    This man taught me to see music with my ears. I became a better person and a far more intuitive musician listening to his genius. He has the most fulfilling chord changes in music. Period.

    This tune is so amazing, the pace of this song is just mind blowing. The solo Allan plays here is mesmerizing. I really can feel the intention that Allan had here. I have been listening to his music from 2007 and is has made me a better musician , better person overall this man just my main inspiration. Thank you Allan you changed my life for the better!

      If you like Jazz fusion. I admire his talent, but his genre of music, to me, is too dry, soul less and too much aimless widdling while the drummer goes berserk. Not everything, I have a copy of "Sand" and there are a few tracks I really like. But Satriani is THE boy.

    Thank you for the post. I have been listening to Allan H's music for more than thirty years. I never tire of hearing it. His music is work for the ages. I think he will become more appreciated over time. Can you imagine how beautiful and moving this piece would be if arranged for a symphony orchestra?

    Its with great sadness that I have heard that guitar pioneer genius Allan Holdsworth has passed away at the age of 70. It is well known that Allan Holdsworth was Eddie Van Halen's and Alex Lifeson's (Rush) biggest influence. He was a big influence on me too. His spirit/life force spoke the musical language of the Creator.
    Allan lived a very modest life and died poor. He never gave up on his musical vision. And he changed the way we look at guitar playing as his approach made it sound like a saxophone. But it was his guitar synthesizer work that was mind blowing. Chord voicings of the heavens and far galaxies.
    This piece is one of my favorites. One of the most hauntingly beautiful songs I have ever heard. Good bye Allan. You will be greatly missed.

    @bestbass42 that's awesome man! i have to see him again, i saw him live in 2008 and had been listening to him a lot every day and it still blew me away! its like he never stops exploring and improving and he's already so good. my uncle was there with me and he described his chord melody playing as sounding like an aurora borealis. i would describe it as being transported to another world or flying through beautiful nebulae. what beauty and style!

    I just got the re-issued copy of this great album, I'm very disappointed with the lack of care the producers of this re-issue. First they made a mistake numbering the tracks, they jump track #8 that obviously do not exist. The worst lack of care is in the ending of the unmerry go round, part 4, they fade it away to early and after that the sound level increase and decreases until fade away completely... I do not find this acceptable, is a lack of respect to one of the most respectable musicians ever.

  • @AdamDallas
    @AdamDallas 13 років тому

    @gebass6 That sounds like a great idea and it's probably do-able! Bear in mind than Allan is probably using the synthaxe for those solos, so they are being fretted in a guitar like fashion! Good luck if you ever do try it again ;)

    Anybody but me have also noticed hearing this track in depth ¡how important is a "driving" rhythm-bass ground! for a lead musician like Holds'? I mean, when you listen carefully there are certain details that go unnoticed to the common listener and IMHO are pure gold, I can differenciate an advanced musician to a 1-of-a-kind master musician. Certainly, that couldn't be possible without these extraterrestrial cats (Ch. Wackerman; J. Johnson). There's a lot to discover in a Holds' studio album.

    • @francotirador5434
      @francotirador5434 5 років тому

      Exactly, this kind of tunes doesn't have an specific rhythmic pattern so it's more important to have a solid and intuitive bass player and drummer

  • @gkgkg1

    The only (minor) flaw with this otherwise superb track is that Gary Husband's reedy solo sound (Korg M1 synth starting at 2:50) sounds too similar to AH's reedy guitar solo sound, and is in the rather muddy middle register. He uses the same synth patch on his solo album "Diary of a Plastic Box".
