Thank you for researching one solution to avoid drilling holes in the bumpers of a luxury automobile in a State with mandatory front license plate regulations, and for taking the time to put together this excellent video.
I currently live in Boston and have a Bmw 435. I only use the tow hook plate mounts only when I have to get an inspection. I know a handful of people who drives European cars without front plates that has never gotten in trouble with the police. It’s technically illegal in mass without it but the cops really don’t pull you over for it, and even if they do, it’s usually only a warning. As long as you don’t do anything stupid, cops could care less
I’m from MA and I have Black 2020 M340i I didn’t want to drill my bumper so I drill a hole on the right and left side of the plate and used Tie wrap to tie the plate to the bottom grill and It works I don’t think it block anything.
US Mill Works is the way to go. I've had one of their standard (non-quick-release) mounts on my '14 VW since I got it new over 6 years ago and it's been rock solid from day one. I've lived in NJ my whole life so front plates were always just a given, but when the dealer asked if I wanted to drill into the bumper to mount the front plate, something about that just sounded wrong. It's definitely a more enthusiast move to mount it in the tow hook and if you throw a light shaded cover on the plate, it takes away from the stark contrast of a black car and white plate (or yellow in NJ's case).
I've been living in Illinoyed since 2009 and they too have the front plate law...I hate it. They used to have sports team plates and I wanted a White Sox plate...not because I'm a fan but because it's black. I was going to have my vinyl guy cover the SOX logo and WS but sadly they don't allow them anymore, figures...screwed again. I feel your pain but there's a bill trying to get passed here to eliminate the front plate 🙏
I have a 430i with the same US Millworks plate bracket. If you want to avoid the sensor issue, you need to have it be almost 90 degrees with the bumper instead of following the contour of it. Hope this makes sense!
Got it! US Millworks says I need to mount it upside down to avoid the sensor but then it blocks part of the headlight and grille. I’ll try your idea, thanks man!
Oh yes, that too!!! And sometimes I just take it off and “forget” that I’m supposed to have it on. It looks so much cleaner without! Also, you WILL lose those pins so be careful. Keep up the great work on the channel!
This exact US MillWorks bracket (Quick release) failed on me in less than a year. The 4 allen bolts that hold the main ball joint together simply kept coming loose even right after fixing it, and then going for only 10 minutes of driving. I highly suggest anyone in the market for one of these with an F32 stay away from this product. Its also worth noting that for the entire duration of owning it and trying multiple different mounting options, it still triggered my parking sensor alarms and I had to permanently live with this annoyance.
Umm what?? NY requires a front license plate, it's mandated. You got lucky honestly. i got ticketed for "not" having a front license plate but the meter maid didn't see it in between my front bumper guard. so i definitely won that fight.
They say it helps with enforcement but what about all of the out-of-state drivers? At least I can tint my windows in MA. In NY I would’ve failed inspection for having more than a 70% tint which is basically no tint at all.

What's the point of keeping this setup if it triggers the backup sensor?
I just got one from BMS and I could not figure out a way to stop it from blocking the sensor... I guess it's not just me
In Boston here too, getting my car shipped here soon and struggling to figure out where I’m supposed to install that front plate
I think your “ intro” needs to be shortened... it’s pretty long!
I moved to Mass in 1998 and now live in MD and miss that "Spirit of America" plate. Awaiting for my Platypus tow hook mount to arrive
Suggestion: Add a wide border black license plate frame around it. It looks silly and generic the way it is now.
are there anti-theft properties to the rho plate?
This is why I prefer European style plates. Even the front plates look good on any car.

Have You Looked At Sto N Sho?

Yes I have a feeling that after I pass inspection I might take it off and “forget” to put it back on 😂 thanks man I appreciate the support!
Interesting video from a UK perspective. Glad I don't have to do this. Good video 👍
When you order from US MIL Works, did they send you an confirmation email after purchase?

Where you been!? Sold my 440i, but loved the content. Had a white one, track pack and mppsk.
That’s horrible. Question is how do you take that crap off
lol how much is the front bumper?
Hey upload more on the 440i, I’m about to buy one.... please, please

Ugh state plates look rough, I have an authentic Zurich, Switzerland plate on mine and looks perfect.
I’ll bet it has cute pansy flowers on a Switzerland plate, eh Nancy?
Intro way to longggg
Definitely needs a beefy frame around the plate.. Looks naked! I’d go to a dealer for advise. I have mine center mounted with double beefy frame.
Leave it off til you have to get the inspection. If you don’t have to have it on for daily driving, leave it off lol
What a ton of trash talk ! Don’t do any of this , you’ll get a ticket . And this trash will fall off your car . 🤣
I live in Ohio and they are supposed to be doing away with front plates this summer, but there are some fighting it.

@@TheTestDrive Good to hear about the window tint! Glad you didn't have to drill into your bumper; certainly nice to have this option.

Welcome to the Commonwealth
This video is 7 minutes too long. Quit rambling about stuff we don’t care about. Focus on the plate mount and how it installs.
I refuse to put a plate on my front, I leave it against the windshield on my dash.
You will get a ticket for doing that in my state
Get the Sto N Sho bracket....
Oh, how sad that you must obey state vehicle regulations. I just put the bracket on my 2023 X2. Didn't sweat it. My BMW looks just as good.
Fuck that sucks you had to do that. Looks like shit
STO N’ SHO. For the different BMW models. Check it out and forget this nonsense you’re inducing on your BMW. This was very *cringy* to watch.
It is what it is. Just wait until you get you excise tax bill! Still better than living in Trump-land haha!
Trump has been a better potus than president select pedo Joe
