It’s the best quality materials, best design for more efficient extraction, sits perfectly on the table, everything is amazing so that costs money. It’s evolution in coffee culture and everything they produce is the best. The grinders are insane. Bring it on can’t wait to buy the machine.
One thing this guy had definitely learned from Apple. That is how to overprice stuff and make consumers pay loads for add ons that should have been included.
A lot of manufacturers have moved to SS boilers and groups now as the wear and tear is much better and there's zero flavour contamination. But you raise a good point, if your grouphead is made of brass, probably stick to brass portafilters. 👌
Yep, just uploading a short video of my shot I pulled with it trying to use a small espresso cup, that's a mistake :D Cortado /Cappa cups are fine though :)
I think the original portafilters / baskets actually were ONE piece! I like how it sits flat, no tamp stand needed! I don't like the sharper beveled edge where my funnel sits, the magnets don't grab onto it, and coffee settles there on the ledge. Also due to the thicker metal you need to use paper filters or the holes will clog up and be hard to clean (haven't tried it yet myself, a bit scared :p ) it is easy to clean with the paper bottom filters though, but just rinsing with water leaves coffee oils which accumulate in the corners so a light soap/detergent at least sometimes is definitely still necessary.
Should be able to soak them in cleaner (which everyone should be doing on regular baskets and portafilters, anyway) they will get all the oils out. Yes, I had some Rancilio and Fiorenzato portafilters that were one piece, but they didn't have built in baskets like the Weber one does. It's the only one I know of that is completely one piece including the precision basket.
Strange my bottomless portafilter is never dirty. I just clean it quickly after every use. I can even replace the basket. Super versatile don’t you think? The tight corners on the inside of the unifilter don’t seem easy to clean. I can’t see why this is brilliant But if he comes from apple it obviously has to be ...
I’d recommend you try it before thinking about commenting I’ve watched countless videos of the unifilter i actually hassled Ryd to go and play with it and from watching this he did 😂 But there is science that backs it’s performance and like everything Webber it’s the best of the best 😊 #nooffence
So you haven’t tried it yourself. Instead you watched countless other videos of it and science backs it? Any particular science maybe? I completely accept your expertise regarding this product. I should have never started interacting here
@@leflixestla4659 I’ve actually received one this morning Go check out Lance Hedricks video on it I’m no influencer or am I sponsored by Webber I just appreciate the craftsmanship
Hi there! That's ok, it might not be for everyone. But I have tried many different portafilters over the years and I can say unequivocally that the taste is better in a Unifilter. Not by 50% or what have you, but noticeable. Maybe it has something to do with the baskets bulging, not sure. But hey, if it isn't for you that's ok. No need to verbally abuse me though, I'm just reporting on it. I didn't invent and I don't sell it. 👌
Yes, Weber makes great espresso products, unfortunately, the 5 products that I would like to purchase are “sold out”, so it doesn’t do me much good. 🤷♂️
🥰🤗 Thanks Pete! Actually that's definitely something everyone should understand: if you start with the right product (high quality beans) you will get a great result no matter what equipment. Nothing can fix bad coffee beans. 👌 Thanks for the comment.
Yeh it could potentially hold 24g-26g because of how fine you have to grind. I'm not sure you'd get 30g in but they have released a basket for a triple shot.
The Rolex analogy does not work. The reason we still have Rolex watches is because watches are built to be serviced and there is a supply of parts. This portafilter has none of those qualities. Of course it has the build quality, but the reason we have old machines is because they can be fixed.
Nah that's not big leap in espresso making It's just an another overpriced barista tool Just pick a regular bottomless portafilter+ridgeless basket and that's it.
While it might be high priced (hard to say if it's overpriced because if you like it, it's cheap since you'll never have to buy another again) it's definitely not a regular naked portafilter. Have you used one properly? I think from a glance it looks like nothing special but when you get stuck into one you'll see there's no comparison.
Okay. Yes please. I am a huge Apple guy and this approach to problem solving is crucial.
I had some of the best espresso of my life while in Italy and the dude was using a rusty portafilter and a 20 year old tamper.
Yeh it's definitely not the equipment that defines the best coffee.
Super awesome video. So many things he says make so much sense. Can’t wait to see the machine they come out with too
Oh man, a machine from weber workshops will be amazing! 🤩 Expect it to be $15k+ though🫣

Back then when this first came out I would have disagreed, but having seen the direction of the company, I tend to agree now. Especially the gold WDT🙄
They have the best coffee products on the market 😍
Do you think that possibility to use different baskets is not as good?
Fitting stainless portafilter lugs into a brass group (most e61, lever, etc.) seems destined to end with the group wearing at an accelerated rate...

Looks like its creating a mess unless extra wide cup is used. Do you have more videos with extraction?
I don't yet but I'm waiting on one for my other machine and I'll play around with it. Yes, it's the whole "ugly coffee but tastes better" situation

What about same solution but double spout?
I don't think it can work because there will be oils caught in the spouts.
Anyone know of a 58mm basket that has vertical walls like this one? Every one I see curves at the bottom.
Weber workshops just released a basked the same as this. And I think WAFO has similar ones but sooo exey.
Yes. Yes it is. Once you've drank extraction from it it's hard to go back.
I calculated my costs over a million coffees and it's about .01c a coffee. Pretty cheap for an outstanding piece of equipment! 👌
Glad to hear that i get mine in a few days!!!

I understand. 😀 I like to use both and that's why Pesado have the best of both worlds: A hybrid. 👌🙌
Ok I’m sold 😂 thanks Ryd!😂❤

NOT at $US365
Yeh it seems expensive (and it is) but in my case, I have spent more on subpar baskets and portafilters, so it's cheaper for me. 😅

You’re locked into one style of basket for $400. Why would you do that to yourself?

For almost 400$ it’s not worth it. They need to cut the price in half and maybe ppl will check it out.
The should just cut the BS, not the price. Also, $400 is stupid money for a this.
Fraud. Side over extraction. Inside under extraction
Pure gimmick for a $350 gear
