Of course Emperor Palpatine built the Death Star for benevolent purposes , everything that he did was for the betterment of the galaxy. But the murderous rebels wanted the galaxy to be destroyed , so they destroyed both Death Stars .
It was built to maintain his rule and dominance over the Galaxy and to eliminate any and all threats to him and to his empire. It’s just power for the sake of power.
I'm pretty sure he bulit it to blow up rebellious planet's that's what the movies state at least. Even if his ultimate goal is to keep enimes like the vong out he's not doing it out of the goodness of his heart but rather so he can be the sole person with power.
An important distinction; The Vong weren't just ' invisible in The Force '. They exist OUTSIDE of it. A Force push would fizzle out against them. A Force user can't sense their presence, nor next attack/intent (no precognition)
LOve legends , i have most of the novels . Wish Disney had follow the newest set of movies based on the continuity . Even tho the Vong were powerfull , it was mentioned in a novel . That Palpatines Empire and 25k star destroyers would of made short work work of the Vong invasion , the new republics small fleet and ethics and senate slow decisions is what led to such a huge blow to the galaxy
Here is how Palpatine viewed things. The Republic was a stepping stone to the empire. And the empire was a stepping stone to the “dark empire,” which essentially was a test to see if he can defend the galaxy from an external threat. If he master even that, then he was worthy of ruling the universe beyond the galaxy.
I really want them to do a movie/show about sharad hett! Would be the perfect way to introduce the vong in his later years, but I think it would be a super big hit! A lot of fans don’t know his story, Fans would get to see more of the culture of the Tusken raiders (which the book of boba did a great job of) Then they’d get to see him growing up as a Jedi under Jedi Master ki-adi-mundi, maybe introduce the comic where he removes his mask in front of Anakin showing him not all tuskens are monsters.. (and obviously didn’t report anakin after hearing him say he slaughtered a whole tribe of his people) order 66 happens and he goes home to tattooine and becomes the head of his and his father’s tribe, all that time raiding and killing… which leads him to raiding moisture farms… Just a little bit too close to “the REAL chosen one” Which causes one of the most impactful changes in hett’s life.. When hett gets too close to Luke and Ben Kenobi gets in his way, kenobi doesn’t want to hurt him as kenobi easily could have during their fight, instead “old Ben” removes his mask in front of his entire tribe therefore proving him unworthy to lead! He is then abandoned in the sands by his tribe!! Utterly defeated… he became a bounty hunter, which led him to korriban.. After that he is imprisoned and tortured by the vong, and eventually becomes the beloved “Darth Krayt” the “ONE SITH” just imagining the part of the movie/show where he comes out of hiding to help Luke face abeloth….. #chills!!!! Then after he goes into stasis, he re-emerges to spark the “sith imperial war” leading to the destruction of the galactic federation of free alliances, Also attempting to destroy the new Jedi order. He finds the existence of a “skywalker” (Cade) So he hunts down cade, however he ends up getting stabbed, electrocuted, and sent flying off a cliff. This ultimately doesn’t kill him, and his trusted advisor Darth wyyrlok tries to murder him believing he is the sith’s downfall. Krayt heals himself from the death experience, and retakes coruscant from wyyrlok. He tries to turn Cade skywalker to the dark side and fails, Cade is able to kill him and incinerate his body so he couldn’t come back physically…
The Yuuzhan Vong are a dangerous enemy to be reckoned especially since they're force resistant to Force users. I can imagine if Starkiller was strong enough to defeat the Yuuzhan Vong all by Himself.
They weren’t resistant to force lightning. Starkiller would’ve only had marginal difficulty as he’d had to use objects that are non Vong in order to affect them when not using lightning
The technology from palpatines Death Star is obviously stolen technology from an older time, that belonged to the eternal throne, which would mean that palpatine wasnt a true heir to the throne, those rulers protected the galaxy to some extent with the same type of technologies in the distant past from unseen forces, while the republic and new empire deemed them as a threat…it seems to me that neither the light side users or dark side users truly understand their purpose in the galaxy’s as they were created alongside each other and originally trained alongside each other as though they were intended to actually fight together as a single coherence force, there may actually be a secret in the force that has not been learned by both types of force users either individually or paired that unlocks abilities to defeat these types of threats from beyond the outer rim or wherever they come from, for example a new force sense that would detect this species that appears cloaked by normal force abilities…similar to how sentenials were trained to sense dark side users, this new race is using biological engineered weapons and this living or undead presence originates from some place with the force, it’s just a matter of connecting with this new entity
Well, the legends content shows he was fully aware of the Yuzhan Vongs existence. And that was the biggest threat to the galaxy ever. He knew full well he'd have to deal with the Yuzhan Vong at some point in his reign.
