The borla catback is another great exhaust. Very unique sound compared to other exhausts. A little quiet on its own. But with a downpipe it’s perfect IMO.
Good point! I've only heard the Borla once in person. For some reason, not very many people in my area have it.

I daily drive and sti with the borla catback, and I couldn’t be more happy with it. When you want it to be loud, it is, and when you wanna be quiet and chill, it is. And it gets some occasional pops on down shifts XD. Edit: I forgot to mention how easy the install was. First try with no leaks, and no extra gaskets are required.

They literally shipped it within 2-3 hours of my ordering the mid pipe. Nameless is really stepping it up! Can’t wait to hear the full catback
My favorite exhaust system, which I have on my 2020 STI, is the Remark 4 inch quad burnt tip axle backs with the remark non resonated mid pipe. I have stock headers, stock up pipe and stock down pipe, and it sounds like a beast! I highly recommend it for those who do not want to mess up their manufacturers warranty but still want to bring out the beast in their STI!
Do you need a tune for this, I'm thinking of running the same system but resonated instead of non
@@lordflxcko5763 You do not need a tune to do mid pipe and exhaust/axle backs. You only need to tune if you do a down pipe or anything else under the hood.

As I was scrolling thru comments, I was wondering if anyone was gonna mention Borla. I have it with the Cobb downpipe and it has a nice deep growl at idle. Aggressive but not excessively loud. Definitely a less common choice but I like it!

I have Q300 on my WRX STI 2012 sedan and it is great. Good sound and comfortable for long distance traveling.
I have the borla s type and I think it has a deeper tone than the r400 but has a good aggressive sound when you get on it. Also no droning on the highways.
I love my magnaflow it has a deep tone to it with makes the engine sound even better
I don't know how you missed the fact that AWE makes a stereo sounding exhaust. The sound and flow from left and right muffler differ greatly.

I ran the ark and it is 100% worth the money. Tomei uel headers, Cobb catted downpipe, and the ark. The best sounding Subaru I’ve ever owned.
I have a 2019 sti and I went with the remark axel back and I can’t say I don’t love it. Cheaper than most but made really well will be buying the midpipe sometime this year

I have the r400 for my sti and honestly i personally dont find theres a lot of drone in the cabin when driving highway... All in all I love it and totally worth the $$
The greddy RS single exit has to be the best sounding exhaust I've heard so far.
Good Video, I’ve been looking to upgrade my exhaust on my 17 STi for something louder than stock but not super loud, I like how the AWE touring sounds
For my fa20 wrx I have killer b headers, PLM CATTED j pipe, invidia r400 but I got the nameless performance muffler deletes for the r400 I love it. Will be very shortly changing over the PLM j pipe to an ETS J pipe.
I went with the Corsa, really happy with the sound and can’t go wrong with their no drone design.

I agree with the AWE recommendation as someone who only wishes he scooped up a WRX
I started out with a nameless axel back that had 4” double wall and burnt tips, it was alright for the time being, I switched to the Tomei system and have never looked back, I now have a Turbo XS catted downpipe, sounds amazing, can’t wait for the header I want to get.
I like the idle rumble of my stock 2019 exhaust.

Corsa with the stock DP is pretty good, doesn’t sound too bad with an ELH and 3” downpipe either.
Came here to say this. Corsa is easily my favorite. No drone like the Invidias, either. I've had mine for 6 years with a 3" downpipe and get so many compliments and inquiries about it.
Love my AWE and I can agree no drone inside at all and as you said compliments the EJ sound well.
AWE is probably one of the more overlooked exhausts for the VA chassis.... but gives such a great sound/tone, and makes my FA sound great!
I have an awe touring on my 17 STi with grimspeed downpipe. Sounds so good on coldstart.
Once it warms up its quiet at idle . When i pass 3k rpm its sounds deep and agressive.
I love it too. If I was in the market for an exhaust, it would be an AWE Touring.
That wheel and tire setup at 6:00 is sweet.
I put a nameless with 3" tips and 4" mufflers on my wrx and I have no regrets...tbh I saw long lead times on their website so I emailed them - They got the exhaust I wanted to me in a week, despite the lead times...

