  • This JCS inspired true crime documentary is the very famous case of Phil Hartman. This video may contain my most detailed psychology breakdown thus far, I really really hope you all enjoy.
Once again, since this case is so well known and publicized; I am definitely understanding that there may be some facts that I will have to update in a future release. I have also been more tired than usual while working on this episode so as usual PLEASE notify me of anything you may notice that I should double fact-check or correct before my next re-release :)
    Thank you again for watching!

    CORRECTIONS:
I mention that Phil worked along side the likes of Tina Fey - This is a timeline issue, Apparently Tina did not start on SNL until 1997, while Phil left the show 3 years before hand in 1994.
I will definitely correct this in a future rerelease or update!

My old man was an extra in Jingle All the Way and is a huge fan of Phil Hartman. He saw Phil hanging around near the set and tried to sneak some photos with his camera even though he wasn't supposed to. Phil ended up spotting my dad with his camera and shouted to him, "Hey, you, what do you think you're doing? That's not how you take a picture!"
He then introduced himself, Maria Shriver, and Arnold Schwarzenegger and they all posed together for pictures. Really good dude.

I didn't know too much about this tragedy. Thank you for covering it! I have mixed feelings on the case and was going to type out a loooong wall of text about it, but I think I can summarize: I just CANNOT empathize with Brynn. She had the perfect opportunity to get help this entire time, but let the narcissistic jealousy AND drugs take their babies father away. Not only did she steal their father, but their own mother too, because she was too cowardly to face the consequences. She robbed their children of closure. I do not understand why they were buried together, Brynn should not be remembered fondly. IMO She was a loser who killed her own husband and left two beautiful children as orphans. I hope they are okay now. Rest in Peace Phil.

I know some people attribute some small share of blame to Andy Dick, after Jon Lovitz' comments on the matter, but at the end of the day it was a person who was sick who did an awful thing and there's no room in the situation for anger because it's so full of grief.

This is a case I had never heard of, though I was born in the 80s and absolutely love SNL I have never came across this. Thank you I really appreciate hearing such an in depth look at such a fascinating case that isn’t one of the more recent and overly touched on stories.
    Great content!

Thanks for using the particular overview description that you did for Borderline Personality Disorder, especially that last paragraph. As someone who has it, it's unfortunately a bit of a catch-22 when it comes to getting diagnosed, because it has such a bad reputation, doctors are reluctant to hand out the diagnosis, therefore delaying proper treatment. Nice video, this all occurred when I was very young so I had no idea that this had happened.

I don’t but have friends who do. I read and watch things to try and understand as much as I can, but of course that’s just touching the surface.
I like seeing someone who presents the facts about disorders because otherwise, I feel it is not being respectful of those who may have one.
Thank you for trusting strangers with something so personal, and please know that not everyone is so ignorant that when they hear ‘disorder’ they think something bad-I certainly don’t. Bless you :)

      1. It's none of your god damned business.
      2. You have no idea what he would have wanted. You seem to not realise that these people were PEOPLE, they met and fell in love, for a long time they bonded and shared intimate moments. They loved each other and SHE was clearly suffering with addiction. Your infantile mind might go "Ugh! Villain! VILLAIN!" but she was a fucking human being and HE was her husband. Imagine how painful it was seeing his wife struggling like that. Yes, things were strained between them and in her utter despair she killed him, but maybe he would have understood her anguish and her actions more than you popcorn-munching reprobates.

I used to work in psych/ substance abuse. They do have to have a psych evaluation when entering treatment for substance abuse. However it’s difficult to make a proper diagnosis until the substance abuse stops! Substance abuse is often interwoven with cluster B personality disorders so we will probably never really know- because she wasn’t clean long enough to be diagnosed.

My bio-mother has narcissistic borderline personality disorder. There is ZERO empathy. Everything is about her. If her "made up in her mind plans" don't go her way, it gets violent and abusive. Mind you, you have no idea about her "plans" but you better know. It's NUTS!!

It's so sad when a partner cannot uplift the other person in a relationship. Its beautiful when 2 people can find a bond and uplift each other as independent individuals. Being each other's biggest cheerleaders. I've experienced very similar characteristics in one of my past partners. They possessed a lot more violent anger that accompanied the envy, jealousy, and traits u went over when breaking down the cluster b complex which I never knew details off before. It's tough when you care deeply about someone who creates a toxic environment for the relationship. I really remember caring about the importance of always trying to prove how much I cared and how important they truly were by never letting their outbursts of inadequacy or antisocial anger make me give up, no matter how outlandish or over the top things got. I was convinced that if I stayed, I'd be the 1st person to show them they weren't going to leave, and hoping it would disarm their traumatic defense mechanisms and finally finding hope in someone but some issues just aren't the right time to be solved, or just not the other person's job to solve. These answers and healing has to come from within them and it's sad when a good thing gets broken from someone holding onto past traumas that are completely unrelated to the current situation or person. Regardless, I wish them peace and Contentment because that's all I ever wanted for them in the 1st place. Everyone deserves that in their life and no matter what your life is, we all hold the power to create our own Contentment within ourselves and our own minds and we control how we treat others, we all just wish to be treated well so put out that same energy and be patient because it does flow back your way, life may be bumpy but if you learn to find peace in moments of turbulence, you'll find it easier to get past the turbulence and get back to the peaceful times. It's almost a skill with how well one can individually deal with difficult times. If that skill is learned, one can find life a little lighter, more capable of handling whatever is thrown at them and so you learn to abstractly freestyle your life and constantly play off whatever life is tossing at you. Some of the best artists, comedians, philosophers, scientist's, inventors, athletes, and friends/partners learn this skill of adaptation.

There is something about this case I wish was discussed more, Domestic Abuse. Phil was a victim and as a man I imagine got little help and little understanding that you do not have to stay, you do not have to put up with being abused just because you are male. Or just because you have children with that person. Reminds me of the Johnny Depp case going on right now. All these years after Phil's death not much has changed especially in Hollywood.
