      Russians are not making any 100 Megaton nuclear weapons, and if you want to have a solid scientific channel,

    No mention of firestorms, for some odd reason. Depending greatly on circumstances, the blast wave and radiation might kill few compared to the number perishing in immense fires.
    You could be cooked alive, die from inhaling poisonous smoke and fumes, or suffocate when the fire consumes all available oxygen. Everything would be in flames.

    • @veryimportantpooches2619
      @veryimportantpooches2619 Рік тому +2

      Incorrect. The firestorm theory was based on Hiroshima and Nagasaki where almost all the buildings were built from wood. Modern cities are predominantly brick and concrete. Firestorms will undoubtedly occur, it's just that the scale and size has been overplayed. Other factors like climate and weather at the time of the explosion also play a role.

      @@veryimportantpooches2619 Nuclear weapons unquestionably would set fire to large areas. Modern cities contain all sorts of highly combustible material, especially certain swathes of them. The blast is the same temperature as the surface of the sun, only it's not 93,000,000 miles away, it's a cab ride down the street.
      And it's worth remembering the obvious: No building code demands a standard of fire safety sufficient for protection against a nuclear blast.

    recommendations:
    1. get behind a structurally sound wall if you know the bomb is coming
    2. close your eyes if possible (the light can blind you for 10 min, up to 35 even)
    3. you probably have up to 10-20 min to gather your family and find a safe shelter after the initial drop
    4. staying inside or in a covered area that is unlikely to fall or be affected by the heat is smart
    5. a medium level nuke bomb's majorly affected areas are in a 2km radius around the drop point

      Sigh! The stay tuned part leaves me perplexed. How TF would electricity and cells and the internet work after a nuclear bomb? Even in post-apocalyptic movies they use a radio with batteries, but I don't get how could someone broadcast without electricity. Furthermore the graphic is totally misleading: can't imagine the chaos, hysteria, panic if such a disaster ever occurs!

    Taking 15 minutes to get to a shower and change of clothes means you have absorbed 25% of the 1000 R/hr radiation emitting near the blast. That is 250 Rads which is roughly 25 Gray. Dosages in Gray is like earthquakes on the richter scale-the numbers get serious really quickly. 1 gray is tolerable, 2 gray may not kill you if treated quickly by docs, 3 gray you're probably going to die quite painfully in a few weeks. Hypothetical shower man would be lucky to even have motor function after 15 minutes receiving a 25 Gray dose.

    To the people that are wondering why this 'randomly' gets recommended:
    It's likely that people have been actively searching for this after what's been going on in Ukraine. That behaviour is then recognised by the algorithm, which will then add it to recommended for more people. With more and more people clicking, more and more people will get this recommended.
