I love all of Judas Priest's catalog but the 70's era is by far my favorite. Sad Wings Of Destiny, Sin After Sin, Stained Class, Hell Bent For Leather, and especially Unleashed In The East are AMAZING MASTERPIECES!!! I would have loved to have seen them live in the 70's. I do like some songs from Rocka Rolla also.
+The Universal Eye Well, there's Sgt Peppers, LedZep IV, Paranoid, etc.. But the point is well made. Sad Wings is immortal. I will venture that Sin after Sin is as well. The 2nd half of that album is immortal.
KKs legato vibrato solos are the psychedelic/ hendrixian thread through their early metal, sadly missed now. They convey emotion better than any fast arpeggio or scale can IMHO.
You are definitely "THE MAN" KK Downing, & my very favorite Guitarist in this whole wide world. Thank You for you're commitment to Heavy Metal. All Hail the PRIEST
My very first metal concert was British Steel and I saw Screaming For Vengeance, Defender's in Phoenix and the last Priest show I saw was Ram It Down in L.A. man what a ride! Thanks Ken!!
OMG, how cool is that - Mr. KK Downing sitting in front of you and playing his legendary tune on a guitar. And the fact that his guitar is unplugged just adds some special flavor to the momemnt. However, I wish he played the whole song, haha!
I remember the first time I heard victim of changes I was driving and had the cassette and I must have listened to it 50 times marveling at what a greatSong I had somehow missed.
The most amazing guitar tones I ever heard are on this album. The Gibson and Fender guitars. The Marshall amplifiers. And the bad ass effects heard prominently...flanger, phase, echo, fuzz, etc. I just wish more would be known about K.K. and Glen's signal chain's used for this favorite rock recording of mine. Tone at it's best!
Keep these album videos coming, KK!. Very interesting to hear what thoughts you have on all albums you have been part in. These are the ones for the metal history e-books!
Back then 102.7 WNEW New York used to play the best of all the new releases of the week on Tuesday night. They played Victim Of Changes and The Ripper. I bought the album the Next Day.
my very first album when I was 5 years old was British Steel and absolutely have been a fan ever since!!! when I was 8 my father took me to Indianapolis to my first concert to see Preist "Defenders of the faith tour" with Axe opening up... Great show and have been a fan every since!!!
I still have the vinyl, it blew me away when I heard it 40 years ago - that was for me a new definition of Rock music - the first band which continued what Sabbath started in the late 60s. The songwriting of "Sad Wings of Destiny" is still a rare gem in the Metal world.
He was part of a group that changed my life bk in 83.. Never forget it. Screaming tour w/ Iron Maiden warming them up. Total mind blowing experience. I had to have everything they ever Wrote then.. Looking bk at it all. Sad Wings is One of my favorites for sure.
Scott Duyser you’re so lucky you got to grow up when all this great music was happening in real time. I’m born in ‘92, but if I had a time machine, seeing a Maiden/Priest set would be my first stop, maybe even over seeing Zeppelin... then again, we’re all lucky we have access to videos like this through UA-cam.
A great album from the great musical year of 1976... Kiss Destroyer & Rock And Roll Over, Aerosmith Rocks, AC/DC Dirty Deeds Done Cheap, Thin Lizzy Jailbreak and Johnny The Fox, Led Zeppelin The Song Remains The Same and Presence, Black Sabbath Technical Ecstasy, UFO No Heavy Petting, Ted Nugent Free For All, Alice Cooper Goes To Hell, Etc. I listen to it on my iPod now but I still have the record in my collection. Still sounds amazing 40 years later.
Thank you Bro. For all the metal you have given us Priest is my favorite All time HEAVY METAL BAND .I LOVE EVERY PRIEST ALBUM YOU EVER WERE ON KK. DOWNING GUITAR LEGEND!!! I also want to thank you for these videos and i hope your enjoying your retirement sad wings classic priest EPIC!
And a great journey it is..One of my schoolteachers told me, bands like Judas Priest would vanish after a year or two...we had another 38 years coming :) Thank you Kenneth for being such an inspiration, thank you for opening my ears.
Gull Records was an absolutely shitty record label. But it did have one positive quality - their art director John Pasche. That man had a great mind for creating memorable album cover art. In addition to coming up with the Judas Priest's early Gothic band logo, it was him who designed the Sad Wings of Destiny cover. Sure, the painting itself was done by Patrick Woodroffe. But the image of a fallen angel in hell, wearing the infamous Judas Priest cross around his neck - that was all Pasche's vision.
Nice video. It looks like Ken has had fun making the video, and it certainly was enjoyable to me and put a smile on my face. I'm looking forward to the new KK's Priest album. 🤘🏻
I'll gave yo a fiver KK for it .. ok bab ........ thanks for so many Priestful memories. I heard a frustrated with numpty customers checkout lady of considerable age shout "Good God, pluck me" in Tesco's a few months ago.. I wanted to hug her !
Every time KK posts these videos, all I can think of is how he needs some guitar stands. I'm sure there's a company out there who will give him a few for free?
benjo12345100 Yep, when comes to "Rock Stars" the movie of the same name, pups on my mind, you know, the scene in which they show all the band memorabillia set in luxury casquets, guitars, platinum records and stuff carefully stored...reality seems a little bit different tho ;)...
Is it really 40 years, oh man how time zips by. Have to say a big thanks for all the times you came out and let us in at all the gigs around the London , St Albans, Watford areas, as well as a host of others. From 74 onwards until it just became to much hassle to convince the bouncers we knew you and we had to pay, heaven forbid. haha They were great days and you always asked our opinion about the shows after each gig, Great times,
Had the 8 Track. Had but,it does what 8 tracks do wear out and brake . Wish I had bought the record ,but can not find it as new. Think it is special with the artistry and the musics artistry also. The best when Priest played Victim of Changes and the great Re- make of Green Manalishi in the same live music set. Seen it done in 82 and the Ram it Down tour in Detroit Michigan! Man it JUST ROCKED!
KK downing needs to be back in Priest could you imagine Priest with KK downing and Richie Faulkner writing material together and playing live why I would actually buy a new CD I would even break down and go see them play
I told my dad that there is a 40th anniversary and he answered: Oh, don't tell me things like that! Ouch, I was twelve years old when it came up... Yikes, fourty years ago... That was the first studio album of Judas Priest which I heard.
Hey nice presenation! One of my all time favorite Priest albums of all time. I absolutely love Victim of Changes. Great great song! Way ahead of its time. I have to ask what were the guitars that you were using on that song and all the songs? Can you provide me with some info what guitars and amps you used? Thanks. I wish you continued success in your music...
I made that journey with you guys, I even remember playing a cover of beyond the realm's of death at a pub in Earlswood, long ago and even spending time in a band with Al Atkins brother in law. Many years later...good times.
gee a 40 year anniversary of Sad Wings of Destiny. gee do you think there will be a tour to mark this anniversary and will KK join Priest........oops it's already 2016 and no tour. oh well it's the thought that counts.
Ken, that is awesome !! To bad those wankers at Gull records are petty SPHINCTER FACED arse holes ! They keep repackaging Rocka Rolla and Sad Wings of Destiny !! Blessings to you and your family. You will always be respected and loved here across the pond in Utah, U.S.A ✌
+DelicateSoundOfThund I think they have problems with the rights. As far as I know Sony/Columbia do not have the right for the records before "Sin After Sin".
KK belongs in Priest. Now more than ever, love you KK.
Thank you K.K for the sounds you have added to my Life. Love you man. Thanks again

