Thanks for all your comments! I had a lot of fun making my star but was completely exhausted afterwards. And now, I got my very first order for a new star, so I guess I’ll be very busy for the next few days 😜 Wishing you all a happy first of Advent and a great week ahead! See you on Tuesday! Carlos
Since my husband isn't isn't watching, I have to say that Carlos, you were masterful at a creation my husband could only dream of making! Plus, you both made me laugh so hard! Thank you. Can hardly wait until Dec 1st for more Holiday joy!
Maybe I’ll make a mini version of your STAR 🌟
I was laughing until tears were running down my face. Thank you for the fun.🤣🤣🤣
Honestly, you two are hilarious! Loved it xox
@@daniellereid01 Thanks so much for your honesty and just having a go. Watching this after a bad day at work has put me in a better mood for sleep. Great star and I will have a go at making one of these too. See you Tuesday! Cheers from sunny Aus!
this has been the most entertaining 47 minutes and 30 seconds ever! well done Carlos for persevered with the carpenting! I am inspired to make one for The Last Homely House! If I do, I'll make a video for you guys! xxxxx
Kate, I think your DIY skills far exceed those of Carlos' !
It was hilarious! Good for Carlos for sticking with it!
Make one Kate!
I would love to see you make one too! Pink with Lime Green lights perhaps?
The Last Homely House Perhaps John would enjoy sharing this video - I can imagine his giggles! X
Carlos thank you for being such a good sport. It takes courage to do something for the first time on camera to be viewed by thousands.
Thank you Sandra!
I alternated between laughing and fear for Carlos' safety. 🙏
😂
Same here. 🤨🤨🤨🤨
Yes I was sure there was going to be an injured hand and a torn sweater!
🤣
At one point I told myself, "Get prepared for blood to be involved."
Out of everyone, it looks like Helmer was having the most fun.
Very true!
You need not worry Carlos about keeping the audience entertained, you managed that all by yourself. So funny. Brilliant job. 💕💕💕
Thank you!
I was enjoying watching Helmet playing in the background whenever the action got slow!
Oh boys, you are certainly, by far, the most adorable couple, ever!!! And Helmer, having such sweet fun by himself, is the secret "star" of this episode
He was having a lot of fun!
@@ARNECARLOS he always has... Such a happy soul
I LOVE this dogme surprise that Arne has sprung on Carlos - and without having seen the ending I predict, that just like Pippi L Carlos will do it with Arne's coaching! At the end of the episode I"m sure there will be a beautiful star and I will have laughed myself off the couch at least once! Edited to add: 😂😂 "are you still happy?" NO. "maybe I can peel a pear..." Official first "laughing off the couch" point 14 minutes in....
Thank you!
Same wirh me. Wait to see Arne cooking!!! 🤣🤣🤣
@@willow9526 Yes, Arne may find that he does have to do more cooking! 🤣🤣 Carlos did a great job with his first carpentry project :-) So I think the ball is now in Arne's court!
Peeling the pear from Porridge gate was PRICELESS!!!! LOL
I'm dying here...."now I get it" after 15 minutes of drilling noise!! Carlos your comedy gold.
Thank you!
Carlos: This is really the easiest thing to make ever!
* Struggles for 15 minutes with the drill machine*
😂
🤣🤣🤣
right!?!?!?
chuckle...yeah that was funny and cringe worthy...I'm a female and l just wanted to take that out of his hands and fix it for him....
“I can peel a pear or two”...!!! So funny!
🍐
Haha! "I can peel a pear or two while you do this" you guys are too funny.
Thank you!
This is the kind of content we all need for Christmas this year! Thank you Arne and Carlos for your generous amount of time you are giving us!
And Helmer was soooo cute running around
He was having a lot of fun!
You two never fail to brighten my day. I was a little nervous for Carlos safety for a while. I love Arne saying “carpeting”. Can’t wait for the daily ☺️
Omg. Carlos I am laughing so hard tears are falling. Love you two. I needed this video today.
I am ready for the Christmas balls!!!
So are we!
Love Arne's payback for the pears! "I've made my last pear!" So funny! Carlos- I love your spirit. You embodied all of us learning through trial and error and we have ALL been there--but we rarely have the whole world watching our mistakes! I am so looking forward to this month. Merry Christmas!
Agreed! Lovely episode and despite the chuckles under his breath Arne was so kind in how he coached Carlos through his first carpentry project. I think kindness is the single most important characteristic a good teacher has - great to see it in action here.
That is very true!
You have made my First Sunday of Advent so memorable. I’m laughing with delight at your DIY project. The backdrop of your lake makes the event very special. Thank you for inviting me to spend time at your home. It’s a lovely day in Iowa. But sadly no snow.
Sending blessings to you.
Maybe you will get some snow later in the week!
