I’ve got observations. One is generally, after getting the metabolic health back on track, exercising metabolic flexibility with fruit is good. It takes some self control, not always easy for me and others I suspect. The interesting part is my tolerance for carbs and not fattening up on those carbs, seems to be seasonal. I believe sun exposure. I get leanest in the summer while my consumption of salted watermelon goes to insane levels. Hacks my brain. Vitamin D benefit?? Along with all Paul’s other activity, he certainly gets plenty of sun with shirt off, and in the summer, now that I am lean, I do too. I tend to carry an extra 10-15 pounds in winter and I am mostly just eating something like an apple or two per day. Idk, could just be shorter days and less activity in winter.

    I think it depends on your metabolic health. If your metabolism is fixed and healthy, a bit of carbs isn't as problematic. Athletes can get away with carbs, and benefit from them depending on how extreme of an athlete they are, as their metabolism is healthy. Someone going on carnivore for elimination and/or reversing metabolic disease, no. For those individuals, being as low carb as possible until their metabolic disease is reversed, or limiting as many foods as possible if they need the elimination benefits because food is causing issues, is necessary. Once you are basically healthy, or if you went on carnivore healthy and with no food tolerance issues, then its much less of an issue.
    My only issue with this message as it relates to Paul Saladino, is that an overwhelming majority of people seeking diets like keto, carnivore, or some other version of Low Carbing, are people who are suffering with metabolic diseases and/or major food intolerances, and they already have a sea of conflicting, confusing, and in many cases outright mis-information to wade through to try to find their way to saving their own lives. For people who are metabolically diseased or with significant food intolerances (perhaps from gut permeability issues or allergies), there is no benefit from having to wade through things like "but you can add some carbs to carnivore" especially with how often the nuance of "if you are metabolically sound and athletic" aren't mentioned clearly upfront. And lets be honest, athletes aren't compromised like the metabolically sick majority of folks who come looking for this information. So it just adds more noise to the signal these sick individuals are having to deal with, which is amplified by the fact that they will get no help from their doctors or the medical establishment at large on this either.

    I suspect that Dr. Paul Saladino's problem may have been related to an electrolyte issue. He surfs just about every day from what I gather which requires an immense amount of energy and I'm sure comes with a lot of perspiration which can drain him of his electrolytes. I suspect that this was the main cause of most of his issues as electrolyte deficiencies include:
    headaches
    confusion
    dizziness

    @donutfitness6324 5 місяців тому +2

    The "put on tons of mass comment" is interesting. You have to ask "what kind of mass is that". I'm not strict carnivore, but it's important to remember there are two kinds of hypertrophy; sarcoplasmic and myofibrillar...adding carbs will likely lend to adding sarcoplasmic. It's why so many bodybuilders (even natural ones) jack up their carbs when they bulk, but when they cut they end up "losing all their muscle" and in reality it was just sarcoplasmic hypertrophy.
    I'm not saying it's bad or wrong, hell that is what bodybuilding is based on.
    Again, I'm not being negative I do usually eat around 50 up to 200 grams of carbs a day. I also find eating in season fruit to be the best. I noticed my digestion was better and I felt better when we loaded up on fruit that is from farmers markets and IN SEASON. I was shocked how much better it made me feel. You also make a great point that people don't need to eat 20 pounds of fruit a day and 800 grams of carbs. I do think there is value in adding blueberries and some lower oxalate fruits and veggies, but you don't have to go over the top with it.

    • @RobStuart
      @RobStuart  5 місяців тому +1

    • @donutfitness6324
      @donutfitness6324 5 місяців тому

      @@RobStuart that totally makes sense. I'm around around 225 on 150-250 grams of carbs...around 215 with absolute zero carb carnivore diet. I'm in agreement with your points I think mine was that if I pushed it to 300, 400, 500 and changed my workouts to higher volume I'd probably not really put on any further mass on the myofibrillar, but would look 15+ pounds larger.
      Add in the bodybuilding drugs I used to take and take carbs to 500-700 and drop fat to virtually nothing and I'd be 240. Of course with those drugs you can pull the lever of sarcoplasmic hypertrophy and glycogen loading even further than if someone were natural.
      It's why when bodybuilders tell me they put on all this muscle on a bulk I tell them to stop training and go carnivore...most will have almost all their "new bulk" disappear...

    Saladino had a liver toxicity problem due to supplements. He took liver capsules for years, because he didn‘t like the taste of liver. Instead of just not eating it at all. In that case carbs help to bind the toxins and get them out of the body, which makes you feel better. Several of our carnivore doctors analized that biochemical prosess. I for myself do eat some berries every now and then for the taste. But I would not up them for more carbs. My heartpulpitations went away with taking magnesium for a while.

    I would not say Paul Saladino is thriving in his appearance - he has aged 10 years since he started adding all this fruit. My problem with Paul is that he starts a diet and spits all this research at you as to why why it is so great and then moves onto another diet and does the same - he seems to interpret the research in a particular way and push a narrative to suit the diet he is currently on and ends up contradicting himself and loses creditability. How can you go from posting videos saying all carbs and sugars including fructose are bad to now saying they are good.

    • @RobStuart

      Would you say that the condition of his body and his overall shape looks aged? Or are you judging by the slightly doctored photo comparison of his face that went around? Im judging based on talking to him and hearing his voice and it sounds energetic and youthful. His body to me, looks lean, strong and youthful as well. You do realize that less than 9% of Americans have visible abs?

I think too much sun may also be to blame! I should make it clear, I am not against fruit or the sun, they can be beneficial but all in moderation - basically what you have just said in this video, Look, appearance is subjective, you obviously think Paul has good physique and for the most part I would agree but I also think he has some bloating and water retention like your typical body builder gets. However as long as he is happy that is the main thing, I just think people need to be really careful when they listen to Paul - he is not an expert and selects research / articles that fits his narrative and even when he finds research that goes against what he promotes he will spin it

      A bit pendantic but fructose, like glucose, galactose and sucrose (glucose + fructose) are all carbs. By combining these simple sugars organisms create polysaccharides, like starch and glycogen.
