The part with the 1.2 being a huge improvement over the 1.1 is pure gold.
He’s the number 1 gear reviewer in the world. We all need to listen to Jeff
The conversation with the groomsmen about the 50mm 1.2 was absolutely hilarious. "The better than the 1.1!" I'll remember that more than anything else in this video. Thank you for your humor! Just started my day with a laugh!
That’s Jeff Maeck the officiant. He is going to be my new go to guy for gear reviews.
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto How could you not go to him after the pizza documentary?
Too funny!
I rented the 50 1.2 for a commercial shoot a few months back and the images that came out of it are really spectacular. I still don’t love the 50 as a focal length, but if it were on a crazy sale I’d have to pick one up - this lens made me want to learn to love it. 😂
I have the 35-150 and it’s amazing for the ‘fillers’ but the 50mm is perfect for a good number of Candids but for the exceptional
Shots it’s amazing. I rented for my last weekend of weddings this year and put it on a second body and felt I had everything
50mm is growing on me, I often shoot wider or longer than the range in the middle, bought several 50mm lenses until this one and now shooting with it more often and liking it.
Hah same. I feel like I forced the transition a bit, since my brain always wants an 85mm or a 35. I assume that’s just from using that combo for like 15 years though
For weddings I use my 55mm 1.8 Zeiss on the Sony combined with my Leica Q ~28mm 1.7 having a decent 2 body relatively light set up. I see the 50 1.2 use case more in portraits especially with the low dept of field.
Beautiful video ! Love the go pro close to you 👍🏻
Could you please tell me what do you think of the Sigma 50mm F1.4 Art for a Sony A7RIV and wedding ?
It would fit right ?
It seems perfect compare to the Sony 50mm F1.2 Gm
Great video!
I use this lens religiously on the A1 and Z9 adapted. Cant wait to try it with the A7R V
I'm shooting my first wedding next week. The 50 GM is my first choice for sure!
It’s a very nice time for sure. Have fun!
Great video! is this Lens good for video?
What ND filter range to choose? I am thinking 2-64x would be perfect for this lens :) Thanks (bright daylight etc.)
thanks for adding some comedy to all the dry photography content out there.
I normally shoot with the 55mm 1.8, LOVE that Lens! I rented the 1.2 a few weeks ago to test it out and I was finding my in-focus hit rate was not as good as my 55mm. They also seem to have a different look to them. I think I like the 55mm more. I love the 1.2 though!!! Using A7iv
Interesting about the focus. Would have figured the 55 would have had a higher percentage of out of focus since it’s a bit older. They’re both great lenses
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto I should have mentioned I was shooting video.
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto Maybe it's his copy of the A7IV body, not the lens? I just can't trust the eye AF on my A7IV... but I really, really want to! 😕
I'm torn on this lens. I feel like I should probably get it to have the 1.2 when the lighting is reallllly low, but because of its weight, its probably not something I'm going to rely on for most of the day.
I´m amazed that you did the shots indoor with poor light without flash. How high was your iso? Do you use Topaz Denoise or another program afterwards? How often do you change aperture on a day like this on the 50 1.2? Greaaaaat video
Sony handles low light pretty well, I have the same set up (ish) and hardly use flash either.
After the firmware update for the Sony A7IV (version 1.10), have you experienced the camera overheating?
I have the tolerance set to high or whatever it’s called, but haven’t had any problems.
Great video! I enjoy watching your wedding videos. All your views are probably from me over and over again, so you're welcome :)
Also cracked up at "What are you guys talking about..." "the daily wire"! LOL
Beautiful
How are you finding the wireless crop-ability Taylor?? 😂
My absolute favorite lens and before this one came out wasn’t a big 50mm user!! Now for the 85mm 1.2!!!!!
Hah. 85mm f1.2 would be a heavy one for sure
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto True but can you imagine the images if it is as good as the 50mm 1.2!?
@@lauriewahlig2819 My thought is that I'm probably only going to ever buy one 1.2 lens, just to have that low-light capability. And if I'm only going to have one, 50mm makes the most sense, because it's the most versatile focal length.
nice.
I would like to upgrade my 50mm 1.1 to the 1.2 justa because of the wireless capabilities.
That’s why I did it
I also often had the 50mm 1.2GM on my camera for weddings. A truly outstanding lens - no weaknesses.
Now I had the opportunity to photograph a family celebration with the 55mm 1.8 from Zeiss and I have to say that the difference is less than expected.
Yes, it's not that bright. Yes, it has more CAs. Yeah, the minimum focusing distance isn't as great as the GM.
But considering the price, I don't think there is a better lens in the 50mm range for Sony. Value for money is outstanding and in my opinion even better than the 50mm 1.2GM.
The combination of A9 and 55mm 1.8 is really strong. The autofocus is super fast and reliable - even in poor light conditions.
The image quality in terms of image sharpness and bokeh is simply amazing for a lens of this size.
Now I'm even toying with the idea of selling the 50mm 1.2 GM, I'm so excited about the 55mm 1.8.
Anyway, thanks for your video, wonderful shots.
Yah the 55 is so strong.
I’m a fan of the form factor as well. Very happy it exists.
Im still prefer the 35-150. Obviously 1.2G its such a great lens. But the range and versatility of the other its a killer bonus.
I have the 28-200 but searching the 35-150 hope coming soon on the next year.
Im remember when i bought the 28-200mm i was no looking for that lens really. I was for 24-70 2.8 sigma, but when i feel theres no connection between us. Hahaha other way the 28-200 feel mine since the first moment.
I remember when you first started posting videos on the Sony system, you didn’t really care for this lens too much.
I also think you said you weren’t a 50 shooter before when you sold the Canon 50mm 1.2.
Nice to see opinions evolve.
Tim is making a movie about a tree coming 2023 by Marvel Studios.😂😂😂
I prefer the Sigma Art 40 mm f:1.4. It is a bit wider and feels very natural. And it gives you an amazing Quality for a much lower price.
I haven't actually used that lens. I'll give it a try sometime
It’s very rare but the focal length is interesting!
Sigma 40 1.4 is one of the best lens in the world. It was designed by Sigma cine lens team. The only downside is the weight.
how shoot without flash ........??????
Спасибо. Очень понравился ролик. Хочу себе 50\1.2. Но больше всего хочу купить 35\1.4 )))
Girls hands reflecting in water is a good shot
3:45 that guy is hilarious
That laugh sounded like Butt-Head.😂😂😂
Many think mike judge was the voice of butthead but it was me
So does this mean we lost a Canon soldier? 😢
Still lots of R3 videos to come :)
Hopefully a Tamron 35-150mm comes to Canon soon
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto faith in humanity restored…although I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for Canon to open the R Mount. 🤷🏻♂️
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto I've been shooting Nikon since I started, but the versatility and AF on the Sony + Tamron 35-150mm combo that you have reviewed has me considering a switch. The colors on Sony seem better than older sensors but not as nice as what I get out of the Z6II or GFX. Would you see yourself sticking with the R3 mostly for stills if the Tamron was available for Canon?
The Sony 50mm 1.1 was a terrible lens to be fair 🤣
Did that one have the wireless croppability? I forget
dont show sony camera setting ................. by indian
😁😁
