The emotions this album conveys is incredible. I always come back to it. If you're having a tough time dealing with the loss of a loved one, please know, it was never goodbye. Love never dies. Honor them by living your best life and remembering what they and the experience as a whole taught you. Much love to everyone.
I just drove for a distance of 300miles on the highway - having this album on repeat. When I arrived, I felt like I traveled through space & time. Best purchase I made this year... probably the best album I bought in years. Easily one of the best records I listened to in my whole life. It's as close to perfection as it gets. Favorite tracks: Nattväsen, ~42°, Loss Aversion /// CBL... thank you for this piece of art, it gives me peace of mind.
And one small note about traveling in space and time: we always do, even when you just lay down on the ground, you still traveling thru space on huge piece of matter that we call Earth. Universe is moving and we are part of it. Being is movement.
I just say Solar Fields and Carbon Based Lifeforms when I’m trying to define this type of music. If they care enough to check it out, they’ll find the other great artists.

I understand exactly what you're trying to say. It's weird, because other ambient producers just don't sound quiiiiite right. But CBL know how to build a complete album that just works. There are other Ultimae artists that can make amazing tracks, but overall, making a complete piece work, CBL seem to be the only ones.
I have the same feeling about their music. It has to be something about frequency. Some music just sounds good and we like it but some triggers the very core of our consciousness. I guess there is music for the mind and music for the soul. And CBL music is for both :')
It's not only frequency - it's rhythmic delays and their hallmark liquid SFX, as well as pads/drones washed by the long reverberation. Also they use subtle side-chaining on their bass lines quite a lot that creates rhythmic pump feeling.
Same. I think it's because CBL isn't afraid to bring the warm feelings of the new age genre into their music. So it's kind of dark and atmospheric, yet warm, glowy, smooth. It's what sets them apart from anyone else and why I've loved them for so many years.
It's very rare that from the very first note of an album, you know it will stay with you for a long long time. Haven't felt like this in a while. Fantastic.
I accidentally stumbled across CBL about a month ago. The cover art for this album is hypnotic and drew me in. I know it came out in 2017... but it's my 2021 favorite. They should have used these tracks in the movie Bladerunner 2049. This album would have been the perfect accompaniment.

Once in a while, when I hear something beautiful, I get teary eyed from excitement, inspiration and many other things I have no words for. This invoked those feelings within me this evening. Simply amazing.
Most music fades on you. It gets repetitive, you grow out of it, you mabye still appreciate it, but those feelings it evoked when you discovered it are gone. CBL is not one of them. I still regularly listen to it years later. Whatever ultimatly brought this music into the world. Im thankful for it.
yes sitting here, quietly listening to this high on mushroom:>> what a lovely feel what alovely dream, around and around on the keyboard my finger's go, to feel out the time and space as it pass thru them into another part of me, as i slowly slip from here to there and back and again. can't seem to close my eyes to feel this one thru, but here i am, now and for ever every part of me whole and apart, floating and slipping into this wide open space of dark and light, only reflection i say, feel them be apart of you. there is no past and no present this is now, only now. there is no future as we see it, cuz we are here in the moment there everything is this part of now, we can't put ourselves to somewhere where we havent been yet, but feel it, breathe it, be apart of it now, and there is not end to the now we are in. all for it's all, in darkness and in it's light for it's reflection and it's non shape and form of life.
“As I wander though this chaotic life, Not lost, forever intrigued by the profound things we can not understand.. I’ve stumbled upon an enlightenment so subtle.”Thank you for these amazing vibrations! Carbon based life forms.. excellence.

I'm very impressed with this album, many thanks for sharing, nice wee natural high listening to this while working away in office.
Got in a conversation about electronic music with a random guy at a festival yesterday. Started exchanging favorite artists, CBL came up, he told me about this album and I didnt even know they had a new album (well, new to me) even though I've listened to them for years and saw them live twice. Immediately I decided to check this out when I arrive home. Fucking love this ! Thanks CBL for your music and random guy at Kosmos festival !!
Greetings from Kenya. Thank you for this masterpiece. I keep getting lost in my imagination every time I listen to it. It evokes wonder within me. I send you all the love from this corner, Peace and Love.
I've waited so long for this. Right now I'm only a minute in and already love where it's taking me. Thank you. For everyone else who loves this too - listen, then please buy, so artists like this can keep making music.
