I’m 82 this year and all my life I have looked into the heavens and contemplated the billions of planets out there, many of which must have water cycles perhaps carbon cycles or even so far unknown cycles. There are equally valid arguments each for extraterrestrial life being non existent and for it being common, both in the past and the future (our time) and the great sadness is that I will never know.
Videos like this help me through the nights.

Nothing to do with the full context of this video, yet, you should never be embarrassed by what you did as a “kid”. I was 7 and visiting my uncle for Greek Easter, mother’s brother. Our family is mixed in that we have both northern and southern Greece in the mix, mom’s and dad’s. As my mother and I were walking alone up the veranda step, ahead of dad and my brother, I heard voices talking a different dialect/language, as apposed to modern Greek. Just a bit of background, I came to Canada at the age of 3 and spoke mostly our own language, except for my interactions at school.
I turned to my mother, and asked her in our own language, “ Mom, who are these people, and why are they speaking like this, are they really Greek?”. Being a curious child, I was confused as to what and who was at my uncle’s house, and now had questions. The men near the open door speaking Macedonian, looked at me frowning, turned to my mother, “ You should train your child to be seen, not heard, not question others, and behave himself!”, in now modern Greek. Thinking on this is putting a smile on my face, as the 5’1”, Greek she lion, rose and pulled out her claws.
“Watch your mouth, and never speak to my son in any other matter than being respectful! He is fine as he is and does, leave us now!”. They actually did a double take realizing who this was, the house master’s older sister. Their faces went blank, never said another word, and left going inside. Probably, most likely, relatives on my mother’s side, that I never met.
My wonderful protective mother, turned to me, smiling now, and fondly stroking my face and smoothing my hair, “dear, you can question and be curious all you want, and they are speaking Macedonian. Never pay any mind to those, like the ones that left, and listen to their nonsense! I will always listen to what you have to say, or ask”. Aside the fact it is a celebration of Greek Easter, I am the only one that has his name day for that, on both sides of the family, for celebration, and was a side star for today’s gathering.
“A curious child, has a curious mind, and becomes a curious adult, and that is how new ideas, and concepts are formed. Adults that hinder that, are really the “black holes” of society, sucking up the light, a curious child brings.” Never be embarrassed, never stop being curious, and never stop asking questions, as I know, and in memory of my mother, will never stop. Have a great day.

I have watched almost all of Dr. Kippings videos from Cool Worlds and am always eager for the next one. I'm probably not the first person to say this, but in my mind I sort of see him as a successor to Carl Sagan. The passion, the communication skills, and the willingness to ask the questions many professionals won't. But most of all the willingness to step outside his exomoon "specialization" and explore all the possible connections between what many see as competing fields and to effectively communicate those ideas in an easily understandable way. This interview gave me the same awe and inspiration I felt all those years ago when I first watched Cosmos as a kid and started my journey of curiosity. Thank you soooo much for all you do Dr. Dave!

I developed a theory about a new cosmology in 1979 and completed it in 1981. I wrote a paper (French language) about it the 80's in a Physic graduate student publication and went to other activities. Around the same time, during my first year of a Master Degree (measurement statistics/education department), I developed a new correlation coefficient and then went to other activities but made it public in 2008 on a UA-cam video (English) so as to officially register it so to speak (easier that way). As for the cosmology theory, I made an effort to write a book (English) about it in 2010 so there is a historical trace of it and then went to other activities. Both of them are not recognized and I do not care much (valid or not) as there are things that are much more important. To creators: your value as a person should be anchored on using your mind to help humanity regardless if your creations are recognized or not. It is a life journey, a long investment of your being towards humanity that is important and should bring you toward more serenity. I think Elon Musk is an example of this and there are many other examples.

The greatest thing about it is that Dr. David Kipping is a professional in his field, so he has a clear understanding of what he is talking about. He can go much deeper into the topics than the average physics channel, where you see the same information just in different forms over and over again. You need to have Ryan keeping on your podcast, once you read his story, you won’t regret it! Incredible Canadian born man! The ultimate discussion in my view: Ashley Cain, David Goggins, Alex Hormozzi and Ryan keeping.
Ps sorry if I missed anyone. I think having Huberman on the discussion would be interesting as well.

I wonder if an interesting conversation/interview you could have is with:
    Uncle Ben from the channel
    Urban Rescue Ranch?
    He's located in Waco, Texas.

    We don’t know.
We don’t know if we are alone.
We don’t know how the world ends.
We don’t know how it began.
We don’t know what the nature of consciousness is.
We are no closer to these answers than we were centuries ago.
We do know that all intellectual bandwidth spent on these questions and not on preventing institutions from amassing
power that crushes individual freedom is to our detriment.
What is the point of having the answers to any of these questions while living in chains?

    • @albertlevins9191
      @albertlevins9191 Місяць тому +4

      This is a fair argument.
      I am also in chains.
      I get it.
Yet, I am still interested in this.
Maybe I will get lucky and learn to see a pattern that has eluded me.
Still, we live in a dark world.
We need to figure out how to bring an end to managerial class...
      Let people live. FFS! 😮‍💨

      1) Yeah
      2) Can’t prove it we are but you can’t prove a negative
      3) I’m confident in omnicide for humanity. The Earth as a planet, unknown.
      4) Well…no we do. We even have very good theories on the origin of life.
      5) That’s a metaphysical philosophical question which is boring
      So, no, we are closer.

I'm just curious... Does science know where the centre of the universe is? If that position was known then wouldn't that be the likely position of the big bang and where it all emanated from and if that position is undetermined, who's to say it isn't outside of the Hubble sphere and we haven't seen anything of the true universe or its scale.
