The real reason why everybody fears the new F15. Is because the old f-15 has over 105 kills with zero losses. And this one has electronics that exceed the F-22.

The raptor is the best jet in many ways and is more deadly than the F 35 but the US already has the next 6th generation stealth fighters designed and probably already BIULT In it's test stages.

I was 7 when I played Super Strike Eagle on SNES. It gave me a certain sense of respect for the airframe. I played F-117 sims, Falcon 4.0 (now DCS), every type of flight sim you could imagine, but the F-15 has a flawless victory. I have bad respect for that plane.

In some of the photos I see four BRU-61 bomb racks being used to carry two AMRAAMs each for a total of 8 missiles, the normal wing racks with LAU-115/127 Launchers with two missiles (four more missiles), another set of LAU-115/127 Launchers mounted below those (four more missiles) and an additional set of pylons mounted closer to the wingtips with two more LAU-115/127 launchers (four more missiles) for a total of 20 AIM 120 AMRAAMs. The issue I have with that set up is that from appearances, the BRU-61 Bomb rack can't mount the AIM-120 with the full set of fins mounted. One set of fins would need to be removed on the inner side, under the rack as they would prevent the missile from being mounted to the rack. You can't really tell as the only photos I've seen show the rack from the side. Unless they modify the BRU-61 racks to provide more stand off to the mounting, AIM-120s appear as if they would not fit. In other photos, it is shown mounting single missiles to the hardpoints that would mount the BRU-61s below the conformal fuel tanks. That set up would make much more sense but would drop the total number of AIM-120s to sixteen, not twenty. You'd probably want to mount a couple of AIM-9X Sidewinders for short range engagements, further dropping the usable load of AIM-120s to fourteen... Still nothing to sneeze at.
Still feels like the old generation engineers are better to invent and build these F14, F15, F16, F22. Hope the F15ex lives up to its name.

As a degreed engineering and a former fighter pilot there are so many little tweaks they could do to reduce the RCS more I wonder why they have not.
They wanted it in service ASAP I think.
Logistics... they don't want to break the system.
With 23 hard points for ordnance, all those hanging weapons would defeat the limited RCS reduction they could achieve. They did try to make the F-15 more stealthy (F-15SE Silent Eagle), but for reasons I don't recall decided against it. However making the 2 vertical stabilizer surfaces angled (like the F-22) instead of perpendicular could have greatly reduced the RCS. Don't know why they didn't do that...
i imagine cost too, no sense in making an older gen 4 fighter - "stealth". Its better to have the F-35 serve as an upfront tact plane and have F-15s as strike fighters behind it using the F-35s radar to take out targets.

Come to think of it, the F-15EX is a similar kind of fighter as the Su-57 in a similar way to the Foxbat and original F-15. That would be a cool fight. Well, for me, the pilots would be really wishing they weren't there at all.

The real game-changer is the Digital Fly by Wire. Watching the QA do super maneuverability without vectored thrust was amazing. Perhaps vectored thrust isn't needed anymore.
Fly-by-wire has been around for quite a while. Why is it any different now?

This makes a huge amount of sense - proven airframe and engines. Simply upgrade a few things and you have a crazy capable jet, with a much lower per hour cost than f-22 or f-35.

It's not about close dog fighting anymore, but missile platform. You either go non-stealth over longer distance, or closer with stealth.

Low visibility takes on a new advantage when you're far enough away that distance combines with it to make you all but invisible. Or close enough that you can't be reliably shot down, especially since you still have countermeasures and tactics for breaking locks in case it somehow still happens.

It's truly a missile truck, but nobody talks about our 6 missile buses. 6 B-52's with rotating internal and multiple hard points along the frame and able to carry up to 120 ALRAAM's internally and another 80 on wing hard points. Recent estimations by knowledgeable sources estimate the ALRAAM's have a range of 260 km. The true range is classified. Able to lock on, target, and fire two missiles at up to 100 planes at once. Then do a 180 and clear the airspace well outside of any other missiles range. The things are awesome specialty mission weapons and not much talked about.

Years ago it was pondered that a stealth plane could be used as a penetrator to give radar targeting fix on targets fired on from an alternative "missile truck" from very long range. This seems like a very likely reality now. The F15 already has a VERY advanced radar and tracking system. Extending that capability with stealth eyes 50 to 75 miles ahead would severely make air superiority a lopsided endeavor.
The f35 is the missle truck yet I think the f15 fills a slightly differently superiority role.

@@carbonEYE007 F-35 isn't a missile truck. The F-15E and EX can carry way more missiles than the F-35. Even the F/A-18E/F Super Hornets can. One of the trade off with stealth is weapons carrying capacity.

Navy went through a bunch of dumb shenanigans to get the F/A-18 classification for their Hornets. "F/A"-18 isn't even the proper designation if we're going by the way the US names their aircraft.
Needs thrust vector engines and more powerful engines
It's engines produce approximately 30,000 lbs of thrust apiece and thrust vectoring is for the most part useless in air to air combat, although it does look impressive at air shows.

Carry load near theoretical limit will compromise its aero dynamic performance, but 5gen has offset that need, therefore none stealth plane can focus on delivery.

With the new scope set up the government is issuing to the troops. They can show the pilot in the aircraft what they are looking at through there scope. And vice versa.

It is not just the aircraft itself it is the entire suite of weapns and systems it carries it;s operability with other air fgorces, it's links and operations and direction by US systems including AEWACS etc. In a conflict as pdoven in Iraq they allies will take out the opposition radar and air defence sytems in a day take out all assets that are directed aginst it and control teh skies in a day.

The F-15 EX is a fast, brainy "bomb truck" that can carry big load outs. It can be made "electronically equal" to an F-35 and although NOT stealthy it is faster, has longer range and can carry a shitload more weapons. And it may have first strike missions rather than being always a "follow-on' fighter behind the stealth fighters..
F15 is a conclusive design, it is the optimal for know physics.