But another note are the Ss-runk (spelling?). An alien species that actually took the life force of people (still alive) and used their souls to fly their fighters. He actually made a deal with them, only for them to break it and attack Bakura.
Also, Mace Windu had a vision of Coruscant being destroyed by the Vong. His vision is so graphic and vivid that it not only shook him, it is on the Wiki page about the fall of Coruscant.
The emperor was not doing it for the galaxy but to use on some one that threatened his grip on power. The closes thing to do it out of the kindness of his heart is to protect his army, navy an resources.he would also protect his most loyal base of people.
The Yuuzhan Vong weren't the primary reason Palpatine did anything, but they were a convenient excuse. Any time he could accomplish one of his real goals and use the threat of the Far Outsiders as an extra justification was a bonus. An invincible (in theory) weapon that could take out a planet in a single shot was for terrifying dissidents into submission first, and popping Vong Worldships second
Sidious and Tarkin would have an ‘oh crap’ moment if the Vong absorbed the Death Star’s laser into a singularity shield. They’d look at each other thinking, “It takes 24 hours to reload this pop gun?”
As a Sith fan I'd vouche for them in any debate, but the flaw of this theory is that Sidious should have began negotiations with the Rebels and tell them about the threat. Instead he wanted to wipe them out, which was not cost effective. Especially if he was about to get ready for the Vong.
He's a Sith! Negotiations would be a form of weakness. He didn't expect the rebels to win. As he set the trap above Endor demonstrates. He didn't see the Ewoks being the catalyst for his defeat.
@@jamesbrigham1299 What about the knowledge he gained from the destruction of the first Death Star? If he was eager to prepare for the outside enemy he must have been aware that the rebels are terrorists, they cannot be taken lightly
Imagine if the time & effort put towards the new trilogy (even though the time & efforts were futile & unnoticeable) was put towards George’s original intended third trilogy with yuzong vong & darth krayt & darth talon
Legacy of the Force would have been a better Sequel. Takes place just after the Vong War. So we would get Flashbacks to see how devastating it was. You get the New Jedi Order with Luke as Grandmaster. Mara Jade and son Ben, who plays predominately in the story. You get the Solos together, pursued for arrest by their son Jason. You get Lumiya as one of the main villains, with a direct tie to the Sith and her master Darth Vader. Intrigue, betrayal, light saber battles, space battles. And final climax as a descendant of Vadar, becomes the new Dark Lord of the Sith, only to later be defeated by his twin sister. Story was already written and the dialog already set. All they had to do was cut it down to fit 7.5-8 hrs of movie time. would have been "Lord of the Rings" type money maker.
Han mentions during the Vong invasion that it would have been great to have the Death Star or Galaxy Gun, but it would be useless because of the fatal flaw in it's design.
Listening to this makes me think that was the original intent but by chance it ended up being used to keep the galaxy in line. And Palpitine is pretty smart he can adjust as goals are met and threats become stories.
Protecting what was his makws some sense...but the Deathstar makes something else. Namely, wounds in the force. Every inhabited planet destroyed would scream out in terror, creating a force nexus that a being like Palpatine could feed off of. Gaining power like Nihilus or Vitiate without consuming life and creating a never ending hunger within him.
Palpatine never had that ability to feed from the force, like those mentioned, including Darth Bane, who did. It was a lost Sith art. he had long considered everything his, but he was not narcissistic about it. If you haven't listen to the Darth Plageuis novelization, you must. It will give insight to Palpatine and fully explain why they made movie decisions in Ep 1.