The best show I've ever seen. After 14 minutes I laughed tears. Carlos is admirable.
I love you both. Liebste Grüße Iris
Thank you!
Arne, you are so supportive . Anyone can learn from with you, even Carlos.
Well done Carlos!!
Thank you!
Oh I love this, the struggle can be so real when you don’t know the equipment.
Very true!
So now I don't know which was more funny - the Christmas Star or Porridgegate !!! Well done both of you.
Carlos did a terrific job on that star! And Arne’s chuckling under his breath made me belly laugh. Its always a joy watching you!
Thank you!
Adorable. And a good reminder that someone who is an expert at one thing is a beginner at another, so we shouldn't be too hard on ourselves. The little needle that goes into the drill is called the drill bit in English. The bit is the part that cuts the hole in the wood in the correct diameter.
Thank you!
You two are a delight and the star is lovely. I know that my partner and I could not have done that project without some harsh words being spoken! Love the many chuckles that you provide every episode. Looking forward to the next Advent and SAKFAB episodes!
So are we!
The whole time you were using the drill I was terrified you were going to hurt yourself! Glad it turned out so beautifully without injury or incident! Thanks for making us feel at home and for showing us the lovely surroundings. Stay well and warm!
You should be PROUD of yourself, Carlos. Well done!
Thank you!
Between you two working out the star, and Helmer leaping all over the place, I'm exhausted, from laughing! Carlos, I was trying to reach in to the screen to help you with the drill and drill bit! The best thing is, now you've made one, you can make as many as your little heart desires!
Very true!
We have a common saying in New Zealand “stick to your knitting” Still laughing
😂
Ha!
I think it is a lot safer for Arne to peel pears than for Carlos to be operating a drill!!!!!!!!!
😂
Love the positive reinforce technique Arne is using on Carlos 😉😍👍🏼
😀
Arne just use the Norsk word if you can’t find the English. We’re getting used to picking up Norwegian terminology. Carlos’s sweater looks amazing!
Oh it was so so so funny watching you both again... I Love it very much. And Special the Dog in the back....😂😂 Keep on.The Star is perfekt 👍💪Much greetings from Germany....Sorry my englisch is not so perfekt...
it's the thought that counts - not the letters
Thank you!
You guys are so sweet and that was so entertaining and funny. But, by the time you setup the star, Arne might as well knit 3 full jumpers :D That was so funny
You two are just Gold. Definitely the lid to the others pot. Watching you guys with my ear plugs in and my family looking at me weirdly as I sit and giggle. Thank you for today!
Thank you for watching!
I love that image!
I am in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in the US, and I have been looking forward to today’s Sit & Knit for a Bit episode. I am working my way through, from the beginning, to make all of the balls in your 55 Christmas Balls book and am working on pattern #7 while watching today. I also have the patterns that I ordered for the newest Advent Calendar and am excited for the “knit along” videos to start. Love to both of you and I thoroughly enjoy watching all your videos and I have learned knitting techniques that I never thought I could do. I think Arne is having just as much fun as we are watching you trying to use the power drill, but you are getting the hang of it quickly so keep it up 👍 and soon you will be a master craftsman.
You will be busy!
I’ve never used a drill before. It looked hard, but Carlos persevered , & made a great decoration. I love making gifts, too.
You should make one!
Although we do love seeing each of you try doing new things, don't be too hard on yourself. When you're making something that you've never made and using tools that you've never used before, it's difficult! And you did a good job & made a lovely outdoor decoration. I'm inspired to try one myself! After some knitting... 😉
Thank you!
What a joy! Inspiring those who thought they couldn't to know yes they can. Joy is the first candle of Advent and you both brought it abundantly. Well done!
We all can!
American English carpentry terms. Battery operated Drill is also called a ‘screw gun’ by some people. And you were using the drill bit to drill ‘pilot holes’ to prevent the wood from splitting. It’s a ‘pilot’ hole because it guides the screw into the wood, as well as removing some material to make room for the screw. Loved watching Helmer play with sticks in the background. Super and easy Christmas craft project guys...plus fun to watch.
Thank you!
Oh my goodness you two are so funny! My husband was seriously trying to give Carlos advice on the drill while I was watching this. My dog was entranced by Helmer (I think she has a crush!) And I just love watching both of you as you figure things out, in such a beautiful atmosphere. Arne and Carlos you are a gift to all of us, making us laugh at a time when we need it most. Thank you and I have already been enjoying making the Christmas Balls from your advent calendar!
Thank you!
The look on Carlos' face when he found out HE was making this star was priceless! Then Helmer stands there with his stick..like see? MY star is done LOL! End result, the star hung and lit was beautiful, and that's all that matters! I thought I would die over the pear peeling comment. That was one of the things my grandmother said, but she worded it.. was there anything on your heart, meaning was anything weighing heavily on the heart.. hadn't heard that in ages here. Thanks for the memory and the laughter guys!
