    Greetings from Germany 😉 12V-Battery-Warranty is 2 Years also here in Germany. And: Using that V2L-Adapter to charge 12V-Battery was really new to me. Thanks for this nifty trick 👍👍

    After about six months with our 2022 EV six we started having battery problems. We had to charge it several times, but finally replaced it with a lithium battery for about 450 USD and have not had the problem for the last 10 months. Besides a set of tires at 45,000 miles this is the only issue we have had and we love the car.

    It is terrific to have ONE SINGLE person on UA-cam giving us the best possible information about KIA/HYUNDAI EVs.
    Thank you, Brian!
    I'm happy to own the KIA EV6 GT-Line 2023 (my wife's car) and KIA EV9 GT-Line 2024. EV6 - no problems at all (so far). EV9 - KIA Connect APP gives an issue from time to time. Recently got an SOS error on the dash. It seems the battery is drained (SOS battery), or there is an issue. Will have it serviced in two weeks. Digital Key worked fine for two weeks after it started to lose the connection (I was not able to get it, just via the KIA Connect App). Rest is fine (so far).
    All the best, Brian!

      Cheers. At least no 12v battery problems yet. Can you please confirm that in ECO mode & iPedal that only one motor gets used. Someone in the comments says it still drives both motors in iPedal. Going back to 2021 when i was waiting for my EV6 i read the Ioniq 5 manual from cover to cover & always remembered that it said the motors were de-coupled in ECO mode.

      @@evodessey Good day to you, Sir! I was able to run the test with EV9 only. In ECO mode with the i-Paddle on, the car stays in AWD, and both motors are used to regenerate braking power to the battery. If you remain in ECO mode and switch to AUTO regen (level 3), only the rear motor remains active and regenerates the braking energy.
      In NORMAL mode & i-Padel ON, only the rear motor works (sam with AUTO Level 3).
      So, at least in EV9, in ECO Mode & iPadel ON, both motors are in use to drive and stop the car.
      I assume it will be the same with EV6, but I need to test it (my wife was using the car this weekend, so I will have to wait till next weekend to give it a try).

    Thanks Brian. I love No.8 "It's dead Jim!" 😂 I've a hard-wired dashcam that powers down depending on dipswitch setting. Unfortunately when it was at the dealer for an update the engineer must have knocked one of the dipswitches when fumbling around plugging into the OBD port, making it permanently live. Hey presto one dead 12v.🤷‍♂

    Regarding No.5 - Driving Easy / Range. I have an EV6 GT which is an AWD model and I do NOT recommend using i-pedal mode to increase range since in i-pedal the front motor stays permanently engaged decreasing efficiency. I expect this to be the same on all AWD models, for RWD i-pedal is probably fine. I find auto-regen to be very good coupled with 'holding' the left pedal for max deceleration as appropriate.

    • @evodessey
      @evodessey  7 місяців тому

      So it does not go into single motor mode in ECO mode?

    • @joelmansford7365

      @@evodessey yes it does. In eco it only squirts the front motor a little when setting off and once moving only if you put your foot right down

      iPedal is IMHO the best mode for driving efficiently an EV6 RWD. First year I was driving in ECO, this year in NORMAL - until now I can't see any difference except a bit more power when pedal goes toward the street 😈Regen in iPedal fully up is the same as pulling the left paddle constantly.

    Had a major problem with the 2022 EV6 Wind I bough last month.
    Driving through the fog ,30 mph, after dark last night I hit a deer.
    Shattered everything around the driver's headlight and bent the hood/bonnet. I picked up all the chunks to get ready for a tow truck. Then I got in the car, the seat moved forward, and I pressed the brake and power. The shift wheel did not light up.
    I was not intending to drive it. Would have like to push it to the side of the road.
    However every instruction for towing in the manual says "PUT IN NEUTRAL BEFORE MOVING".
    Neither the tow truck operator not I could figure out how to put it in neutral when there is no power. Some small indicators on the dash lit up, the seat adjuster, the emergency flasher and ceiling lights do work.
    We even talked to the KIA body shop and they did not know how to get it into neutral.
    We finally had to send the flat bed tow truck back 50 miles and order the truck that lifts the front end and puts those wheeled lifting devices underneath the back wheels.
    I am very sad that my beautiful new car is already broken and I had to watch the doe slowly die.
    Has anyone run into this problem?
    Any suggestions?
    PS. We did try using a jump starter on the 12 volt battery. No good.

    • @evodessey
      @evodessey  7 місяців тому +3

      Damn,so sorry to hear that. Deers are a big hazard around here as well. I think they changed the logic in last year’s VCU update and most UK dealers did not print out the new pages of the manual to replace the old ones. I will have to do some research because it’s something that would come in handy when you least expect it.

      @@evodesseyFor AWD vehicles, ECO mode does not do anything if you're in i-pedal. Confirmed by looking at the battery distribution to the wheels. ECO mode on other modes is RWD only, so you lose out on AWD even if you need it when you floor it. That's why ECO mode acceleration is slower.

    Hi Brian, Fortunately I have been following you for quite a while and listen to you for about a year ago about Zombie mode and so I have a 10 mm spanner in the car (and battery booster). I Have a EV6 since 1,5 year
    Had my first zombie mode here for a couple of weeks ago late on Friday night and away from home. In the back of my head (took me a couple of minutes to recall it) your tips about reset the car with disconnecting the 12 V battery came to my mind.
    I been rewatching your previous video about zombie mode and you mentioned that you have before you got zombie mode, you activated/deactivated valet mode with kia connect app. In my case I tried to turn on the remote climate control (heating) with the app (twice) and got some strange message on my mobile about network error that I never seen before or after. Mobil cover was good and the car was parked on a location there I turned on remote climate many times before.
    So I think you maybe have something when Kia connect app fails in rare cases it can trigger zombie mode.
    I have noticed after the incident that when I use remote climate control the car also turn on battery condition if the temperature is slightly below 0 degrees (Celsius). Don’t remember seeing that before the incident, normally I have the new energy display together with android auto. It turns of battery condition as soon as I start the car. Don’t have any navigation active.
    Keep up the amazing work you doing with this channel.

    • @evodessey
      @evodessey  7 місяців тому +1

      Thank you. If you remember a while back the face lifted Niro EV had an issue with Zombie mode triggered by remote climate control which they fixed with a software update. When my Zombie mode happened remote climate was not involved.

      @@evodessey I didn’t remember about the Niro EV. I will read more about it.
      I been using the remote climate every workday at least twice every day during the winter and this was the first issue (and remote cooling during the summer). I did the november update direct when it was released, so latest update all winter in the car.
      Just mention it if anyone else has seen the same behaviour.

    Having an IONIQ 5 I have never seen the "Number 7 What’s that flashing light for?". It's only in the American model - not the European. It would have been nice though. ;-)

    • @evodessey

      Most likely yes. If you carry a 12v booster pack then at least you have a way of getting it started. If the 12v dies again then 100% change it.
