That was more of a command folly. The Nighthawk flew the same path every mission. Bombed the same targets too. Made it easier for the Serbians to figure out when the plane would come by and when it would have it's doors open and stealth compromised. What good is low observability if your enemy already knows where you are.

@@rbrtck My understanding is that they use Weapons pods for the F22, so they are "Stealthy" pods with stealth coatings and special shapes... but even still it reduces the stealth a LOT.
I do like how optimistic DCS is. The thought that a crew could perform a bail out out of large aircraft that is spinning out of control while in a nose dive gives me a warm fuzzy. 😂

@@CalamariCorps Check it up ..the F-35 is cheaper than the F-15EX. The F-35 is superior on levels that count in modern warfare - Stealth, Network, DAS situational awareness. Current wargames give the F-35 a win ratio of 7 to 1 over current F-16C, F-15C & E. The RAAF, RAF and other nations confirming the same result's over super hornets, Eurofighters etc..
Now obviously this isn’t real life. But even in concept, to see how stealth affects the outcome is incredible. He has arguably a better radar, had better resources, twice as many missiles and I think even more than just twice, and yet in those final critical moments where it was essentially a fair joust, his missiles lost lock, and yours didn’t. There’s something to be said about modern tech and sheer firepower. But in the end we figured it out over 20 years ago. Stealth is clearly what gives you the edge in the air.
I was wondering how the F-15 wasn't killed by the first few missiles the Raptor sent its' way? I understand the missile seeker has trouble seeing the F-22...but the F-15 should be an easy kill...shouldn't it?
@@recoilrob324 well he’s also defending. The farther away you are the harder it is for the missile to maintain lock and hit the target. There are certain ranges where it should be a sure fire kill. Unless you can break the missiles lock and it loses you for even a split second, which can cause it to miss. But at that range and altitude there was nothing he could really do. Maybe if he was lower he could force the missile to hit the ground as it tried to lead him, but he was too high, and at that range there’s no time to defend properly. In fact if GS wasn’t in a raptor it’s likely he would have been hit in that last engagement too. It would have been a trade.
Imagine 2 EXs one firing while the other defends. No opportunity to turn hot and having to constantly defend. I think this is how the USAF will employ these missile trucks. Would be interesting to see multiple eastern low observables with hypersonics vs multiple F-15 EXs.

the f15ex is such a monster. 22 missiles is a serious problem for anything it targets, and as we could see, it has the ability to lock pretty much anything from 40 miles out. That's a brutal missile truck, with insane maneuverability, and these are just the capabilities we know about. A worthy companion to the Kid.

I wonder if it's true that a couple of 15's or 18's with the Irts21 at long range can spot, track , and give a targeting solution against stealth based on riangulation. 28 amrrams combined against 6 could be a real challenge.
I'm new to this channel so I have a question. at 5:00 you say you're dropping chaff, and I thought this meant dropping countermeasures, but it is against a radar guided missile. Can anyone explain this to me?
Radar-guided missiles, use radar to locate their targets. While flares are useless against this technology, radar is vulnerable to a type of active decoy known as chaff, which consists of tiny strips of aluminum or zinc that the aircraft releases in large bunches. These metallic clouds appear as separate targets to the missile’s radar and ideally confuse the missile, thus permitting the aircraft to escape.

I dont think it is modelled properly. Sadly the same thing about the ships. If you launch anti-ship missiles, ships should also jam + launching decoys.
Its not the same platform it was 50 years ago. The 15EX much better than the 15A, or C, or E. It also had two AWACs and its own new awesome APG 82 radar to triangulate the Raptors general location.

Since the F-15EX can maintain lock with its onboard radar but the AIM-120 cant, what would happen if the F-15EX were to use FOX-1’s along with AIM-120?
The first missile- did you delay firing until the F-15 locked you up knowing that he couldn't fire before then, so that your missile had the advantage of getting closer, and you counted on having an easier time evading his missile because your radar signature is so small?

For the F-15EX, I would just start lobbing missiles just before getting into range. Three for each volley.

I love the Raptor but the Eagle is the OG. Can't wait for some F-15 against an entire airforce content. The arsenal it carries is ridiculous.

Strategically it would have been a huge win even if lost to the F-15. AWACS are super-high value assets.

To be fair physics don’t change, not in 50 years, not in a 1000 either. CFD tech was already in use in the times of the F15’s design.

F-22 is being retired because it is obsolete. Stealth alone is not enough anymore.
