There were still multiple major conflicts and revolts between 1815 and 1914, like the Crimean War, the whole UK of the Netherlands breakup, the German revolutions of 1848 and most notably the Franco-Prussian war. If we were to define “peace” as a time without a global conflict then we’d have to go back to the 7 years war because it had many battles outside of Europe, unlike the Napoleonic wars.

One piece of advice is VERY poor: during and after an attack, if it’s nuclear do not go and inspect any buildings… stay in place where there is a fairly-well sealed area and as much concrete between you and outside as possible. Stay there for at least two days, if possible two weeks or longer. Outside within about half an hour radioactive fallout dust and debris will descend and gather on the ground, on roofs and walls, everywhere. As time passes the radioactivity quickly lessens but the first hour is the most critical. Do NOT go outside as the video suggests.

@@zakosist I think most important is to realise that it is an outside chance, very unlikely really. All out nuclear exchanges are however certainly more likely today than six weeks ago. In that event the likelihood is that a nuclear strike would be a low yield tactical warhead, detonated in the air for a precision strike and so with far less radioactive fallout, and localised in one country for example the Ukraine. It is very probable in my opinion that the west would not respond in kind with a retaliatory strike to a single nuke, because there is very little appetite to harm Russian people, or to escalate, and this is seen as Putin’s personal war and not done in the name, at least not yet, of the Russian people themselves.
If however, there is perhaps through misunderstanding in the fog of war, or due to a mad dog mafiosi behaviour in the Kremlin, an all out nuclear war, you need to know some things to keep you alive.
If you are outside of a typical target site by a good ten miles
1) don’t look at the flash, it will temporarily blind you especially at night, expect more flashes if one occurs in follow up strikes
2) lie down on the ground with your mouth open and fingers in your ears to protect from ear drum damage, any exposed skin covered with your clothing and behind the first heavy built wall you can see between you and the direction of the flash… now wait there a few minutes for any blast waves to pass. If you are very far out there may be no large blast wave
3) you have 25 minutes to get into your safe space where you will stay, for at least the next two days, if possible for the next two weeks. A building with wooden walls is no good. In Switzerland they have built hundreds of thousands of nuclear fallout shelters, perhaps because so many structures there are made of wood and offer little protection from fallout. If you have no basement, you want thick stone, concrete, or a large building with many walls to put between you and the outside fallout which will start to ‘fall out’ over the next half an hour. Very important is to get to the centre of the building to the most sealed space you can. Stay away from upper stories, because roof tiles offer little to no protection. Spend your time in your fallout shelter largely lying down, at least for the first few days. Most importantly your shelter should be fairly sealed, with windows and doors blocked off by material to shield you. In my house I have no basement, but I do have large bins and containers capable of being filled with many inches of water. This will protect you from fallout radiation outside, whilst its danger levels decay which happens quite quickly over the next 2 hours, 2 days, and 2 weeks respectively by degrees. Seal up air vents and any air openings with the outside. You have under 30 mins to achieve this ideally.
If it takes longer to reach your site you must disrobe slowly and carefully and shower upon entering in case there are already fallout particles on you.
The magic numbers are 12 inches of concrete minimum, all told, between you and outside and 24 inches of water minimum for example through large rubbish containers etc placed around your stay-put place and at door ways and windows. With a long hose you can fill these up as the fallout is descending. This is for minimum but good protection, 16 inches of concrete and 32 inches of water however would be much better.
Do not drive anywhere, the worst place to be is in your car which has zero protection, and stuck in the ensuing traffic.

But me and my family kind of have a plan that I can’t tell you because some people from the future could see it and ruin it. @@Mari-hk7pc it's a fully neutral country, there is no reason to invade it as they wouldn't intervene and concentrate on sole survival, they're also pretty well prepared for a war, all the strategic bridges and roads leaving the country have explsoives under them to deter an invation, most of the civilian population is armed and trained, they have an active mandatory draft so most men know at least some military training, they also have plenty of well maintained shelters and the terrain basically makes them a fortress since they're surrounded by mountains and most viable points of entry for an enemy are simple-ish to defend, they have plenty of fresh water from the alps, a decent amount of agricultural land, good international relationships, etc.

Sadly, this feels eerily familiar. I lived through a time when the 'nuclear clock' was very close to midnight once before. I learnt enough then to know that if there ever is a 'global exchange', there won't be many survivors - and very unlikely in the major countries of the world. It's the radiation that's the biggest killer.
a work mate showed me a video, the nuclear fall out is the killer - everything will slowly freeze and die - very, very slowly - happy thought!
Want to add a correction, cell phones and any other electronics that can be traced/tracked should be left behind. Carrying them ensures enemy forces have the potential to track you down. People should learn to not rely on technology.

