I will never understand the large amount of hate Season 5 gets. To me, prior to Season 9, it was the last season I could comfortably judge as having more good than bad episodes. Season 5 (and also Season 4) may be nothing compared to Seasons 1-3, especially with how different and (badly) transitional they are, but in terms of post-movie, there are episodes from both seasons that can be classified as having pre-movie quality. They take a lot of risks, especially Season 5. And there are a lot of bad episodes, but aside from Good Neighbors, Atlantis Squarepantis, and others (all from Season 5), they aren't really that abominable. At their best, they can be just slightly or moderately irritating, but things will get much worse with Season 6 and especially Season 7 (and also a bit of Season 8 with episodes like Pet Sitter Pat). Season 5, until Season 9, will probably be the last season with more good SpongeBob than ScumBob. We're heading down a dark road... Hope you're ready for this, Pieguy. (you'll need it)

In one of PIEGUYRULZ’s early Spongebob videos, he declares that Spongebob should have ended after Season 4 (he probably didn’t like Season 5 originally), but now with him saying that Season 5 has some of the must see episodes of the show, it shows just how good Season 5 really was.
I'm really disappointed Battle of Bikini Bottom isn't on this list; it's my favorite episode of Season 5 since it uses the Patrick vs. SponegBob trope so well ^w^

Hm, I haven't seen a lot of these episodes in a very long time. I'll admit that "Krabs a la Mode" is a pretty good one, though. I guess I was wrong to assume that there were no good Spongebob episodes at all after season four. There definitely are a few, here and there.
To me, about 90% of season 4 episodes, 70% of season 5 episodes, 40% of episodes from season 6 and 7, 60% of episodes from season 8 and 65% of episodes from season 9 are worth watching and are "good" episodes. And the rest of the episodes of each season are about half meh and half scumbob. (I only watched about half of seasons 10 and 11, a handfull of episodes from 12 and 3 episodes from season 13 so I dont have an opinion on those seasons since I didnt watch them all the way through yet) Also, my top 5 seasons are 4, 5, 8, 3, and 2 in that order. 3 and 2 would be higher but I watched those episodes way too often as a kid

Yeeaahh, it's basically a Plankton Torture fic and Mr. Krabs is even _worse_ than just a money hog; he wants Plankton *dead.* It's bad, trust me. But hey, there will be episodes (especially Plankton's Pet, the opposite of a torture fic; I call them "love letters") will be a nice refresher from all the bad, bad episodes to come. Speaking of bad episodes, I have a feeling either season 7, season 8, or both will be Scumbob seasons. I do consiter Season 5 underrated and more entertaining than Season 4. But, Season 5 and Season 4 are more memorable than Season 6 and beyond, even though I can sit through Season 6 and beyond just fine and consiter them watchable.
I wouldn't show someone that because it is a bit of a Patrick's a Prick episode. It is good but it might turn people off. The whole point of this list is to get people in to Season 5.
I'd also add Sing A Song Of Patrick, New Digs, and Boat Smarts. Even if YOU don't care for the 1st & 3rd episodes that i've listed, i'd definitely recommend these to even old SpongeBob fans! They are HILARIOUS IMO!

Spongebob vs. The Patty Gadget is one I'm surprised wasn't part of the first three seasons. Really, I think the point where Spongebob really went downhill is sometime during season 6. Seasons 4 and 5 aren't perfect (though imo, season 4 fits nicely with the pre-movie episodes-I remember a lot of season 4 episodes to be classics), but I still remember them fondly.

Going off my personal experience, a few years ago, I caught Best Frenemies playing & I wanted to watch it to see how modern SpongeBob was & I was alright with it. Given it had Plankton & Krabs working together & with me liking Plankton teaming up with most other people, I found it hard to dislike. That & I swear that I heard Plankton say crap in that episode. I thought if they can manage to slide something like that past the censors then there must still be some redeeming qualities to the series & it was that moment on that I let myself be more open to it & not hate the current series anymore.
Whoa, I forgot that one was late season 4. I quit after Karate Island so even after seeing the reviews, anything in late season 4 to season 5 kind of blends together for me.
In my opinion, it would have been much better to start out with your tenth favorite episode and end it with your favorite. It actually makes a lot more sense, but besides that this was a great reversed top 10 and it would be great to see more of these! :D
It probably got lost when they were releasing the episodes. I mean when you're making 48 Episodes in just 1 year alone, it's definitely likely something can go wrong.