@@jamesbrigham1299 Your confusing the technique of absorbing the force from others with how the dark side works. Sith are empaths (like jedi). When they cause you pain and fear they feel that pain and fear but where it weakens you it strengthens them as they know how to turn fear into anger. In Plagius they go to that primitive world and fight the inhabitants, killing only the best warrior to sew fear. They also have the hunting resort to feed passions like blood lust and greed. That's what I'm saying they're feeding on.
I wasn't sure how I felt about the idea of Palps building the Empire so strong to beat the Vong even back then. Palpatine works better when he's pure unadulterated evil, and the idea he was trying to protect the galaxy from the Vong (especially with what we know after the fact about the Vong) almost justifies it all in moral terms. The US developed the atomic bomb not only to end WW2 with overwhelming force, but to create a deterrent to future conflicts of that scale through fear of the use of such horrifying weapons. That deterrence idea justified their use, and the horrors we saw the Vong make an extremely good case for such a military dictatorship. Also, I'd be curious in what material did the Sith learn of the Far Outsiders before Outbound Flight? Because my understanding was the the first Sith to learn of them was Sidious in his conversation with Thrawn and Doriana during the Outbound Flight incident in Chiss space, where Thrawn justifies his militance and heavy handed tactics that so pissed off the rest of the Chiss ruling class with knowledge of the Vong (called Far Outsiders in that book).
i do kinda wonder, how would things turn out if palpatine told mon mothma, bail organa about the vong and the real reason why he was making the empire and this super weapon. do you think they would have deleyed the rebellion's formation
He had his own vision for the galaxy, and how order of chaos should be made. In the Sith are very brutal about their order. There is no love or compassion or anything else then rough force in brute strength. So it makes sense.
Well with all the Jedi who survived order 66 it seems to me that only George Lucas Jedi characters died in order 66 and only Disney Jedi are around now
The Deathstar, the World Devastator, the Eclipse Super Star Destroyer, The Galaxy Gun, all these would have made the Yuuzhan Vong invation all but impossible.
You know, this makes me wonder if the Dark Trooper Program from Dark Forces wasn't originally intended for use against the Rebels but rather to help in the fight against the Yuzan Vong given how powerful the troopers weapons are?
I'd add to that theory the story where Maul defeated one in a gladiatorial fight. He would tell about a strange strong foe that almost best him to Palpatine who would understand what Maul was referring to which would make him build death star as a first initiative.
I think the Death Star was created for the sake of more stability and fear, like the galaxy already was scared shitless of the Empire, but with the Death Star it'd be way tighter.
Palpatine didnt care about protecting the people in the galaxy. He only cared about maintaining the power he has gained and protecting that. It just happens to be that those people live in the galaxy he rules and he doesnt want to rule just the galaxy, he wants to rule the galaxy and the people in it.
He saw the future and the enemy inbound that's why they sent the deep space probe with Jedi and a group of linked together dreadnoughts in outbound flight project

What annoys me is that this would have made the perfect basis for the sequel trilogy. Imagine if they had defeated the empire at the end of "return of the Jedi", managed to create a new republic and fight offthe remenants of the empire only to find there was this new threat which were coming and they were ill equipped to fight.
I will explicitly argue that the world devastators and galaxy gun and eclipse could be weapons of contingency against the Yuuzhan Vong. But the death star is most definitely not a Vong contingency. It instructs domestic fear over rebellions. Whereas it would be up to the Eclipse I and Eclipse II that could fend off the Yuuzhan Vong. I mean not really cause penultimate answer is, imperial weapons could fight the Vong but they weren't designed to fight the Vong. Like a AK-47 is designed to fight humans not lions but people definitely used it affectively against mountain lions. But here's the last issue and this is important. I call it the writers didn't fucking know about the Yuuzhan vong by the time their superweapons are being written about. Palpatine as shown in dark empire wanted to rule all worlds and galaxies not just the main one so all extragalactic wars will be framed as Palpatine defending the galaxy and civilizing the barbarians. And when threats show up, while he did nothing, he'll say something self justifying along the lines of "i knew something like this may happen" The Eclipse is more maneuverable and adaptable with better weapons diversity compared to the death star. Yes the Galactic empire can win against the vong. A demilitarized multi faction galaxy took out the Vong, a united very militarized large empire will certainly win. But the idea that the empire is a vong contingency is cope. It's however in my opinion as a very pro empire supporter that the empire Is a extremely great side product to halt the Yuuzhan Vong.

