guess we can say it was his way of helping Junior out in return after he stood up for him when Sanka tried squandering his hopes of living in Buckingham Palace.
Sanka diving over the table and clotheslining that fella is burned into my memory. Little 12 year old me thought that was the funniest shit 😂 What a great movie 🤙
😅😂 Funny thing is I was watching this scene with my friend and the first thing he said when the class shattered was, "You can't do that". He pointed out that in real life glass wouldn't shatter like that
So true felt so engrossed in films back then didn't feel like a film, it was an adventure hehe! Like my bro said, the golden age of movies is gone now ;( But there are the odd rare gems out there
This scene actually inspired me during a scene in "50 to 1", which I was an extra in. This wasn't used in the movie, but there was a scene in which the Derby spectators, which I was one of, had to react as though our horse was losing. I had a beer bottle with a small amount of liquid in it, and I figured I could slam the bottle hard enough to make the liquid splash out like Junior did with his mug, and if the cameras caught it, it would look great. They either didn't catch it or didn't use it, but when I slammed the bottle the liquid splashed out, on both takes, and I yelled out, Ten grand down the toilet thanks to a horse that ain't even worth two cents!" And I did it without breaking the bottle.
W W Then why does the original comment have likes? Instead of being bitter about the fact that you have never had opportunities like this in your life, go out and make them happen. Picking fights with complete strangers on the Internet for no reason won’t do anything to improve your life. All it does is get you blocked. Have a nice life.
Perhaps the only reason Derice wasn't in this bar scene was because he was expected to say in the hotel room and study the bobsledding turns which is what Irv said in the beginning when he was putting them in places on what seat they should sit in where Irv said when the driver's teammates are out having beers, the driver has to stay in the hotel room studying turns being responsible for everything. I guess the only reason Irv made Derice the driver was because this bobsledding team was all Derice's idea.
What confuses me (and I’m only just realising it now after 27 years) is after John candy’s speech to sanka about the responsibilities of the bobsleds driver why is the captain of the Swiss team out drinking instead of learning the track like he’s supposed to ?
This is kind of like in the movie Swinger when one guy´s friend tell him that the is money but this scene is better. it´s good to have friends like that that backs you up and believe in you.
Intolerance and heckling of the Jamaican bobsled team was all Hollywood. They were cheered on by the other teams. One of whom donated a backup sled to help them qualify. Doesn't make a good movie though.
It's the team from East Germany that with whom the characters get into a bar fight in this scene; talk about cold war hang-ups.The Swiss instead serve as Derice's idols and role models.
you are right, this is fucking awesome...me and my sister watched this a thousand times since we where little and im 18 now...we can tell you every sentence off the movie because its such a great and funny one and this is one of my favourite parts:-)
She was already wearing his hat, you know Sanka was about to get in them country girl guts, but threw it out the window to have his teammates back... Real homie right there...
1:35 I like to think THIS was what happened to MEG (Family Guy - Dial Meg for murder) when she was in JAIL & those black ladies she met in there hooked her up & taught her to say THIS about herself! lol
Yul went from a self-centered lone wolf to an absolute team player and delivered one of the best pep talks I've ever heard.
"I see pride. I see power. I see a badass mother who don't take no crap off nobody!" - Gotta love Yul Brenner!
guess we can say it was his way of helping Junior out in return after he stood up for him when Sanka tried squandering his hopes of living in Buckingham Palace.

