Any dragon up to syrax can kill vhagar. Just some have very little chance and would need smart tactics. Without tactics or specific maneuvre, I think only vermithor could beat her.

Meleys 100% could have won her fight. She won the clash when they locked talons in the air and vhagar slammed into the ground. She should have just flown back up high in the sky ang repeatedly use her superior agility and her large enough size to keep slamming vhagar down. But noooooo she flew down really close to the ground in a cloud of smoke, letting vhagar, a big ass dragon, literally the biggest and least agile dragon alive, to hide the smoke and wait in ambush. Watching the fight annoyed me since she died in such a dumb way. WHY ARE YOU IN THE CLOUD OF SMOKE AND FLYING SO LOW!? Honestly her death felt forced with how they did it. Yeah she died in the books, but at least make it not make her look dumb

To me it also felt a bit like envy and pettiness. Rhaenys didn't want to do all the work for Rhaenyra and deliver her the throne on a silver plate, while she had been denied although she fought for it during the Great Council🤷🏽‍♀️but considering the scene in s2 where Rhaenys didn't flee from Vhagar, when she could, this dramatic entry makes even less sense than it did in s1. It's just another girlboss moment with no real consequence or value for the plot just as Baela chasing Criston and Gwayne in s2 without burning them.
