If you want to know what happens when a huge, powerful, born warrior with immense experience and training meets a smaller foe who trained but doesn’t have a natural inclination just recall Robert and Rhaegar. Rhaegar was good, he trained hard, he could probably take on most foes. But against a stronger man with talent as well as training he died. Same thing with Jaehaerys.

The two were bully types and got up to legitimately harmful things together (pranking a fool at a brothel) but ultimately his trial was about sex. This is not normally what happens with premarital sex - Braxton and Saera's four friends who were involved got to get married off (two to each other) and one got ten years of exile. Alysanne's female sworn shield Jonquil Darke held Saera down and forced her to watch Braxton die. IMO this cemented her later decision to run away and cut contact. So while it may show good combat skills, it was a horrific event where he was essentially a 'touch my daughter and I'll shoot you' dad

Still murky though because the proclaimed heir was not the eldest child when he was born nor when he died. Visy’s father was named heir and in a perfect world he lives and becomes king making Visy the heir in a way that didn’t require a counsel. Raenys’ marriage is what hurt her claim as her children were not Targs. That made it easier for her to be passed over even though she was the eldest child of Visy’s uncle Aemon