You know how good ambient music is when you are so lost in your process/monologue, you don't even notice that you notice it, and that it is quietly helping you stay in your focused flowstate and get stuff done. This is why CBL. much like Stellardrone, and H.U.V.A Network are so awesome. :)
I love Nattväsen. There's a forest on my way home from work where I sometimes stop for a walk. One time it was approaching dusk and I listened to that track while walking amongst the trees in the twilight; amazing experience. :) :) :)
I have been hand-picked by the celestial gods, as a usable specimen of the human, to go forward in time and space as a representative and show other galaxies what inhabits Planet Earth. How humbling this is, and as my theme I have chosen CBLF, to calm and enlighten those who may gaze upon me wondering my intentions. I thank CBLF for this opportunity , and hope they can continue to present celestial enlightenment to all.
After the explosion of electronic ambient dub and ambient hypnotic bands of the 90s, the age had passed and muzik peaked in that Genre. Then came Carbon Based Lifeforms.
@Megan Diaz ... I've been feeling the same way ... not only about this album, but similar ambient and post rock music ... I guess we're all evolving into another level of sound and light ...
You should check out the backstory for that tune. Nattväsen is (maybe?) about some kids disappearing in to the forest in Sweden some years ago. Maybe seven kids? don`t remember. But they disappeared over a few weeks. All tracks and traces pointet to that they just got up in the middle of the night, and walked out in to the forest. never to be seen again. In that region of Sweden there are ancient stories about "night creatures" (Nattväsen) who lives there. It was like an X-file episode, but in real life. Very weird stuff...
Hello. I’m and old prog, hard rock and trad classic techno bands fan (Kraftwerk , Tangerine Dream etc), but I really like these guys. Great sounds on this and world sleepers of too. Thank you for the experience.

another masterpiece from cbl ... its not an album its an ear therapy
❤️
Soul therapy
Brain adjustment...
CBL is my main dream inducing music. Always put them on before sleeping, opens the door to land of Morpheus.
I have absolutely loved Carbon Based Lifeforms for a number of years now and this incredible piece of art here is no exception. To me, CBL just cannot possibly disappoint. Thank you for another great release!
This is by far the best randomly recommended album UA-cam has recommended me. Amazing music
ABSOLUTE PROPS for having this up on UA-cam!!
Perfect sound for winter evenings
Once in a while, when I hear something beautiful, I get teary eyed from excitement, inspiration and many other things I have no words for. This invoked those feelings within me this evening. Simply amazing.
When the beat kicks in on Equilibrium...I gotta groove my whole body to it!!!
Most music fades on you. It gets repetitive, you grow out of it, you mabye still appreciate it, but those feelings it evoked when you discovered it are gone. CBL is not one of them. I still regularly listen to it years later. Whatever ultimatly brought this music into the world. Im thankful for it.
11:55 song had me in tears. Brought back some good memories and reminded me of some things I try and forget.
Integration > Forget
Post-rock and Psybient are the only 2 genres that have had such an impact on my life that I am on this great creative journey
"Clouds" is terrific. Listening to this song is like entering a transcendental portal to a distant time & place. Good stuff.
I think almost all their songs are like that. Its the nature of ambient.
It is not condemning me for being self-indulgent but it seems to encourage me to be a better version of who I am.
"Loss Aversion" (1:02:35) is particularly nice. It's the kind of music that for me evokes the idea of a hopeful and livable future.
My personal favourite. Tied with "Derelicts".
yes sitting here, quietly listening to this high on mushroom:>> what a lovely feel what alovely dream, around and around on the keyboard my finger's go, to feel out the time and space as it pass thru them into another part of me, as i slowly slip from here to there and back and again. can't seem to close my eyes to feel this one thru, but here i am, now and for ever every part of me whole and apart, floating and slipping into this wide open space of dark and light, only reflection i say, feel them be apart of you.
there is no past and no present this is now, only now. there is no future as we see it, cuz we are here in the moment there everything is this part of now, we can't put ourselves to somewhere where we havent been yet, but feel it, breathe it, be apart of it now, and there is not end to the now we are in. all for it's all, in darkness and in it's light for it's reflection and it's non shape and form of life.
“As I wander though this chaotic life, Not lost, forever intrigued by the profound things we can not understand.. I’ve stumbled upon an enlightenment so subtle.”Thank you for these amazing vibrations! Carbon based life forms.. excellence.