As Ukrainian I want to add that hexamine fuel tablets don't burn well. You better buy a portable gas stove. My family used one during blackouts, it's really good but remember: DON'T PUT GAS CYLINDERS ON THE ELECTRIC STOVE. You can forget that it was on before the power outage and after electricity is here again gas might explode. Few apartments in my town burned because of it. I live far from the warzone so that's the only advices I have. If you want more ask somewhere else

Im very terrified. My country is near russsia and in baltic countries. Its Estonia (small country) we dont even have bunkers or some things/buildings that go underground like subway. Well we have some subways and litte areas underground only on bigger cities like Tallin or Tartu. Other smaller cities like Rakvere (where i and my family live) doesent have any of them (subways or litte underground areas) im very scared that Russia will invade Estonia and baltic countries next almost after ukraine invasion.

In a sense it is more of a civil war. Ukrain used to be part of Russia and with nato trying to recruit and pushing Russia to a wall, putin drew the line . If nato would have just backed off this wouldn't have happened.
@@zephyrdimi2673 not as simple as that, Putin has an obsession on taking back everything that was once part of the Soviet Union, he simply used the 'threat' of NATO as an excuse to justify attacking Ukraine. Had NATO backed off it would have made the west look incredibly weak, Putin would have invaded Ukraine anyway and then once he is done with that he will invade a NATO country hoping that there will be no resistance. NATO didn't have a choice but to show strength now or it would have been too risky to allow Putin to expand and get over confident and surely try and seize a NATO nation.
So essentially options are:
1. Let Putin get what he wants and agree that Ukraine will never join NATO. Putin invades anyway (extremely likely), and then having had no resistance from NATO decides to invade a NATO country like Poland hoping that NATO will not intervene and allow capture. (This is also likely to happen and they will be in a strengthened military position).
2. Provide sanctions and support to Ukraine and hold off Putin as long as possible but essentially end up with Ukraine either being invaded or a peace arrangement where Putin takes the east of Ukraine. The sanctions and support to Ukraine show that NATO will not tolerate this behaviour and Putin's confidence in invading a NATO country would be lower and less likely to happen.
Option 1 likely results in WW3 (50% chance).
Option 2 is where we are in the middle of, everyone of course is hoping a peace arrangement will happen, but it's not looking promising. If that fails, Russia will take Ukraine, but what happens with all the sanctions? Russia are being crippled financially and we have left little incentive for Putin to be nice to NATO. Where is the bargaining power? However, Russia are relatively self sufficient and Putin potentially does not care so much about the Economy or his people. So maybe Russia will become an isolated nation like North Korea but do not pursue any further invasion with any luck.
Likelihood of WW3 (30% chance).

I made myself lists of what to bring into my shelter because I know I won't be thinking clearly. I made 3 separate lists: what to take if I only have 15 min., what to take if I have a half- hour, what to take if I have an hour or longer. I'm far enough away from a target to bug in at home in my basement & have a lot of what I need already stored down there. Leaving would be fatal for me & that is my safest choice. Don't leave your home if you have no where to go!

Number 6, gather a lot of self defense mechanisms and mentally/physically prepare for raider attacks.
The best thing you can do is try to live as close to a major port, airport, air base, military installation, or company that makes any components or software for military equipment. So at least when the warheads drop you can be completely vaporized and you won’t have to inhabit the hell that would come afterwords

Life would be extremely hard, you would have to go far away from the fallout zones. You would probably have to drive for 5 hours just to find a good place to stay. Because then after 5 years, most stuff will be abandoned, and then another 9 years, rioters and raiders will come, and they will take and destroy everything you got, even people. Because after the real war, they will still be mini wars happening. Many people you love may be kidnapped or killed. And then at least world will be free of stupid people from online. I'm gonna be honest, this generation, is probably the last modern generation.
Agreed. If you survive, everything you eat, drink, breathe, will be irradiated. Gas shortages, food chain breaking, nuclear winter, power grid, medical attention, are just a few challenges you will have.

Half of my Russian family lives in Ukraine and they don’t even worry because they know that Russia (even putin) would never do that. There is a russian tank army, air defense and artillery units right near your city. So I would just try to evacuate myself if it's possible and easy