Huh, guess I was a bit too hard on Season 5... I used to think Friend or Foe was the only good episode in it, but I now remember the good- even great- aspects of a few of these episodes listed. Hell, The Krusty Sponge actually WAS a great satire, and did have some great jokes in it! *meow* "And there were no survivors." XDDD Ahh, that was great...
Same on you, buddy, I haven't seen a James Bond movie either, but I have played Goldeneye on the Nintendo 64, which is one of my favorite games of all time, though my top 10 favorite games are made by Rare.
One thing that I don't understand about that Patchy story arc is this continuity error: according to Christmas Who, Patchy is the leader of the Spongebob Fan Club. There was one thing that really annoyed me about Rugrats as well: Tommy has tons of Reptar merchandise, even though in Reptar's first appearance in At the Movies, the story arc was that the Reptar movie was rated PG-13 and that the parents didn't want for Tommy to see it, and Tommy was so annoyed by the Dummi Bears Movie that he escaped with his friends to find the Reptar Movie. Unfortunately, in the future episodes that PG-13 part and story arc was completely thrown out the window, like, the Walk with Reptar toy. Why would a PG-13 movie spawn a kids toy? And also, if that story arc still exists, then why would such an overprotective mom as Didi decide to expose Tommy to Reptar a lot even though the movie was rated PG-13? Oh, my head hurts...
The way he describes to love a patty is exactly what I think about it, except that I don't think it's bad. When people compare it to things like good neighbors or the splinter, I feel like they're overreacting. To me compared to the gross imagery in the splinter and greasy buffoons, or the insufferable filler in the main drain or it came from goo lagoon or bad squid ward torture porns, an episode that's just a little bit odd, this one, is kind of amusing in a wtf sort of way. That said, the clam scene is really bad, it is gross at the end, there isn't much comedy and the song is...ugh. I recommend watching this without expectations or a serious outlook and just accepting it as a weird story.
I think one flaw of Krabs A La Mode is that it has too much Plankton torture at some points. Like, in earlier seasons, when Plankton was losing, they didn't made him suffer this badly. In here, however, he has to stay inside an icey cube screaming in anger. Also, when he was frozen, shouldn't everything else in the building have frozen too? That cartoon logic.
I never really understood all the hate post-movie SpongeBob get. Seasons 4 and 5 are actually pretty decent, in my opinion. It seems like that's something we both agree on, PieGuy. However, I will say that Seasons 6 and 7 are the weakest seasons.
I would say it's because most people over-exaggerate its bad qualities (though in some instances, it is rather justified) and not focus enough on the good qualities. I can agree that a lot of post-movie is mediocre, though.
One time I was watching spongebob One Coarse Meal Or something but I didn’t know I was watching lol but a friend walked in she was one grade lower than me and she looked at me very weirdly. Later she told me that SpongeBob is weird and stupid so I should show these to her

Forget Sandy riding a seahorse. How about the fact that there are manatees being portrayed as cattle, which of course is a play on the sea cow phrase. You'd think a show like this would make a joke like that more often!

I use awesome slow motion squidward pixel art animation as my avatar on a few sites. The episode is so over the top I love it. Maybe because I watch anime and it's funny in a ironic way. I honestly didn't find the hospital scene to annoying.

I have a season 5 compilation dvd and one of the episodes on that dvd was goo goo gas.
I would recommend Roller Cowards first THEN Krabs á la Mode. Roller Cowards was the episode that made me want to watch SpongeBob.
For some reason, Modern SpongeBob is super pleasing to look at. If the episode isn't written well, I can still enjoy looking at it. Idk why. Maybe the use of colors...

Huh, guess I was a bit too hard on Season 5... I used to think Friend or Foe was the only good episode in it, but I now remember the good- even great- aspects of a few of these episodes listed. Hell, The Krusty Sponge actually WAS a great satire, and did have some great jokes in it!

One thing that I don't understand about that Patchy story arc is this continuity error: according to Christmas Who, Patchy is the leader of the Spongebob Fan Club. There was one thing that really annoyed me about Rugrats as well: Tommy has tons of Reptar merchandise, even though in Reptar's first appearance in At the Movies, the story arc was that the Reptar movie was rated PG-13 and that the parents didn't want for Tommy to see it, and Tommy was so annoyed by the Dummi Bears Movie that he escaped with his friends to find the Reptar Movie. Unfortunately, in the future episodes that PG-13 part and story arc was completely thrown out the window, like, the Walk with Reptar toy. Why would a PG-13 movie spawn a kids toy? And also, if that story arc still exists, then why would such an overprotective mom as Didi decide to expose Tommy to Reptar a lot even though the movie was rated PG-13? Oh, my head hurts...
Nostalgia Works It's at least a little bit of Truth In Television. Tons of adult franchises (like Alien and Robocop) get kids toys made of them.

The way he describes to love a patty is exactly what I think about it, except that I don't think it's bad. When people compare it to things like good neighbors or the splinter, I feel like they're overreacting. To me compared to the gross imagery in the splinter and greasy buffoons, or the insufferable filler in the main drain or it came from goo lagoon or bad squid ward torture porns, an episode that's just a little bit odd, this one, is kind of amusing in a wtf sort of way. That said, the clam scene is really bad, it is gross at the end, there isn't much comedy and the song is...ugh. I recommend watching this without expectations or a serious outlook and just accepting it as a weird story.
I think one flaw of Krabs A La Mode is that it has too much Plankton torture at some points. Like, in earlier seasons, when Plankton was losing, they didn't made him suffer this badly. In here, however, he has to stay inside an icey cube screaming in anger. Also, when he was frozen, shouldn't everything else in the building have frozen too? That cartoon logic.

I never really understood all the hate post-movie SpongeBob get. Seasons 4 and 5 are actually pretty decent, in my opinion. It seems like that's something we both agree on, PieGuy.
However, I will say that Seasons 6 and 7 are the weakest seasons.
I would say it's because most people over-exaggerate its bad qualities (though in some instances, it is rather justified) and not focus enough on the good qualities. I can agree that a lot of post-movie is mediocre, though.
season 8 is much worse.

I use awesome slow motion squidward pixel art animation as my avatar on a few sites. The episode is so over the top I love it. Maybe because I watch anime and it's funny in a ironic way. I honestly didn't find the hospital scene to annoying.