This is probably my favorite part of the whole movie
Nah, their arrival in Canada always gets me. "It's not the heat, it's the humidity that'll kill ya."
same
My favorite is the whole movie
My favourite part is when they fell off the Nakatomi plaza and John Candy said you're a wizard Gandalf
Sanka diving over the table and clotheslining that fella is burned into my memory.
Little 12 year old me thought that was the funniest shit 😂
What a great movie 🤙
*_"Yippee Ki-Yay!"_*
That part still makes me wheeze 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
3:45
Did he really just say Yippie Kay Yay???
Like John McClane does in Die Hard????
to be honest I had thought this is where the origin of that phrase came from lol
"No problem, man" *BOOOOOOM* right in the face and flies backwards about 10 feet lmao! Dat's what I call PAWA!!! Best film ever!
Dan Lawlor because he knew he had PAWA!!!
I was just about to comment something like that. Yul's got a hell of a right hand.
It's always the yippe Kai yai that gets me lol
Right lol
That was the funniest part of the bar fight scene.
No question, he gets straight to the point 🤣🤣🤣🤣💀
Interesting. Hmmmmm
I see pride I see power, I see a badass mother who dont take no crap off nobody
You really see all that?
..WON'T take no crap off of nobody.
We all need a bestie like yul 🔥👏👏
@@MrDeadhead83 yea mon! But it's not what I see! It's about what you see!!
"Come on Jamiaca say something", "no problem man" POW!! haha
One of best films ever :)
Love how happy Junior is when he shatters that bottle over that dudes crown - only to get his own shit bashed by another guy XD
😅😂 Funny thing is I was watching this scene with my friend and the first thing he said when the class shattered was, "You can't do that". He pointed out that in real life glass wouldn't shatter like that
Me and my brother got into a scuffle once and i said the "come on jamacia say something" line and we both started laughing, all good after that.
Well, that never happened.
I see pride, I see power. I see a badass mother who don't take no crap off nobody! You tell him Junior.
I love this movie, and this scene is my favourite.
Go Jamaica from Chile!!
Sanka's flying attack is the greatest thing ever.
Well, with great power comes absolutely no responsibility - Eminem
Lol "I see a badass muddah who don't take no crap out of nobody!"
One of the best scenes in this movie!!!!!
My Favorite part is Sanka jumping in. Thats gang for you 😂😂
and then there is the Canadian Cowboys
"whose side are we on? ... who cares its a bar fight!!!!!!"
This is Calgary to a tee.
Sanka Said The Die Hard Quote, "Yippee Ki Yay" Movie Released In 1988 Same Year From The 1988 Winter Olympics.
LOL i couldn't stop laughing when sanka said "Yippy kiyaaa!!" loooooool! ;D
One of my childhood classics pure nostalgia 🙌👌
3:16 You just know shit's going down.
@ 3:27 the guy tries to tackle Yul. But no avail.
God I miss movies like this

When Sanka jumped in off the table I couldn't stop laughing
sanka is the best "yippie cayyee" lol one of the funny parts of cool runnings
love it when you see that Sanka swapt hats with the blond girl !
When Junior gets hit in the head with a beer bottle his FACE 😂
One of the hilarious bar fights in movie history. It gets way funnier.
this video was posted when i was two days old
Sanka was fearless!
this part of the movie sparked my love for all in brawls haha
Yul standing up slowly is still pretty intimidating. sets a precedent for how he behaves the rest of the movie on
He don't take shit from anyone, raised on the Jamaican streets must been rough.
@@ninjavigilante5311 I lived in Jamaica as a kid and trust me you don’t want to pick a fight with the locals . 😂
Junior is so adorable i love him :D

i took yuls advice all the way to adulthood still as powerful 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💕
This and the bobsled team song are the only parts I remember from this movie.
I love this movie! RIP John Candy too.
ROFLMAO!!!! One of the funniest movie Bar Fights of all time!!!
Damn. Even the Soviets got involved.
Swear this is the best movie ever!
The first time I heard Roadblock was going to be in a G.I. Joe movie, Malik Yoba was my first choice to play him.
I love how sanka decides he needed to join in to help his pals even though he was probably of no use
My god you right buddy! I miss the 1990th all the way up to 2003 when films were just adventure!
The way Sanka has no idea what the fight is about but he immediately jumps in to defend his team mates!
I want to know what this scene would be like if it was not a Disney film.
2:40 What’s the song?

They’re East Germans. Plus that’s what a driver should be doing, Derice took what Irv said to heart
A good life lesson when standing up to bullies dont be violent but do stand up for yourself.
Sanka just head first into the fight . No questions needed. U mess with my teammates I jump in
Best movie clip in the world
I love the look back at the mirror after hes all pepped up and storms off lol
Sanka went full bros before hos in like a split second

This was basically the attitude of the West Indies cricket team during the 1970's and 80's. Especially in the 70's..