You are welcome!
I am only a few minutes in to this video and I already know this is going to be my favorite Advent series of 2020! Blessings of Hope on this first Sunday of Advent.
Enjoy your Advent!
OMG! I had so much fun watching this episode! It was the PERFECT way to start my Sunday with you two (and Helmer) and a cup of coffee! Thank you for your generosity in sharing not only the secrets to making this beautiful and classic decoration, but your entertaining creative process. You wonderful guys epitomize the Christmas spirit!
Thank you!
I am so glad the lights worked because I was worried that Carlos may have broken them all by the way he was handling them! Great filming and made me laugh too. Thanks guys.
You are welcome, we all need a bit of laughter these days!
OMG😱Carlos I was so worried that you were going to get hurt with the drill. 😃
Carlos, you did a great job. Well done. I enjoyed watching the Helmer playing in the background. He is jumping around playing in the snow. He is so cute with the branch in his mouth and tossing it around. Your getting to be a pro with that drill. Yeah, Yeah!!!!! Beautiful.
Need a bit more practice!
You two are helping us cope! Your lighthearted, funny episodes are balm for the soul. Thank you.
You are correct he did do a good job. That funny Arne saying I’ll do the cooking lol
😀
this was so funny!!! love how you keep it real and not edit out your frustrations and laughter lol.
😅
Arne’s laugh is so infectious! You two are an absolute treat.
The star is a TRIUMPH, well done Carlos!
Thank you!
That looks a Bit!! Difficult I'm crying with laughter you are both so lovely.
Thank you!
I was a nervous wreck watching Carlos with the drill. So glad no blood was shed in the making of the beautiful Christmas star. Arne, you are such a supportive and patient instructor. I am sore from the laughing (and the sheer terror).
I think my favorite part is pouring tea over the joint to wash off the snow!!
I am not one to laugh at people doing something, but I have not laughed as hard as watching Carlos make the star. Thanks I needed that today.
The star is so pretty on the wall. You guys had me laughing so hard, I was in tears. I think just about all of us have struggled with a strand of lights before. LOL. Thank you, for doing what you do to share your lives with us. Happy Holidays to you both.
Happy Holidays!
You two are hilarious. You did fine there, Carlos. And you, Arne, have the naughtiest chuckle ever. Tell me about the knots in Xmas lights, probably half the world is struggling with it. XD Thanks for the funny video.
You are welcome!
Hahaha, I busted up Laughing every time Arne said *carpeting* instead of carpentry
The 🌟 you crafted looks Amazing ~ congratulations.
Carlos - you may have been out of your element but I loved how relatable this video was. You both are stars ❤️
I can't say it enough.... I just love love love you guys! You are so genuine!!! Your Sit and Knit programs are fabulous.
Thank you!
I love watching Helmet enjoy the snow with the two of you! And this has been so entertaining! Thank you Carlos! I'm so glad that Arne is helping you build your wood working skills.
😃
I loved you two today! Such fun and so many laughs were just what we all needed to keep our spirits up in this new era. I have learned how to make a star and use a drill 💕
Two new things today!
Oh my goodness, this made my cry with laughter. Absolutely hysterical. Better than any TV comedy. 🤣🤣🤣
I am so excited , I just got my Regia sock yarn in the mail. Your picture is on the label love it !
Glad you like it!
Helmer is having so much fun with his stick and totally oblivious to his human’s difficulties! So priceless! Thank you for showing us how to make this project!
Congrats Carlos! The next ones will be much easier! Helmer (sp?) is so cute! Your scenery is gorgeous!
Practice makes perfect!
Oh my gosh Carlos you had me in stitches with regard to the drill and nervous at times that you might hurt yourself too. The star turned out beautiful and looked stunning when it was all lit up. Good teaching there Arne. Take care and looking forward to the Christmas Ball knit -a-long.
So are we!
Hi Arne&Carlos,
What a lovely setting🎄
Well done Carlos, the star looks lovely😀
See you on Tuesday 🥰
KimX😘
See you Tuesday!
This was comedy gold! I wish there had been a camera on Arne.
Carlos, At the beginning of project: “This is so easy, I think we should make them for all our family and friends.”
Carlos, setting the drill down and picking up the ball of lights, “Now that the difficult part is over, let’s do the lights!”
Carlos, “Arne, why don’t you tell everyone some traditional stories, so they won’t concentrate on me.”
Me: “Arne, don’t say a word! Just keep filming!”
This is such a dark time in our history, but you are bringing joy and light to all of us. I love your creativity, stories, and home. And the star is beautiful Carlos! Good news: My husband just brought in the mail; I received my Arne and Carlos mug! Sending love to you both!