Palpatine wanted to protect the Empiire. Yuuzhan Vong lurked in the shadow. This is new look on the Sith. I liked it. Sith is belief. They believe they are the strongest, most powerful, most intelligent. They believe they have right to rule over the galaxy by birth right. They just have completely different views and beliefs than anyone. Sith also protect the galaxy. But in very, extremely different ways. Like Sidious said he doesn't want to rule over the galaxy of the dead. May the Force be withy you too. Have a great day too

From what wr know of the jedi of the last days of the republic they'll likely try to make peace
Jedi met the vong first. "Vergie" was taken on zenoma sekot a planet thats conscious and came from the vong galaxie after striping them of the force.
And it was *death stars. Only 2 of wich completed before the emperors first death. And the maa prototype
Palpatine built the death star due to the looming threat that is the "Yuuzhan Vong."
Of course Emperor Palpatine built the Death Star for benevolent purposes , everything that he did was for the betterment of the galaxy.
But the murderous rebels wanted the galaxy to be destroyed , so they destroyed both Death Stars .
@JuggledLotus😂😂😂
@JuggledLotus from a certain point of view.
A Force user can't sense their presence, nor next attack/intent (no precognition)
suddenly, it become Warhammer
If he truly wanted to save the galaxy, he would have included the Jedi and inform them the Vong invasion.
If you are a true SW fan,you dont wanna watch Disneys crap,if we dont watch anything of this Disney shi*,the in the end will sell SW to someone else
Coming soon to Disney+. Sideous knows best.
I’ve said this for more than a decade. And my SW colleagues all agreed back then and still do now👍🏽
I think it’s not a matter of being a “hero” (at least outside of the public eye) but it’s more of “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”
I've been thinking exactly this for many, many years.
That Death Star at the end of ROTS was WELL UNDER CONSTRUCTION based on how much was already under way.
I really want them to do a movie/show about sharad hett!
Would be the perfect way to introduce the vong in his later years, but I think it would be a super big hit!
A lot of fans don’t know his story,
Fans would get to see more of the culture of the Tusken raiders (which the book of boba did a great job of)
Then they’d get to see him growing up as a Jedi under Jedi Master ki-adi-mundi, maybe introduce the comic where he removes his mask in front of Anakin showing him not all tuskens are monsters.. (and obviously didn’t report anakin after hearing him say he slaughtered a whole tribe of his people)
order 66 happens and he goes home to tattooine and becomes the head of his and his father’s tribe, all that time raiding and killing… which leads him to raiding moisture farms…
Just a little bit too close to “the REAL chosen one”
Which causes one of the most impactful changes in hett’s life..
After that he is imprisoned and tortured by the vong, and eventually becomes the beloved “Darth Krayt” the “ONE SITH”
just imagining the part of the movie/show where he comes out of hiding to help Luke face abeloth….. #chills!!!!
Then after he goes into stasis, he re-emerges to spark the “sith imperial war” leading to the destruction of the galactic federation of free alliances, Also attempting to destroy the new Jedi order.
He finds the existence of a “skywalker” (Cade)
So he hunts down cade, however he ends up getting stabbed, electrocuted, and sent flying off a cliff.
Chewie was a very strong wookie. Not many people challenge them in combat due to their deadly fury. If you can kill a wookie, then you're a warrior.
@@JayStarwars110 As I recall, Chewie did not die in combat in the EU.
Yep, had a moon dropped on him 😢
@dillanbrinlee you serious? A moon? Wow that's impressive
I have never heard any of this. This changes everything!
So the Vong are basically Species 8472 from Star Trek
What an awesome movie series that could make!
Han mentions during the Vong invasion that it would have been great to have the Death Star or Galaxy Gun, but it would be useless because of the fatal flaw in it's design.
If the Sith did want to protect the galaxy it was only because that’s where they keep all of their stuff
More content on the unknown regions please. So much potential for them after kotor 2, even the book is a let down and I'm not playing jabroni MMORPG
They need to make a video game of the vong wars.
