I love your videos. I am currently rewatching the Plata/Sanabrés video. I have completed seven Caminos and have kept this one for my 75th year. I find your filming and observations to be extremely useful. I fly into Seville on 29th April and will start walking 1st May.
Thank you for this wonderful film that I really enjoyed. I went the Via de la Plata in spring of 2017. And it was great to go on this fantastic trip together with you again and remember the journey.
I walked this in 2019 April 23 to June 3...and again in spirit with you now..ours was not so hot. This was such an emotional memory...thank you Chris..seeing the same landmarks and all the memories xx
I've seen all your video's! You are a great motivator... and a wise man. Since, and even before the covid pandemic, I felt the need to disconnect myself from the social media, the daily news, and I did. In stead of watching tv, I went outside, I found myself in nature, meditation and hiking. I'm more at peace and within a year my husband and I are going to walk the camino portugues. To celebrate life . Thank you for your beautyfull video's, your advice and your wise lessons
Hour after hour I have been walking on my treadmill, through 2 years of Covid, dreaming and training. Your videos -- all of them -- repeatedly -- have been great inspirations. Perhaps we need a new Saint Chris medal. :) My deepest thanks for your work and your spirit through it all.
Great, moving film by a pilgrim-philosopher with such a wise approach to what the camino really means to the pilgrim’s soul. I’ll be walking the Sanabres from Zamora in a few days and Will certainly recall your words!
Thank you for posting this. It is an excellent film, I can see why it was nominated for an award. Anyone thinking of walking this route should watch this, it gives a great insight into what to expect. I walked the Via de la Plata/Sanabres in 2017, though I started in April. And I thought it was hot then! Well done Chris! Buen Camino Davey Boyd
If I would identify myself with attitude, it will be you're amazing Attitude and wiseness I'd adopt and add to my own life treasure. you are a Great example, thank you for your Calmness and the knowledge you've shared with us.
Wonderful. Thank you Chris. I really enjoyed watching this video. To all of you planning to walk this Camino ( as we are in the next months): Buen Camino ❤!!
Somehow, I love Itálica, the tile mosaics of the ruins, and of course the amphitheatre. I imagined the brave gladiators facing a challenge each time the gate rose to release the roaring beast(s) into the ring. Santiponce, a mere village, seems nondescript next to the ancient Roman settlement. Great historic site overlooked by my Valencian neighbor on her trip to Sevilla. TY for featuring it on the Via de la Plata. 🇪🇸
Such a beautiful video, thank you very much Chris. I walked most of it last year but I will walk again this year from Merida to Benavente. This is the best Camino of them all.
Hi Chris, my nieces and I met you on El Camino Norte a couple of years ago. I think you were walking with an Italiano who was just a jolly guy. He had such a great fun look on life. I'm thinking of walking Via de Plata in Sept 2021, that is if travel restrictions are lifted for the US and the COVID-19 reduces. Thank you for sharing your experience. Many blessings Antonieta from San Francisco Bay Area CA
I did northern route in 24 days and God there were days in which I considered quitting, thanks to our Lord I successfully reached Santiago on a 28th of april 2017, loved your film, Buen camino My pelgrim fellow
Chris, you have spent a lot of time trying to figure out if you are a 'walker' or a 'pilgrim'. As I think you are from Poland, I absolutely respect your view on this as a good Catholic, and a believer in God. Aged 74 now, I have all alone walked the Camino Portuguese (Litoral Route) in 2018, and last year the gruelling Camino del Norte. If someone asked me 'why did you do such a crazy thing'?, I have one simple answer 'because it's there, and because I can'. In other terms, as I am lucky enough with my health, why not try and accomplish such a marvellous individual achievement? if the health continues, this year I am walking the Rota Vincentina in May and later on in June the Ingles and Finisterre/Muxia circuit. Next year, I am going to try the Via de la Plata. Your great video has helped no end. I think the best time to start will be early May.
@@estellagutierrez795 Loved the videos and learned so much. I am 59 and hope to do my first camino in September 2020. I am from Montreal Canada and also like being alone. But a history lesson with Chris would be so fun. Stay safe!!!
Thank you very much for this amazing record of your monumental achievement! I have enjoyed seeing how beautiful the landscape and historic monuments on this Camino are.
We walked the Via de la Plata in August-October last year. 1007km. Takes a lot of mental fortitude to get up at 0500 every day and walk for 8 weeks. Some long near 40km stages too. We had temperatures in the early 40s in Extremadura which was hard work. Saw around 20 pilgrims the entire walk. As far removed from the French Way as you can get!
I walked the last section of the Via de la Plata (from Ourense to Santiago) in September. The terrain was a little rougher and the heat still stronger than I had expected within Galicia. I was later told the Ourense region is the second warmest part of this route after Seville by a spanish Camino guide. The local people, while they spoke little if any English unless they worked in hotels, were very friendly and helpful. I knew intermediate written Spanish, but my listening skills were limited to spoken Spanish. I developed heat blisters on my left arm despite using factor 50 sun cream, although perhaps I should have applied it three times a day, not just twice. I can only imagine what the earlier stages of this Camino route are like. I'm glad that I experienced this part of the Camino, though I'm not sure I'll return to the Via de la Plata.
Bom Caminho👣
Thank you for this video. I will be walking exactly the same route to arrive in Santiago on Friday July 23 2021, the Holy Week-end. I will thus walk during the hottest time of year. I hope there will be no heatwave in 2021. Keeping fingers crossed.
Hi Chris. I'am happy that I found your youtube videos. It was a pleasure to meet you on the Mozarabe Camino. Badly, my english is not very good but you made me a very good impression. You are a camino lover and a great person. Thanks again. Denis from Québec Canada
Love you're waffling Rob. Beautiful countryside. Need to get some experience in before i attempt the VLDP start in May 25 please keep the videos coming learning so much off you buen camino ✨️
Thanks for taking the time to teach your viewers so much about the Vía de la Plata while completing this amazing feat of endurance. I would really like to know how many *extra* miles you walked as a result of setting up and retrieving the camera, lol!
I really enjoyed all of your videos and have watched them more than once! I know you have done another camino since your bout with cancer but I do hope and pray you are on the mend now. I was wondering if you feel you would attempt another camino now or do you feel Via de la Plata would be your last. Whatever you choose just be well and enjoy life. Buen Camino to you from Toronto, Canada!!!!
Loved your video Chris. I'm planning to walk the VdlP for my 4th Camino. Pack all ready to go. Maybe in 2022 if restrictions allow. Who knows. Well done, amazing effort in the Summer! I won't be walking in the Summer, I'm not that brave 🙂
Amazing walk, I've lived in Alentejo and know about the heat :). I was just thinking that this camino should be walked at night, not? Like in the Sahara people orienting on the stars while travelling. Anyway god speed to anyone making this in the day times.
Your wonderful video has captured my imagination. I have walked the Frances in 2007 and had planned to do it again as soon as the pandemic allows. Now though I intend to walk in your tracks from Seville.
Excellent informative video Chris, thank you. I'm planning to walk in the fall (Sept) 2021 should restrictions allow, could start off a little hot but should cool down as I progress. If not April 2022 looks just the next best options. Again thank you for your insights into Camino.
I realize the heat is extreme on this route. It is possible to do the walking by night and resting by day hours, as old Arabs used to cross the desert? At least, by the more dry and non interesting zones.
I hate to report this, your "youtube" channel only shows 7 videos on your channel. This all, after I've watches every other 20+ videos on your channel about your journeys which I'm planning myself. I hope you continue....
Chris, some stats for you after this amazing achievement. Total number of steps assuming , like most males, you average step is about .7 metres......1,000+ kilometres walked = 1,000,000 metres / .7 = 1.4 million steps! Factoring in smaller steps for uphill and downhill stretches, that's over 1.6 million steps! Total calories burned.......normal burn per kilometre is 85 calories, but in that heat, and carrying 10-12 kilos it must be well over 100 per klt. So 1,000 x 100 = 100,000 calories......you should have lost weight!.... a lot!
U walk way to fast for me old man! (I'm 72) jejejejeje......P'alante siempre......P'atras ni para cojer impulso ....(always forward.....backwards, not even to gain momentum....!!!!!)
watch this now the second time, i hope you did not take the fake vaccine and are healthy again after your bout with cancer if i am remembering correctly. all the best and greetings from the eastern sea
You are a super human for being able to push through that horrendous heat. Thank you for sharing your incredible adventure with us.
Many many thanks. Without doubt the most enjoyable video I've watched of any pilgrimage video I've yet to find.
I thought it was beautifully made! Two very smart girls, indeed!!

