This masterpiece is the sonic equivalent of a full body massage, a spliff of organic kush, a glass of your fave wine .....there is serious healing power in this track. The master was called back to his home planet, Allan's decompression and anti stress skills were suddenly needed in the other side of the galaxy..........and the sound waves travel onward and upward endlessly.Thank You Allan.....
The way he never resolves. He doesn't need to tell us anything. He's leading us, making us think and feel the music. His emotions are crystal clear, yet he never reveals them. Allan Holdsworth was a musical savant.
When this album came out, critics gave this a low rating. This is why I NEVER EVER listen to movie or music critics. I can think for myself, thank you very much! I love this tune, and the album as a whole! All musical taste is nothing more than personal opinion, period! PERIOD!, so anyone who argues with someone else about music, has too much time on their hands, and is really stupid, Lol. Everyone likes what they like, and that's cool with me.
That's the one thing that I wished for, is that Holdsworth would have gotten an Orchestra or Symphony and play his guitar on his compositions. Mclaughlin Zawinul Corea all did it. It would have been nice to hear.
My friend/teacher put me on to Chad Wackerman, through Holdsworth! Also gave me a greater love for Vinnie. I'm so glad. I purchased four of Allan's albums. I love listening to them.
Totally from the mind, heart and soul............. he has not died. He went to another level.......... if that's possible?? He's making the angels and their harps feel jealous and envious! God took him in and said........ "Allan, sorry I took you so soon......... I need guitar lessons........ you're kicking my ass"!!
This genuis is SO far ahead of any time - its not even funny ! What A M A Z I N G music , virtuosity and lyrical expression beyond....., and not a day goes past , without me contemplating this beautiful music,-
MAN WHAT a GENIUS ..This Music gives me more and more ..Allan Holdsworth ALLAN HOLDSWORTH !!! Maybe REALLY the BEST Guitarist of ALL times !!! I was growing up with Beatles , Led Zep , Hendrix ,Clapton , Eddie Van Halen , Metallica ,and all this Great Rock Stuff , still love it and like to play it on Guitar .. But i started to Like This Holdsworth Stuff ..This is UNBELIEVABLE Beautiful and sophiscated Music ...He was so DAMM GREAT !!!!
Spectacular! This great guitarist, many appreciate its incredible technical ability, but I rather think it is brilliant and you express best when played with delicacy as in this song. The choice of sounds and the dynamics seem conceived in another time. Geniooo!!!
was able to see him only once. at the long forgotten musicians exchange in fort lauderdale. an insane show. wackerman was on fire. and after the show as he headed downstairs he gave me a friendly hello. great person we lost much too soon
If you're not listening to Holdsworth through a good set of audio headphones, or a very fine home audio or computer sound system, you're not hearing the full poly-tones in his chord structures. There is so much more to his music than most of us can capture on a first run past the music unless you're listening intently. His pieces must be studied and are most deserving of such attention, and merit many multiple listenings to be fully appreciated. It is what it is. It ain't jiffy pop.
over the years I always heard people talk about "sound systems" and such... I have to say, for mobility and convenience reasons, since I ever discovered isolated earbuds like the Koss Plug model (recently extinc unfortunately, but brands derived from that initial model...) or the more recent most common to find in stores the JBL earbuds (don't be fooled by fragile plastic looks, these small things are impressive!!!!) I have to say I'm very impressed with these tiny earbuds... specially when you combine with some kind of equalization to cut some of the Mids... details in old songs I could never hear I'm suddenly hearing on them... sparkly crystalline sound, with bass punch, the best of both worlds really... can enjoy music at 3 AM without waking up neighbors and such
if I knew the Koss Plug from 15 years ago would be discontinued, I would purchase a small stock of it to keep it... the lasst one I had lasted 3 years of daily constant use... the newer ones are similarly impressive in terms of sound but usually what happens is that one of the sides of the earbuds will become defective after a year or so, you start noticing less bass from one of the sides, a sign the small speaker membrane ruptured off
@@FeelingShred The tech for earbuds is really coming along, and studio headset tech has had many decades of renovation and refinement. State of the art at this time. Great sets can be had for 50 bucks these days that would have cost thousands back when.
I've listened to a lot of Holdsworth since 2015 or something and i've probably heard around 70 to 80% of everything he has ever played in.. I've gotten some other friends into Holdsworth and just passed the name around. There are so many positive comments here so i'm just letting it out that i find it interesting that almost all of my friends were a bit dissatisfied or dismayed with the change happening at around 3:33. Even if they would have loved it until that. :D
I was just about to chastise you when I checked and you're right. All this time I thought I was listening to Wackerman. It's good you caught me out. Gary is actually roaming you tube with the hoi polloi.
I would love to hear something like Tullio orchestrated I think violin would suit the solo three sheets to the wind and Tokyo dream bring to mind a violin like quality I know Allan did play violin (Andrew bob Yates)
guess i'm one of the lucky ones, my wife loves holdsworth, tony williams, tribal tech etc. still can't get her to dig zorn's painkiller stuff tho... but she likes naked city, especially leng tch'e. ???
then Krishna said :' I am talent in man, Arjuna' [Bhagavad Gita]great nobility in Allan's sound: aimed at the heart and command chakras - he always focused between his eyebrows
Check out the MUSIC not the comments!!! The track 'Oakum' in my videos is a good start. Im not into drugs myself but dosent stop me liking music made by people who are.
+giovanni bevilacqua The arpeggiated one is a baritone guitar of some type. The lead guitar is a Steinberger I believe-- anyhow it sounds a lot like the guitar used on Secrets which was indeed a 'Steinie'.
jazz fusion is an ugly umbrella term. I prefer to call Holdsworth what it is: Holdsworth. Normally I despise the shred culture too because of its preoccupation with speed disregard for personal expression. Sod all that stuff. Holdsworth is in his own part of the ether.
Holdsworth will never die. His spirit and his genius will live forever through his music.
Name checks out.
"The Brewery", where Allan recorded so many great solos in the 90s, and mixed so many great albums, deserves to become a historical monument ...
I second this petition, although it sounds quite impossible to make it true.

