The amount of time Cassie spends running toward the camera in this movie continues to shock me. So much repetition.
I feel like that's what happens when they don't go back and re read what they wrote. Taking multiple passes, with different eyes, can quickly pick out repetitive stuff like that.
I had so many issues with this movie and a lot of new ones that you pointed out, but what made me hate this movie was how they butchered and made the next “big bad” of the MCU that supposedly dominated universes was beaten by ants…………🤦♂️🤦♂️ good job marvel you just made the next big bad for the MCU less intimidating than Loki.
I needed more than like, 5 seconds, of him annihilating universes in a sloppily edited flashback.
those were Type 2 civilization ants (for instance we humans are not even Type 1 yet, even after so much advancement) and they were not regular sized ants, they were also in a huge quantity, plus Kang was weak in the Quantum Realm (that's why his variants sent him there)
before complaining, please do actually understandable the movie
Biggest flaw of this movie is Kathryn newtons poor acting which is very unfortunate because I thought she’d be good at Cassie
She just didn't seem like who the original Cassie would grow up to become.
I think she was also given a lot of bad direction or no direction at all in many of her scenes, so she often ends up looking confused or lost.
Cassie turned into another Mary Sue. Newton looks like her dad is a rich Floridan somebody who got her into the gig and zero talent.
@@y.reviews Why everybody is all up in arms about not giving Emma Fuhrmann a much bigger Cassier role here than she originally had in Avengers Endgame. Not only is Jeff Loveness a bad writer for Ant-Man and for other Marvel material in general, but Peyton Reed is also a poor director who disregarded Emma because...his answer for that is, he thought Kathryn would be better (than Emma?) at hanging out with Paul Rudd and not being left in the dust, yet he was still bad at directing her new acting anyway.
Biggest missed opportunity in my opinion, was that Hank & Janet didn’t have suits, it would’ve been cool to see the entire “Ant-Family” suit up together.
It also could’ve been a great way to have the vintage suits make a return.
cool idea, but it should be remembered that in the first Ant-Man it is stated by Hank that he can't/won't wear the Ant-Man suit again due to his extended usage of it taking a mental toll on him
@@arktya Exactly, so a situation comes up that forces him to break that rule he set for himself and we see the consequences! I think that's called drama or conflict or something. I dunno I'm not a writer lol .

the thing I hated the most was when it got to the end and it seemed like Scott and Hope were trapped in the quantum realm forever and for a moment I thought "oh, this is actually an interesting twist!" then they were just like "ok lets go home" ... -_-
It definitely felt like they were leading up to them being left behind in the quantum realm, pretty disappointed they didn't follow through with it
Scott has being stuck in Quantum Realm in both movies before, give that guy a rest

I’m honestly amazed that there are people who still think Thor Love & Thunder and Captain Marvel were worse than this, when THIS film was tasked with introducing us to Kang The Conqueror who is supposed to be our new Thanos and the new big threat for the next few phases of the MCU and yet the film managed to turn him into a complete chump who gets his ass beaten by ants…
Thor and this movie are similarly bad, I don't feel the same way for captain marvel anymore because clearly I treated that movie too harshly with all the trazh we have gotten since Endgame

Only thing I remember is that, A very Powerful villain named 'Kang The Conquer' who has conquered through the Multiverse. Who probably uses the most advanced technology. Who also has weapons on his sleeves that gets short circuited at the end of the final battle.
I saw it in theaters and I couldn’t stop laughing (we were the only ones in the theater). But I had very dumb fun

In the shots with the hair detail, I think it’s because they were shooting against a StageCraft backdrop, so they didn’t have to digitally composite the strands of hair like they normally would?
Very possible. The scenery Janet is in front of could be easily set up like that. Not saying keying it out is impossible, all up to how evenly it's lit. The bigger takeaway was how inconsistent it was throughout the movie.
You still always do, i am guessing the roto companies in one shot just had more time... since hair are super labour intensive...

Personally I didn't hate quantimania as a movie. Don't get me wrong, it's by far the worst ant man movie, and it's not good by any means, but I didn't hate it as much as other people did. What I do hate is that this is the movie they used to set Kang up as the new thanos. This is supposedly the most powerful version of Kang, dangerous enough to be exiled to the quantum realm, and he gets solo'd by ant man? Thanos started his big movie off by subduing the hulk and killing a god. Kang can't even beat a baskin robbins employee
Your problem with the performance of Kang is the same as mine. He’s a CONQUEROR, not someone who mopes around or looks off into the sunset longingly. He shows too much restraint and mercy for a dude who obliterates entire planets.
Dude I know right. Like, he can do all that maybe when he's first introduced but at some point, start conquering. In the flashbacks, I wanted him doing way more than meaningless body explosions or whatever the hell that was.

