Brian, so sorry you are having to sell Elvira, your blog has been so useful, but a new chapter and new tech awaits. Think yourself lucky, I have ended up in hospital and may never drive again, my 2023 ev6's fate depends on whether my wife can handle it.

Yep, you can do all that you've shown on the MY25 EV6. But there are a few annoyances that I'd be interested to see if you get in the EV3. 1. It doesn't remember your drive mode and Auto regen settings. I like to use Eco mode (as it gives a gentler pull away) and Auto brake mode. But my EV6 defaults to Normal and whichever level you've set the regen to be, but not Auto. 2. When you use the remote Climate Control it actually "starts" the car. When you get into the car it's in Ready without you needing to press the Power button. This seems great, but is a potential security concern. More importantly to me, if my other half leaves the windscreen wipers on (as she always does if she's used them) then they'll come on immediately, before the windscreen has had a chance to clear, even if they are frozen in place. That means I'll have to walk down to the car, open it, and check the windscreen wipers before switching on the remote Climate Control.

Thanks very much Brian for providing unique support for initially EV6 owners and now other electric vehicles from the same stable. It has provided many answers that would take an age to discover any other way. There is no doubt that Kia should be rewarding you by at the very least lifelong free service and support for your cars. My previous car was a BMW 323 bought in 1999, and is still running, but ULEZ made me look at electric cars. The arrival of the EV6 on the market with its good looks and performance made it my only choice. I understand your reasoning for changing Elvira, but as Tennyson wrote: I hold it true, whate’er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most: ’Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.

Thank you Brian for sharing your experience on your EV6. I will keep my for another two years. It will then be 5 years have driven about 120k km. And maybe then buy a used EV6 25 low on km. I have enjoyed and seen almost every single video of yours, thank you.

If you buy a EV more than 40K now, will you need to pay the luxury tax later? My understanding is that we will need to pay the tax for 5 years - which is why I will probably choose the air trim model instead of the GT Line S....

I'm in exactly the same position as you Brian. My wife won't drive my EV6 and runs a cheap, old Honda Civic which seems to go on and on. While I was in the Kia garage last month having my ICCU changed (!) I too was offered £27k in part exchange for an EV3. So, in two and a half years I would lose £17,500. However, unlike you, I've decided to keep the EV6 and run it until it dies which maybe 10 years? That would be an annual depreciation of £4,500 rather than the £7000 if I chopped it in now. I like the car very much so it's no hardship to keep and a cheap petrol runabout does the local runs of 2000 miles a year. Maybe the drop of second hand prices will slow down as time goes on.

The ICCU issues would put me off another Kia altogether.

Bit the bullet. EV3 test drive this morning, then paid the deposit for a Sunset Orange GT-Line S with the heat pump.

You've done sterling work Brian on the EV6 and I'm really grateful for all the support and advice made available to me as an owner. Mine will be three years old in April 2025 and my plan is to hold onto it until the warranty ends. So far I haven't experienced the problems you unfortunately have - but I'll watch your EV3 experience with interest in case I decide to follow your example 😊 Best wishes and keep up the good work

I can confirm same KIA Connect features are available on EV9. Based on your experience, it might be some features are available only to the ccNC units. By that said, I would expect these to arrive to the face-lift EV6 (as it is fitted with the ccNC unit).

We have also purchased an EV3 gt line s. The car was ordered at the launch in October and should be delivered this week. Kia delivery is not the best. The extra road tax was the reason we also purchased now. Our e Niro was purchased used at the top price and has now lost £23,000. The EV3 will be a keeper as we are in the same situation as yourself. Keep up the good work.

In the case of a flat battery with a digital key, I believe you are supposed to place your phone on the wireless charging pad for it to work.

Hi Brian, that's interesting. What about the App Comms? Is it still the "dumb" status refresh and do you still have to wait 2 minutes to unlock the car? Do you still have to wait for each App upload before you can do another task? IE Change max charge % and then start charge? That can take me 3 to 4 minutes sitting and looking at a very 1980's status bar. Drives me nuts and it's pushing me towards Audi.

Thanks Brian, The biggest problem I have is the timer on the ev6 for cabin preconditioning. 10 minutes is "close" to UK winter, but I find about 12-15 is sufficient to defrost the windscreen and the cabin. This honestly sounds like Kia could actually push this to all cars, but are monetarily driven not to. Sigh.

Have KIA fixed the design issues of the EV6? ie the horrible blind spot when looking to the right caused by the bulk and positioning of the offside mirror and the A pillar? The lack of cornering lights which mean you drive into a black hole when you turn left or right on an unlit road at night? And of course the poor HVAC system?

There is absolutely zero reason all these option could be made available for the pfl-EV6 except for not wanting to spend developers time to care for the pfl-EV6 owners that made all the other iterations of the next-gen line-up even possible.... I just got the OTA payment option notification on the screen with the message that Q1 2025 they will be rolling out updates (thanks but ill stick to my trusted thumb-drive), so we'll see what 2025 brings us, not expecting much but one can only hope..

I have a new Ioniq 5 which has the same options as the EV3, but obviously via Bluelink. So i would assume the facelift EV6 will be the same.

My wife likes the look of the EV3, but I like the power of my GTL S AWD. Whilst I know depreciation has been a big hit, I’d rather not have to pay the luxury car tax on a new car, so I will stick with my EV6

I have noticed that Car Scanner is telling me eight hours to 80% on my 7 kW charger, but the car is only telling me six hours. Is there some discrepancy with Car Scanner?

It must be said that not all EV’s have personality. Yes my EV6 does and my wife’s BMWI4 also does but most of them are white goods.

On niro ev when it’s cold and I would start climate conditioning to defrost everything and pre heat the cabin, there will be some battery preconditioning happening. If I look under energy consumption, there would be „battery care“ consumption listed for couple of percent. So apparently the car will do battery pre heating when it’s cold and pre heating is turned on.

Thanks, everything is temporary Brian as they say, I changed my Nero Phev last year and I loved the car but finacially it made sense to move on, now drive a Nero EV . Th 7 year warrranty on Kia means Ive stuck with brand and now on my 4th Kia, with the satisfaction that the next owner still has another few years on his/hers.

I am swapping my EV6 for the EV3 in a week's time. Can't wait! Never had a fault in almost three years with the EV6 but, as it is mostly driven to the supermarket car park, it is a bit too wide for the spaces and it is a worry wondering if it will get pranged. The technology has advanced in those three years, for instance the 82 kWh battery is lighter than the 74 kWh battery due to being more energy dense. So, I will be able to continue getting valuable info from your channel.

Annoying, I'm convinced most of these features could be made available to all EV vehicles, it looks like Kia are going down the Apple route of limited features based on the latest car you have. For instance, given a suitable software update, there is no reason why all cars can't have pre-conditioning, change the climate control to 30 minutes - these are all within each car currently and just needs the feature being made available.