Sad Wings of Destiny is the greatest album of all time.
+The Universal Eye Indeed.
+The Universal Eye
Well, there's Sgt Peppers, LedZep IV, Paranoid, etc.. But the point is well made. Sad Wings is immortal. I will venture that Sin after Sin is as well. The 2nd half of that album is immortal.
Beast6228 at least JP's best.
Not even close.
Beast6228 It sounds like it was recorded in the dark ages which is part of its charm imo.
£1.00 to see Priest on the Sad Wings tour at Birmingham Town Hall, thanks for the memories KK, great gig
Clivegsd must of been amazing
That is awesome!! I would have loved to have seen Judas priest live in the 70's. I love their whole catalog but their 70's era is by far my favorite.
By far their best album, and one of the best metal albums of all time...
KKs legato vibrato solos are the psychedelic/ hendrixian thread through their early metal, sadly missed now. They convey emotion better than any fast arpeggio or scale can IMHO.
Yep, 5 note with taste and raw emotion beats the shit out of 50 just run through. There's a place for both but taste is the key.
I like his arrsvedercci aldente tremolo a bit more!
@@bluedream9668 haha
KK you will never be replaced in any way they care to talk about.
Thanks for scaring my musical mind with your Awesome talent.
A classic album that was a huge leap in the evolution of Metal. Just pure brilliance. Thank you Judas Priest.
An exceptional record, Halford still gives me chills on some songs.
Genius album, cover artwork and band, the best from the best!!! 🤘🏻👍🏼💖👁💥⚡🔥🎸

OMG, how cool is that - Mr. KK Downing sitting in front of you and playing his legendary tune on a guitar. And the fact that his guitar is unplugged just adds some special flavor to the momemnt. However, I wish he played the whole song, haha!
So awesome that K.K. Does these videos
He's one of the main reasons I started to play guitar. Thank you K.K.!!!
Hands down my favorite Priest record!
I remember the first time I heard victim of changes I was driving and had the cassette and I must have listened to it 50 times marveling at what a greatSong I had somehow missed.