Idk if you’ll read this, but I appreciate this perspective you’re offering. Instead of a basic “marvel gone woke/marvel killing itself” take, you take the moment to acknowledge the cg artists involved and how it’s unfortunate that these scenes are rushed.
I’d much rather watch an empathetic person dissecting a topic, versus generating sloppy rage bait.

If the movie ended with Scott and everyone in that restaurant, but then they reveal they're still in the Quantum Realm, being puppeted by Kang, making them think that they defeated him and got out. Might have been a little more interesting...

Even crazier thing about this movie is that its titled Ant-Man and "THE WASP" : Quantumania, and yet they didn't even try to increase the screen time of the wasp in the movie.
I think Wasp and that one Holes creature got equal screen time.
I watched this film for the first time a couple days ago with my cousin, and lets just say we both laughed like insane men whenever MODOK was on-screen.
This genuinely feels like the whole “Soul versus Soulless” thing but for real.
I remember passing out in the theater watching this. Never rewatched and I have Disney+
Concept of "quantum" physics is hard to write, and they failed badly. This just feels like an alien planet or something.

What a great question. I honestly thought about this for a while. Jokes aside there were some impressive single shots here and there where you can tell the CG teams put a lot of effort into. That and the fact this movie did give hundreds of people jobs over a few years. That's gotta be worth something..
Your take on Kang and Majors taking long pauses, it's meant to make him look like he's always calculating. Problem is he made so many dumbass mistakes it just makes him look like an idiot. Majors, despite his real life drama, is a great actor, just wasn't directed the right way.
Agree. There's menacing pauses but his went like a few seconds over in my opinion.
Finally someone said it. Jonathan Majors was not good as Kang. His fake 'royal' accent with a pause every few syllables was so bad. I haven't seen him in anything else so I can't really say if he's a good or bad actor but he was definitely poor in the MCU. He was better in Loki but still overacted.
These are the types of movies you get when you stop hiring for talent and you hire for what skin color someone is or what's between someone's legs.
You can't really say whether he's a good or bad actor but you can say Marvel just pick actors based on skin colors and gender?? That's just racist and misogynistic.
Majors was great in Creed 3 and Hostiles, though that latter role is small. But sucks as Kang, in here and Loki.

This is one of the few movies that have disappointed me the most in my life, love Ant-Man, wanted the movie to be good so bad, now its right next to Captain Marvel for least favorite MCU movie, I'd rather watch Love and Thunder on repeat.
THANK YOU so many people were saying that Jonathan Majors was gonna be the next big thing or some shit when the only thing ive actually enjoyed him in is creed 3 and loki. Everything else he just feels like hes trying way to hard, and his "accent" in the movie was so all over the place, sounded british at times, american other times, a mix of both sometimes. This movie was such a disappointment and he just did absolutely nothing to help its case
There were glints of an intimidating performance here. They could've kept up the intensity a bit more in some spots. Just wasn't a fan of the empty silences.
Yeah, I didn't think much of him either. When I heard about all the allegations against him, I was quite shocked as everyone else was but then watching this movie on DVD, I can confirm that I didn't miss much. He was trying way too hard to be scary and frightening. I mean Elizabeth Olsen did a much better job of being scary in Multiverse of Madness despite the messy script.

Didn't even like him in Loki. It was like he was trying to be Nic Cage. Here, he was written and acted as a cartoon villain.
He was really good in Hostiles though.

Eh, agreed on pretty much everything plus the stupid dialogues and humor from Marvel of course. But I'll just say that Kang having that slow and long pauses speech mannerism is due to him being one of the many variants. I used to hate the way the Kang in the Loki series talked but I've come to appreciate it since as a supposed villain, he's not menacing in his way of talking. Let's just expect all these Kangs to be so different.

The critics are correct about the poor special effects, weak plot, and lack of character arcs, but I don’t hate the movie as it does a good job exploring the Quantum realm and introducing Kang as the big bad, but it still plays a major role in the Multiverse story arc.

Nah nah, after you rewatch it a second time, it’s likely that it will just be better. If that really was possible, then it the movie would be impossible.

These are weird nitpicking reasons to not like the movie. An average viewer wouldn’t feel any bothered about the smallest details here. I do agree the film is bad and looks mids
I was so disappointed by this movie, I liked the first two movies because of the small scale adventures but this was such a mid movie.

Bro, no. I have been a marvel fan since Phase 1 and I can say without a doubt Phase 4 is the weakest. Phase 5 is alright so far but that's because GOTG Vol.3 being great. It's very clear that the CGI Teams are overworked with the amount of projects alongside the time needed for each project. The writer's side also needs some help from being generic. Hate is trendy but not this time, the hate is more or less justified here.