Make a Starweird update video and compare Grysk and Yuuzhan Vong!
Palpy knew about the Yuuzang Von during the clone wars this was also one of his major Reasons to create the Galactc empire
Whoever wrote the Vong definitely was hitting up some Zerg battles
He had his own vision for the galaxy, and how order of chaos should be made. In the Sith are very brutal about their order. There is no love or compassion or anything else then rough force in brute strength. So it makes sense.
Well with all the Jedi who survived order 66 it seems to me that only George Lucas Jedi characters died in order 66 and only Disney Jedi are around now
That’s funny as a Lord of constellation alchemy, I would rule over the dead as an insurance to a galactitol pest like this.
Interesting theory! I think I support it
The Deathstar, the World Devastator, the Eclipse Super Star Destroyer, The Galaxy Gun, all these would have made the Yuuzhan Vong invation all but impossible.
The Death Star was built as a terror weapon, the name alone implies its purpose.
Not the galaxy, but HIS galaxy.
I always said this after reading the New Jedi Order series years ago.
You know, this makes me wonder if the Dark Trooper Program from Dark Forces wasn't originally intended for use against the Rebels but rather to help in the fight against the Yuzan Vong given how powerful the troopers weapons are?
It does seem like overkill, for taking on a gang of poorly equipped scruffy-looking nerfherders.
He built the death star to protect the galaxy from Kathleen Kennedy and Rey
Yes 😂😂
Lucas Books: Outbound Flight and Rogue Planet, the Death Star history is explained within.
So you're telling me the sith have a noble cause ?
No, they just want to protect what is theirs.
The amount of Rebels seething in here is outstanding. I could make a business from harvesting them.
2:50 relying on stormtroopers to fight the rebels ahahah
Palpatine didnt care about protecting the people in the galaxy. He only cared about maintaining the power he has gained and protecting that. It just happens to be that those people live in the galaxy he rules and he doesnt want to rule just the galaxy, he wants to rule the galaxy and the people in it.
Darth Malgus, Darth Vectivus, they pop up in my head ❤❤🇺🇲🇹🇹😎
If he wanted to protect the Galaxy, then why did he implement operation cinder?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that is canon
@@halksinzambia9080 Vong invasion isn't canon either..
He saw the future and the enemy inbound that's why they sent the deep space probe with Jedi and a group of linked together dreadnoughts in outbound flight project
Mandalorians: “Raise your hand if you managed to defend your home world from the Vong! ……what? No one? Only us? Wooooow. What…what happened? Gee how odd. Unfortunate. Anyways…”
A shame that Disney won't bring about the Vong. They would be just the right villains for a live-action TV series. And not a movie.
No they wouldn't. They were never a good idea and they still aren't.

What annoys me is that this would have made the perfect basis for the sequel trilogy. Imagine if they had defeated the empire at the end of "return of the Jedi", managed to create a new republic and fight offthe remenants of the empire only to find there was this new threat which were coming and they were ill equipped to fight.
Only if the Separatist knew of the threat also
I will explicitly argue that the world devastators and galaxy gun and eclipse could be weapons of contingency against the Yuuzhan Vong.
And when threats show up, while he did nothing, he'll say something self justifying along the lines of "i knew something like this may happen"
The Eclipse is more maneuverable and adaptable with better weapons diversity compared to the death star.
In my story my Oc Benobi P Skywalker is the grandson of palpatine and this concept will be explored if Disney wants to blow the minds of fans and bring back balance to the Star Wars fandom I have an amazing trilogy I’m working on at a fan level with creative talents of my father in the force George Lucas I hope to get support when I start release my fan story
The emperor has no prejudice against aliens. He is using the only human group to maintain his power hold.
The new ray movie better bring in an enemy from the outer regions that’s completely different to the Empire but an actual threat to be concerned about.
To protect his empire. Yes.
Palps doesn’t want to rule a galaxy of the dead, and that means protecting it from outside forces.
They shoukd make a series of palpatine
I am a trekkie that likes star wars as well. to me the vong are to the star wars galaxy as the borg are to the star trek galaxy. an overwhelming threat.