Sad Wings of Destiny, amazing album!!, my favorite song is "Tyrant". Thank you for this videos, KK is a Guitar Master!!! /,,/
Sad Wings is my fave Priest album by far. Just listened again the other day. Early Metal could be so inventive. Thanks KK (and the rest of the band).
Best album ever made hands down👊🏻🤘🏻The one that made me pick up a guitar and knew that’s what I wanted to learn and sound like🤘🏻🤘🏻
The most amazing guitar tones I ever heard are on this album.
You might need a good effect geek for that as i can imagine both guys wont remember these details anymore.
Mind blowing to this day it holds up like pillars of steel. Much love KK! Thank you and Happy 40!
Keep these album videos coming, KK!. Very interesting to hear what thoughts you have on all albums you have been part in. These are the ones for the metal history e-books!

Sgt. Pepper of Metal. The single most important Metal album ever recorded. As good as any record by any artist.
Best álbum ever made in the planet
You are the greatest KK ,no priest without u....
He was part of a group that changed my life bk in 83.. Never forget it. Screaming

Great video K.K.! I would love to hear you speak on Sin After Sin since the 40th anniversary has recently passed for that one.
Bloody genius way ahead of there time ! I lived it ,caught it when it first came out !
Still got my copy from back then. I was even in a band called 'Jack The Ripper' in Luton named after the track on the album.
KK is so cool!
A great album from the great musical year of 1976... Thank you Kenneth for being such an inspiration, thank you for opening my ears.
Dude, that teacher of yours was a douche nozzle. A teachers job is to relay wisdom. That comment relays the fact that he/she had no wisdom to impart.

KK is the best.
... and the Gull era Diamonds and Rust was recorded during the Sad Wings sessions
Nice video. It looks like Ken has had fun making the video, and it certainly was enjoyable to me and put a smile on my face. I'm looking forward to the new KK's Priest album. 🤘🏻
Top Notch as always sir
I'll gave yo a fiver KK for it .. ok bab ........ thanks for so many Priestful memories. I heard a frustrated with numpty customers checkout lady of considerable age shout "Good God, pluck me" in Tesco's a few months ago.. I wanted to hug her !

Great Album
My favourite album ever.

Their all Flying V's, they don't need stands? Part of the design,
Oskar Toledo I love how most of that crap in that scene is judas priest related. That outfit that was rob Halford with the cap was a pure ripoff
really, I just gave 1k for a v he has a bunch of em.
They are v's dude...no stand needed
Is it really 40 years, oh man how time zips by. Have to say a big thanks for all the times you came out and let us in at all the gigs around the London , St Albans, Watford areas, as well as a host of others. From 74 onwards until it just became

No KK no Priest! The other guys can keep the Judas. KK rules!
Had the 8 Track. Had but,it does what 8 tracks do wear out and brake . Wish I had bought the record ,but can not find it as new. I believe AL Atkins contributed a song on this album.
Used to sing along with Rob in my bedroom playing on 10. Great times
KK #1
This video was uploaded on my 13th birthday.
Jaizz J. Z. time. .... never slows down, never feels pity.
And stops when you're waiting for a concert or new Judas Priest album, or might KK return... :P
Kenny? did this bring back some memories and inspirational ideas
I want that vinyl!
My favorite Priest Album followed by Stained Class.
The Spanish version is the only one I don't have. It's hard to get hold of that version and it can be expensive 😔
Mine is so Old the cover is thick cardboard it a original I've had since I was a kid a great Head phone record
so before it's time
I made that journey with you guys, I even remember playing a cover of beyond the realm's of death at a pub in Earlswood, long ago and even spending time in a band with Al Atkins brother in law. Many years later...good times.
Cool unfortunately 4 Dislikes from Lady Gaga fans
KK fix that cam focus dude:)
KK, please tell everyone that album starts with Prelude and not Victim of Changes. Put an end to the confusion once and for all.
"Deceiver" sounds better as the album's closer.
Who came up with idea of swapping sides on this album?
Who the hell managed to film him out of focus, and in seemingly 240p resolution?
My first choice........sad wings!!!!
I never understand why Andy and not Kenny !!! Ken is the real guitarist. Sad for Glenn
gee a 40 year anniversary of Sad Wings of Destiny. gee do you think there will be a tour to mark this anniversary and will KK join Priest........oops it's already 2016 and no tour. oh well it's the thought that counts.
Somebody know what t-shirt K.K is wearing??
'just took a sandwich and beer brake...' Haha
It's all very well for some mr downing.
Easy on the corners KK
Ken, that is awesome !! To bad those wankers at Gull records are petty SPHINCTER FACED arse holes ! They keep repackaging Rocka Rolla and Sad Wings of Destiny !! Blessings to you and your family. You will always be respected and loved here across the pond in Utah, U.S.A ✌
how about a 40th anniversary BOx set???
+DelicateSoundOfThund I think they have problems with the rights. As far as I know Sony/Columbia do not have the right for the records before "Sin After Sin".
Damn it maybe kk is able to answer my question