Beautiful documentary. I am watching it as I train to do the Camino after Covid. Greetings from L.A. Buen Camino!!
Despite the recent explosion of Via de la Plata videos, this still stands head and shoulders above the rest.
Great, moving film by a pilgrim-philosopher with such a wise approach to what the camino really means to the pilgrim’s soul. I’ll be walking the Sanabres from Zamora in a few days and Will certainly recall your words!
A very beautiful, challenging and soul-searching journey. Congratulations on your wonderful achievement!

Hi Chris, Thank you for posting your two Camino-videos. Very inspiring! Hope your health is still improving. Keep strong. Best regards.
Congratulations on this journey. I can't imagine the heat and loneliness you went thru for about half of the journey....I would have quit!
Maravilloso camino. Gracias

This is exciting. Thank you for this video. I am considering it instead of Camino Frances... I like contemplation and not the crowds.
I’m planning on this one first too. This or Norte
Sounds great! Via de la Plata is my favorite.
Lovely presentation , so glad to hear you're recovering .... may the road rise to meet you
Thank you kindly.
Awesome Chris, hope you are fine, waiting you soon here in Spain when finish the COVID pandemia
Thank you for making it posible for me to see this in my region it was gone and now it is back
The names of many towns you passed are long and hard to be memorized as like it's length of the route compared with other camino. Wonderful film!
Hermoso documental, me encantó.

Yes, I am doing well and on the lookout for another Camino this year in August.
Greetings from Madrid!!
Thankyou lovely video
As with them all, it made me smile and kept hold of me till the end. As they say, "we play the 90 minutes and whatever the referee adds on." YNWA.
How easy is it to camp on this route?
Dear Chris, how are you? How are you feeling? Are you planning another Camino? 💐💐💐
Yes, as soon coronavirus restriction will be removed.
I realize the heat is extreme on this route. It is possible to do the walking by night and resting by day hours, as old Arabs used to cross the desert? At least, by the more dry and non interesting zones.
