it's a much better story in the show. For the books the only good thing at all for having this story in it is to show that husbands can't inherit. They rule about the lands of their wife but the children are inheriting the lands. In other words. Daemon can't become King just by being the husband of Rhaenyra. It will either be her children or the other children of her father. The entire line of Rhaenyra's father first has to die out before he could become King.
