Compared to the aim120, it is bad. In simulation, everyone plays Americans and it's not a coincidence. The aim120 is better at hitting targets that fly very low and with the F16/F15C radars it's a breeze. In simulation, it's an ordeal to play the Russians or the Chinese because even if you dodge 1 or 2 missiles, you will have 3 more that come at you since you find yourself very quickly in 1 vs 4 since everyone leaves the game... If you want to increase your ratio in simulation, take the F16C and you'll see, you'll win with your fingers in your nose because no one stays until the end in the red team...😂 I think it's obvious that there's a problem somewhere because it's not balanced at all.
Ive been having a pretty good time in the SMT runnning 4 r77 and 2 ET. The R77 definently doesnt have the same reliability at range as the aim120 right now, but its still fairly competent. The ET's though are getting me so many kills. Probably because people arent dumping flares when they try to chaff something anymore, so it doesnt actually get flared off. Honestly my biggest gripe with playing it after the f16c is that the 10km ACM range feels bad now for slinging radar missiles and I have to use the search display at ranges where Id rather not
Su27SM and SMT are like just a step above the F4 ICE when compared to the 15C and 16C Their radar cant compete, their missile cant compete, their flight models cant compete. Exactly where is the alure here?
Yeah... We got some export model. And nerfed. Russia in reality has only R-77-1 missile. Yesterday, I launched 4 R77 to the last enemy, which was at a distance of 18 km and was flying straight at me. After 5km he simply turned to the right, and not a single missile even came close to him. R77 is just missile with drag chutes, or AHR R24/27R.
@Niko_rj The R77 had a very problematic development. And it hasn't really been used so I'd imagine it's hard to model in game "correctly" since real life data is non existent. And the data that does exist is likely locked up tight by the Russian MOD.

Honestly, this is the worst way to fly the MiG29SMT. Carry 4x R77 and 2x R27ER and FLY LOW! Don’t fly high unless at long distances and baiting out AIM120s and notching just to get the enemy team to waste some Fox 3s. The R77 is best sub-15km on the deck. Hella good. Also, besides the Mirages, the MiG29SMT is the fastest, quickest accelerating performing airframe on the deck. Also, with the exception of the F16 airframe I think it’s one of the best handling on the deck especially sub-10mins fuel. Last night I aced several times, survived the matches better than half the time, and almost always had at least 2 kills per match. But to do this you need to be on the deck and forcing sub-20km engagements and then merges so that you can get into a dog fight. The R27ERs are still kings within 20km and much more difficult to notch or out maneuver than Fox3s because they track immediately off the rail and they are twice as fast in acceleration and have a higher top speed due to the massive rocket motor. Plus they benefit massively from the multi pathing changes. The R73 is inferior to the R77 in my mind because of the range difference and you need to be able to launch and get kills out to 10-15km or you are going to get AIM9M or Aim120 killed depending on the scenario. Don’t sleep on the MIG29SMT. Run it fast and low and take a wide angle to flank the enemy and jump scare them. Use the terrain to jink incoming missiles and remember that speed is life.
Good damn right when r77 comes i try bvr with flying high fire from 50-40 km i got slapped every time from aim120 then i went low with helmet and and surprise targets and i got a lot of kills every single match r77 under 15km is deadly mig29smt at the deck is superior
Agreed, I can see the reason to take 9m in something like an f15, when you have 6 potent radar missiles anyway, but in a mig they are a waste of pylons

Invisible enemies is an old problem and its very anoying in GRB because you die by a shot of a place you were looking at and there was nothing there until you got hit, and im talking about open places not even forest and cities

The r77 are the worst fox3 by far and im saying this as the french main with USA France and Russia grinded to the top. The amraam is the best, MICA is amazing at close and medium range but because it twerks so much its usless at long range and the r77 is just sad. Its even worse on long range than mica and mica is way better at close so the r77 is just without real benefit against other. Im not saying you cant get kills with it, you can but its just i dont know disappointing. Edit: I dont know the r-darter and derby i hear that they are not to good.
The derby/darter isn’t awful but they feel a bit broken, their flight profile ruins them at longer ranges. They feel like they have the energy they just have a bad auto pilot. Closer though they feel fine

You need to grind more, it seems like you still dont understand the game fully, maybe you got there with premium. R77 is not a BVR missile so you are misusing it from the start, its a 50G missile signaling to everyone at all knowledgeable that its a close range missile, and when you start using it properly how its supposed to be used you will realize its actually the strongest missile of all

Love your videos! Learn alot from them, one thing ive never got to grips with though is those radar missiles, i have few mig 29s and top tier for various nations but tend to stick with 11.3 max. Due to not undrstanding enough about radar missiles, i tend to stick with the Er1 on my mig 29s if i decide to try top tier but stay within a target range of 10km. Can you recommend any info how i can learn the radar missiles like your doing? Ive watched pleanty of vids over the years but i still cant work them out. Keep up the great work and vids 😎 Thanks
Change radar or irst type from keybind. Get TWS . Change radar scale(distance). TWS will automatically find moving targets for you. Lock them. Get your radar or BVR missiles. Shoot. Keep your lock as long as possible. But as Mat said BVR kills are harder now as more people know how to notch and go cold. May the snail help you.
I'm having trouble with the R-27ER missiles. About 90% of the time I fire them, the enemy only needs to deploy one flare, and the missile goes for the flares instead of the target.

Derby and R Darter are very good at close range along with the Mica, Amraam excels at long range. The R77 excels at nothing which is the issue.

The 27ER is radar guided, so they will never be defeated by flares. You need to maintain your radar lock on the target.