I'm considering 4" muffler and 3.5" neochrome or going 4" double walled... I'd love to year how it would sound/look on the wrx in person though xD looking for one that isn't obnoxiously loud but a mature sound that accents the car

One I feel like is slept on is the Borla S Type “ATAK” exhausts. It’s similar to the AWE Touring in person. Has some really good sound with no drone and has nice crackles on down shifts. That’s the one I personally got for my 18 STI
Had an AWE Touring on my 19 STI. Upgraded to a Cobb Ti kit and immediately regretted not going with it in the first place. The Build quality, sound, fitment, and appearance are worlds apart compared to AWE. You definitely get what you pay for. Sound is much deeper and not as high pitched. Very light drone. My particular AWE fit like shit and was noticeably uneven. Could never get over the poor build quality.
Little late but the tomei is definitely not that loud. Had the r400 and the nameless so far tomei has been the best sounding.
What stinks is I love love love the sound of the r400 with my catless invidia but the highway drown at 3000rpm is bruuuutal. I hear the extreme TI gets rid of that. I’m also told that around 500hp the invidia becomes too restrictive because it goes down to 2.5” at the Y pipe

Think i'll go with Cobb, something more quieter. Stock STI exhaust is kinda loud on cold start and dronie on highway.
Yeah, the Cobb is really quiet while still providing a good sound at wide open throttle.

the cobb is the absolute best even at 3500 rpm 80mpoh it has no drone and i have the cobb full exhaust its the deepest sounding
Recently bought a 2021 WRX Premium. I always thought that these cars came with some sound already. Mine has a little bit of a deep tone but not what I am looking for. Really didn't want to drop too much money on upgrading the exhaust, at least not right away. I like most of the ones on the video except for the one with the single pipe with the larger exhaust opening. A litttle too loud in my opinion. I'm sure this is much more difficult than doing a cat back on a Honda civic. I would probably look into having it done by someone to make sure its done right.
Id love to see where the Greddy Revolution RS ranks on your list!! I test drove a used S209 with it this exhaust on it and it was very comparable with the Tomei!!

I have the SPT/STI exhaust on my STI right now but the sound on the AWE is like an enhanced version of it.

I have the Crawford exhaust on my 04 wrx but it’s loud af lots of turbo whistle and pops and backfires great content on the channel
i have awe tourings on my 2020 wrx, they sound great and flow great but they break on the welds easy.

I like my agency power catback not too drony a mellow deep tone but audible when on the throttle comparable to some of the other muffler catback systems

Magnaflow xMod. has some 1st gen quirks but sounds great and has a modular mid muffler option that greatly reduces any drone for road trips.

Noble titanium exhaust is lighter and deeper in tone. More rumble over the tomie. Less raspy 10lbs.

I have spt exhaust on my sti limited sounds badass gives a good sound rumble
for sum reason one side of the R400 tips just decides to stick to the tip housing no matter how I adjust it :/ everything else is fine tho and it sounds really nice. But since its just a catback its not hot enough to melt anything thankfully
I think the lightest exhaust is the RK single exit Track edition. Sub 7lbs maybe?

What is the best exhaust to get if I want a good tone with the iconic Subaru sound but can listen to music when I want without turning it way up just to hear over the exhaust. Looking for a good sounding exhaust but not too quiet or too loud like I said above. What are your thoughts?

Depends on how loud you want to go. For catless, the AWE is the safe choice between loud and quiet with no/minimal drone.

Everyone sleeps on that Borla it sounds better than any of the Subi exhausts on market without sounding like garbage loudness is nice but resonance is also important and some of them sound way to tingy
Borla sounds great, but they designed a cat-back that isn't a full 3" exhaust. The flange that connects to the downpipe tapers down to 2.25.
@@CarsWithJR I have the Borla, and my tuner said the taper doesn't really affect anything till 500+ hp, but the sound is so good I'll probably get a shop to make it true 3" if i ever make that much power. Whats your thoughts on how the taper affects power?

Is the Cobb quieter than the Q300 while cruising? I had the ETS Quite with resonator and found it too loud for a daily driver after upgrading to EL headers and an ETS rotated turbo kit with catless down pipe.