Refuge was always my favourite CBL go to album for the first two tracks over the 12mins but I've found myself scrolling to 43:00 to 49:00 on Derelicts, love this section.
I'm very impressed with this album, many thanks for sharing, nice wee natural high listening to this while working away in office.
Carbon based lifeforms never disappoints... NEVER
Nattvasen gives me 'Easily Embarrased' vibes. Great!
Thank you! This made me cry and remember my Dad and I saw him Smiling from above!! Blessings!!
Thanks CBL for your music and random guy at Kosmos festival !!
the intro... is just insanely good, like here you go into the neighborhood of the universe...
Like a melody from the heavens that transports me to a far and forgoten place of my memories, a place full of bright and nostalgia, heal my wounds
absolutely brilliant! can't wait to get the vinyl version! "Accede" and "780 days" are already my favourite!
Greetings from Kenya. Thank you for this masterpiece. I keep getting lost in my imagination every time I listen to it. It evokes wonder within me. I send you all the love from this corner, Peace and Love.
Gravity, wave, restore equilibrium; movement, back- and forward. Fav damn part of this album.
I've waited so long for this. Right now I'm only a minute in and already love where it's taking me. Thank you. For everyone else who loves this too - listen, then please buy, so artists like this can keep making music.
this is probably the best album ive hear from these guys, freakin awesome
CBL you were missed! thanks for this new revelation. art at it's highest form. what a masterpiece
You know how good ambient music is when you are so lost in your process/monologue, you don't even notice that you notice it, and that it is quietly helping you stay in your focused flowstate and get stuff done. This is why CBL. much like Stellardrone, and H.U.V.A Network are so awesome. :)
Thanks!
I just want to comment that Accede is the perfect start for this album. What a track
Top job CBL from a long time listener. Nattvasen - what can I say - incredible, incredible , incredible. Thanks for the eargasm.
I love Nattväsen. There's a forest on my way home from work where I sometimes stop for a walk. One time it was approaching dusk and I listened to that track while walking amongst the trees in the twilight; amazing experience. :) :) :)
Indescribably magnificent masterpiece!
Already my favorite album from CBL
It has a blues//swing beat that hooks you immediately, and I feel like I'm in a movie while driving to this!!!!!! ROCK ON!!!!!
Divine, spiritual and dreamy what great music especially Derelicts and clouds.
today i was very angry, but after this album feel peace and calm, thanks CBL
These guys are masters of their craft! Each one of their songs takes me on a cosmic journey through the universe. Loss Aversion is so epic!
/straps in
/modest blaze
/listens
/traverses the universe on waves of love in my mind for the duration of the album
Just discovered this last week. A definite purchase for me.
I thank CBLF for this opportunity , and hope they can continue to present celestial enlightenment to
all.
After the explosion of electronic ambient dub and ambient hypnotic bands of the 90s, the age had passed and muzik peaked in that Genre. Then came Carbon Based Lifeforms.
That was scary! I thought the UA-cam channel was taken down for some bullshit reason. Glad that it's back
Definitely one of my all-time favourite albums!
Their cover pictures are really my gig! To find beauty in seemingly dull or even unsettling landscapes.
What's mindblowing is the commercials coming to rip the fabric of space and time when I try to relax to these masterpieces..
I can't believe I'm discovering this marvelous album just now! The feeling that expresses is so complex and beautiful.
@Megan Diaz ... I've been feeling the same way ... not only about this album, but similar ambient and post rock music ... I guess we're all evolving into another level of sound and light ...
Just when you think you've reached an explosive level... It explodes even greater.. oooo
Love these two, they have such an odd and simplistic way of presenting their art...
This just made my day, and I've only heard the first minute! Can't wait to have a proper listen.
Beautiful music. Completely non-distracting, allowing concentration. Background music is just what you need!!! Thanks :)
This Nattväsen Part got me tearing up. No cap. This is just amazing!
Been waiting for this.....repeat 24/7
Hello. I’m and old prog, hard rock and trad classic techno bands fan (Kraftwerk , Tangerine Dream etc), but I really like these guys. Great sounds on this and world sleepers of too. Thank you for the experience.
Love that you have no ads. No interruption during my zen phase.
Accede is something special. Love this track..
