LOL Pardon, but I need to have one knee up to my chest, and one leg straight while sleeping on one side or the other; while I conform my down feather pillow to the perfect comfort (one arm goes under the pillow). Can Bob demonstrate? 😁

Thank you Bob and Brad. 4 years ago, I stuffered from sciatic pain and couldn't afford to be seen by a doctor. I looked up your videos and it saved me from so much pain. The pain returned one more time because of restrictive clothing, but I followed your advice and it's gone. I often to some of the stretches you have shown and it gives me relief. I'm so grateful for your service to people like me who can't have health services easily.

The best I've found is flat on my back, arms down at each side, palms down, fingers straight. Not too many pillows, gentle ramp, starting just above my shoulder blades. That lowest pillow is thin. The secret is a down feather pillow, very fluffy, that I smoosh around my head and under my neck, adjusting for that days aches. It stabilizes my head and neck. Nothing gets cramped or impinged in any way. I already know I'm going to wake up in a world of hurt from inflammatory arthritis most days. I don't need to add to it with poor body mechanics. Keep shifting and trying new ways until you find what suits your body the best. Also know that as your body changes, ages, and your weight changes you'll need to keep fine tuning for the greatest comfort and best sleep.

Thank you. I recently learned I have cervical stenosis and have so many problems sleeping. I wake up with shoulder pain, neck pain, numbness. I'm going to try these suggestions.

I always sleep on the side and i knew about the leg being higher and the tall pillow or pillows for the head. And i found solution for those. Didn't know about the pillow for the spine. Need to try that one

I use a body pillow as I am a side sleeper to rest between my knees and my top arm. So I still need a narrow pillow at the spine and I should have a really comfortable sleep! Thanks guys! I never wake up with neck or shoulder pain so perhaps my head pillow IS the right width.

I can only sleep on my stomach for about 5 minutes. But, sometimes it's great for a good stretch of your lower back. Been sleeping with a pillow between my knees for a while.

I have had shoulder/ neck pain for over 3 weeks now and I woke up this morning and felt even worse. I sleep in my sides a lot so could that be part of it?
Why hasn’t someone started a custom bed manufacturing company. Your car seat has 12-way adjustments, heat/cool, and massage. Why not your bed? We are almost to that point with recliners.

Sciatic nerve pain, both legs, I'm trying to sleep with pillow between my knees, I sleep on my side,
in my opinion the top leg resting over the under leg during a side sleep is healthy and natural because it mimics our natural gait patterns of having the front foot come into the center line infront of us and our back foot moves behind us with the heel turning outwards. so why would a position our natural gait encounters be a harmful sleep position? Also the spine doesnt have to be straight its meant to move in a spiral just like all of our joints, so whats wrong with having it bent one way for half your sleep and then rolling over to the other side for the other half of your sleep? seems like natural fascia release to me.

I wear a CPAP, so I can sleep face down with my head between two pillows, no strain, and I can still breathe.

I am a side sleeper. Right hip pain is bad . Also if hip pain when I am standing and start to walk. My leg seems to not go. And then hip to pain . What do I do ???
Sleep with a pillow between your knees. It will help you so much. It's a very easy, cheap and effective fix.
That was super helpful but I'm not sure Bob should let Brad have a big stick like that when he's lying down not protected 🙂

I’ve been sleeping in reclining chairs for years because of these problems. I always end up in one of those positions.
What do you di about horrible neighbours who literally keep me awake all night?
I have a fabulous mattress, birch living and saavta (spelling?) pillows, so that's good. Until I'm paying the for all night in stress from the constant noise.
Ear plugs my friend. Try different types to see what is comfy for you. Also look into a white noise machine or app. I think there are apps now. Some people say a small fan running can mask sound. As a last resort for truly horrible neighbors I call the police non emergency line. Sometimes they send community service officers, other times the guys with the guns. We've had some doozies behind us. Good luck.
@@renel7303 yeah... I've done all the above. Any white noise, fan etc cannot mask his booming voice. He talks for HOURS every night until 1-2 am. Earplugs only mask the white nose and amplify his very deep rumbling register . They don't care. i was nice at first. I will be calling police.

Fyi. The crisis line suggested I sleep in the dining room, DURING THE DAY. Seriously!? I need to sleep at nightin my own bedroom!!

Bob and Brad, I sleep on my back 🙈😂. I solced the matter with my lower back putting a pillow under my calves. But I got used to sleept with arms above. It hurts my toracal area by making my paravertebral muscles as hard as ciment. How to solve this one?! 🙈

@@iadorenewyork1 you know there is an uncomfy feeling unless you have a pillow to sustain the calves. That one is ok. But I don't seem to get used to keep my hands down. Sleeping with them upwards makes me wake up with horrific pain because of my muscles being in that position.

stop fear mongering people. most good rehab specialist I know say to just sleep however you want, and they are right, because : a) you will change your sleep position either way, so just start with the most comfortable way, because b), starting in an uncomfortable position can lead to sleep-deprivation which c) can lead to lower pain - tolerance and many other problems, directly connected to pain. Pain in the morning can have many reasons and pain does not mean damage.

Yeah somebody suggested that to sleep on my stomach and it doesn't feel very good on my lower back it actually is quite very very very painful. I have no idea why they consider stretching and this and that to relieve the pain it does not it actually increases my lower pain back pain to the point where it kind of feels like it's throwing out my back. The pain is so unbearable that it makes me want to throw up. And I've been to a chiropractor and they literally told me I need to go to a doctor and when I say what is going on it makes no sense I've already done Physical Therapy I've already done all of that I don't know what they're getting their information from I was hardly ever put on medications and all this Physical Therapy stuff that they whatever whoever suggests it's only makes it worse to the point where it actually will paralyze me at time's. It's all of that that's it's literally feels like bone on bone I cannot be overly extremely active I don't know how much overly for I can do stretching and physical therapy to where it doesn't do any help what do I do just keep enduring it and ball my eyes out the pain shoots to my right hip