I haven't laughed so hard for ages - you are such a good sport Carlos - and I thought Arne was very encouraging. Thanks again guys! G
You are welcome!
I am enjoying this so much. Just love you guys. You bring so much joy to those who follow you.
Thank you!
Oh my goodness, you made my day, haha!
I wouldn't recommend Carlos do the carpenting and Arne the cooking, because there would be two very hungry homeless men...
😂😂
Beautiful shot of the star at night. Good job 👍💕
Thank you!
Wrap the string of lights around a paper roll and it will be less cumbersome to wrap the lights around the arms of the star. Although it did make for a fun video. Good job Carlos!
Thank you for the great tip!
That is a good tip. I remember my father making thick rolls out of paper & masking tape, and wrapping the Christmas lights around the rolls to store them. Then the next year they were ready to unroll around the tree, like your suggestion.
Thank you both so much! I haven’t laughed this much in ages. You are both so very funny and entertaining. The star turned out great thanks to Carlos’ skill and Arne’s instructions and guidance. I am in awe of your creativity and am looking forward to seeing you everyday and knitting along.
Arne is so supportive!! What a nice guy.
Thank you!
I appreciate how you can laugh with each other and offer words of encouragement. I imagine there will be many Arne and Carlos stars decorating homes this year. I know I’ll be making one!
Oh dear Carlos...you are so wonderful..I love you...you've made me laugh so hard I thought I'd be sick 🥰🤗🥰
We all need a bit of laughter now!
Absolutely 💯 and you two are so great at sharing the love and laughter 🌸🐰🌸x
Good project you two. Good team work. I like how Arne encouraged and praised your effort Carlos. You both had me cracking up! 😊🐈
As usual, I am totally mesmerized by the beauty of the surroundings.
I like the dog happily playing alone with its own stick in the snow while ignoring everything else that is going on.
It turned out so beautiful Carlos! You are quite handy with a drill! 😬❤️🧶🎄⭐️
Thank you!
Okay you couldn't have scripted this any better. Laughing very hard here - Perfect way to spend Sunday afternoon. Thanks for all you do, especially to entertain us during lockdown. Looking forward to seeing you again on December 1 !
Helmer is a born carpenter!😍🐶 fantastic job, Carlos! can't wait for Sunday with not one but TWO Arne & Carlos videos during December✨
Double billing!
@@ARNECARLOS 😅double fun and twice as much knitting I'd say🤭
Hello from Russia! You have made a wonderful star. I liked your video. Thanks for your creativity.
Thank you!
You made me laugh today! Your laughter during this project was fun! I love how kind you are to each other. ❤️
Thank you!
You two are exquisitely entertaining! This is priceless! Arne, don't let Carlos turn the camera off! Thank you so much for your time and effort doing these videos.
On my. This was the funniest thing I have seen in a long time. The star is wonderful, and yes it does look easy to make. Carlos did a great job with Arne and Helmer to encourage him. I think I might have to make one too. Carlos, I love your hat and your most beautiful smile!
Thank you!
What a delightful episode. Lots of laughter and some interesting stories. Carlos was. Dry entertaining and I am glad to see he finally mastered the drill and the lights didn’t get the better of him. I am so looking forward to your daily Christmas ball reveals. Stay safe and I will see you next week.
Carlos I was just like you trying to figure out the drill the first time in years and couldn’t remember how to do it😂. I was laughing at myself so much just like Arne was laughing. Much love to y’all! Loved this today💜
Thank you!
I am giggling sooo much! Thank you for being willing to take on this challenge while not taking it too seriously.
How can anyone knit while watching this 😂😂 you two are so much like me and my husband 😅😅😅
😂
It wasnt easy. Had to stop because i was enjoying this too much.
The struggle is REAL but so worthwhile! Congratulations on a most beautiful star! I shared the vlog with my husband and he will make one for us. Thank you for showing us the real side of woodworking! So very excited about the daily Christmas ball making.
We hope he enjoys making one!
No, no boredom here! Learning something new by watching you is fun!
Glad you liked it!
Thank you for the hilarity of watching poor Carlos struggle with that drill. I adored it! Thank you, Carlos for subjecting yourself to some good-humored ribbing. Good for you for trying something outside of your comfort zone! The star is beautiful and inspiring and a perfect Advent touch to our holiday festivities!
You two are so funny! Most people would make a project in the garage or at a work bench where they have access to lots of tools. Not necessarily down at the edge of a lake in the middle of winter, surrounded by snow. But it's all good. We love you!
Thank you!
This is the best episode ever. Sit and laugh for a bit. You guys made my day and lightened my heart.
I haven't laughed this much for a long time, thank you Arne and Carlos..... Great job guys!!
Thank you!
I love at the end when Carlos lights it and you pan out to show how it is hanging on your shed but it's reflecting in your greenhouse too. So lovely.
Thank you!
