This is the second time you’ve been there for me! First time was the oil change (I bought an air compressor pump extractor) for my 2015 328d (F31) Touring. I just traded it for a 2018 X5 35 Diesel that doesn’t have a front plate bracket. Last thing I wanted to do was drill through my bumper cover! Thanks - you do super videos!
Thank you! I was actually making a decision as to which one to use and came across your video! I bought my M4 in August 2020 and literally, not figuratively, literally got my plates earlier this month, February 2021. The car dealership messed up big time. Anyways, thank you! I just ordered a Sto-N-Sho.
I’ve had my carbonio for a year now and the only have 10k miles on it…the metal brackets are already bent beyond use. it flopped down recently and I had to take it out and bend it with my hand back to its original shape to fit it back on my grill. It’s a creative mechanism but just too many arms n levers going on to where vibration over time deforms the metal. Will prolly get a stonsho to replace soon although the carbonio is still serviceable once you bend it back into place.
Dude. Thanks for posting this. I have a Cravenspeed relocator on my car and it sets off the PDC all the time even though I have it at a stupid ass angle that doesn't look good at all. I've been looking for alternatives before making something on my own and I didn't like the Sto n Sho because it's the bottom mount style...just looks too easy to get damaged by road debris mounting it that low. I wasn't aware of the Carbonio brand. Thanks!
Thanks for the vid on the m2c and carbonio. Im trying to decide between it and usmillworks. Found one post on the forums that said you can configure the millworks to work with parking sensors but im still on the fence.
I was running the sto n sho I switched carbonio cuz the sto n sho flew off (it was screwed in as well) it wasnt sturdy on the highway kept hitting my bumper the carbonio definitely more sturdy but not as easy to take on and off but overall carbonio is better
First I've heard of StoNSho -- I have an f31 msport like yourself, but cannot find the corresponding StoNSho for the F30/F31 M-Sport on their website?? Did you use the M2/3/4 or the F2x M-Sport mount that you've linked??
BMW leaves it up to the dealer to install the front plate mounts. You can request the dealer to not install it, and if they don't, they should still give it to you separately.
Thanks! The 328d has been an excellent DD and pretty reliable. I did have some injectors replaced during the warranty period (they threw CELs, but the car still drove fine), but aside from that nothing's prematurely failed.
I live in Cali too, and just got a ticket in front of my house for missing front license plate...As I was researching on the bmw forums, many recommended these two plates. Thanks for showing an in depth review of both! One question I have for the Sto N Sho: Do you think only using the 3M tape will be enough to hold the plate up?
@@1SmokingLizard Yeah, problem with that is you can't use the OEM bracket, not easily anyway, and removing VHB on any regular basis will be a mf and a half. That being said, that's my current option. Since I've also been dinged while asleep and car was parked with no front plate...
Thanks for the videos. What is the part number for the Sto N Sho? Your link to Amazon for the F2X/F3X shows on Amazon as a 2020 M240i. I want to verify before ordering as I have a 2017 F31 M Sport. Thanks
@@brianhollander6565 Sto-N-Sho and I talked some more today and I provided them with the measurements of my plate mount. They determined that SNS217a isn't the same as what I have from them, but they did say they were open to duplicating what I have. Stay tuned!
Think the 2019-2020 M5 StoNSho upper mount would fit the 2021 M550i? Looks like you could conceivably line it up and make it work? What do you think?? The bumpers don’t look that different in the area where the plate goes...
Even though the bumpers don't look that different, the mounts can be incompatible. For example, on my wagon I originally bought the F80 mount since the bumpers didn't look too different, but I found that things didn't work and the angle of the mounting surface was different. It's unfortunately hard to tell unless you have the two bumpers side by side.
This seems to be outdated. Now, there is type 1 for cars with no adaptive cruise control and type 2 for cars with adaptive cruise control. I'm using the type 2 on my 2023 M5.
Really feel bad for you guys with that horrible plates and mountings. Why just don’t stick the plate right it is with good quality weather resistant doubletape like I did, much cleaner and 1000000x good looking
@@AndrewC89 if you get a quality tape it didn’t make any damage, I tried once and worked. Obviously you don’t need a tape to substain 100kg, 5-10kg would do the job.
Don't buy this product if you ever plan on using a car wash- mine was damaged the very 1st time-Warranty does not cover. So they refused my request for a refund.

Whoa, congrats on the F15 diesel! That's an excellent drivetrain.
So glad I found this video. I can’t wait to get mine for my 440i! They make it with 4 holes for the plate backer now!!

Are those brackets for BM only. I would like to have 1 like this for Lexus LX570. Please help😮
Hey boss do you have the link for the f30 m sport bracket u have? Your links don’t seem to be the right one
Awesome ! Thx.....
Thanks for this. Looking for one for the supra as I got the tow hook already installed so a relocater wouldn't work

Hi, what do you recommend for a 2023 BMW 330I xdrive? My vehicle came with a larger m performance lower grill.
Man answer me this I just got 2022 x5 will either of these fit it like may others don't wanna drill
Both Sto-n-Sho and Carbonio make G05 chassis (2019+) X5 license plate mounts.

I don't recall any car prior to my M2C that didn't have a front license plate mounting bracket. I'm surprised that BMW dropped the ball on this.

Thanks for the in depth review on this product. Question, are you using the North America mount or the rest of the world mount?
I have the North American mount, so smaller plate.

VHB 3M tape will work just fine. Just remember to allow the the bond to cure for a minimum of 24-48 hours with no resistance forces.

Hi, does the Carbonio come with bolts to mount the license plate?
Yes, the Carbonio includes four screws to mount the plate to their back bracket.
I like the Carbonio front plate mount, this is the best I have seen so far for the front mount. I wonder if this will work for my Ghibli 2019?
Carbonio looks better, It is not blocking your Kidney grills.

Yes, they have Sto-n-Sho for X7. You can find it on their site: stonsho.com/bmw/bmw-x-series/front-plate-bracket

Nope. All my front sensors work just fine. Also, Carbonio has a variant if you have the ACC sensor down low too.