Haha! Yes he is definitely other-worldly!

"Musical savant." I've always said that, Marie.
Beautifully expressed. Succinct comment. Thank you for your witness. You've encapsulated his Gift in these words.
The world lost a remarkably kind and humble human being, an innovator, and towering icon of the guitar.

The most intelligent comment on different music tastes I've ever heard!! Thanks MusicLoot!!
Hey, whatever "music critic" gave this masterpiece a low rating needs to hold on dearly to his or her day job. That is all.
But Terminator Dark Fate is a good film
Well Said !
When I hear Allan Holdsworth, I think of classical orchestral music.
Galactic orchestral music.
That's the one thing that I wished for, is that Holdsworth would have gotten an Orchestra or Symphony and play his guitar on his compositions. Mclaughlin Zawinul Corea all did it. It would have been nice to hear.

One of the best song and guitar playing of human existence !!!!! Epic!!!!😍
Aside from the solo's that none of us could ever conceive, Allan Holdsworth's compositions are just beyond anytihng I could ever dream of.
You Got That Right !
A hundred years ahead of his time on the guitar, compositionally. We'll be trying to figure him out for many years to come.
one of the best holdsworth tunes ever. beautiful, real and human.
The support from the bass and drums is always integrated so elegantly

One of the most beautiful pieces of music in creation, right next to a host of other Holdsworth tracks.
I love how he sings through his guitar!
Beautiful!

Pure genius. The guy was from the future.
Stunning!
Best song of the album IMHO, that is -by the way- entire highly good as a master piece.

Is it me or is the material on Wardenclyffe Tower more accessible than any of his previous recordings?
Brand X are good. I'll be interested to see responses to your question.
What this track needed was some Donati.
Kidding!
Of course it's a joke

which guitar allan plays? steinberg?
