I want to see this in a show as a prequel to everything
a movie will be better
Idk..part of the intrigue of Valyria is that we know next to nothing about it. I feel like if they tried to adapt it, that mystery would be lost and so would the fascination with what was going on there
@@Rhaenano a series about someone visiting old Valyria and surviving would be great
@@Blood-zz2ktWould probably need to skip a few hundred years into the future for that to be possible
our imaginaintion is far more better than anything a tv show or movie can come up with. a valaerya perqual would just be rings of power..which wasn't good
I want to know so badly what happened to Valyria but I know that never knowing for sure is really what makes it so alluring
Valyria is just yoda from Star Wars
Yeah I don’t know about that weird yoda comment, but I also wanna know what happened to Valyria. And also Asshai and the creepiest city of all Stygai
Fire wyrms
One of the common theories if I remember it right is that the slaves started it and these slaves became the Faceless Men.
@@crimsonite09 it is possible that the faceless men destabilised the volcanoes as a revenge, but it is just a theory. It’s also possible that Valyrians simply dig too deep, both literally and figuratively.
So valyria was basically ancient rome, with the 40 ruling clans being the 40 patrician families of rome. The targaryens were low to middle class of the patricians, above the commoners but inferior in wealth and status to the powerful families like julio-claudians. We only know one other dragon clan, the belarys family. Ironic that the side stories are more interesting than the stuff going on in westeros
I think Essos generally is super interesting! I think GRRM has the same problem. Everything is more interesting than what is currently going on in Westeros 😅
48 families
Not really, they were definitely high class almost godlike. All dragonlords are. They just weren't the most numerous hence their lesser power and influence.
@@yoshilorak5897 Nope, they were only dragon lords on paper, but they had no real power or knowledge of things. The targaryens were essentially lesser nobility. Valyria had a 1000 dragons as stated by the valyria nerd viserys, yet the targaryens only owned 5 when they left valyria, that itself is quite telling. And the fact that targaryens had no knowledge of valyrian steel making, valyrian fused stone architecture, valyrian sorcery, valyrian glass candles, or even the basic knowledge of breeding dragons aka not shoving them in little cells. Godly is the title reserved for actual powerful families that held these knowledge and dozens of dragons, like the belaerys family, whose rider jaenara and her dragon terrax explored sothorys.
Valyrians had not objection in breeding with other groups as you can see in the free cities. They just didn't marry with them to keep their bloodlines pure and that mostly applied to dragonlords not the normal valyrian population. Its seems to be that the largest ethnicity in western essos is essari valyrian, so valyrian mixed with one of the local ethnicities.
A lot of the dragonlords were in lys and their dragons were killed in a revolt after the doom happened.
This suggests that it was planned
Wasn't it just a couple?
Oh perhaps the Doom was magical in nature and the dragons closest to Valyria in the Free Cities died or become sickly whilst the Targaryen dragons were spared due to being in westeros
@@archmaester6594or they just didn’t choke to death on smoke and get hit with falling debris
They ARE WHITE... DEAL WITH IT YOU MOOK
I love the theory that the faceless men caused the doom
The fact that targeryeans weren't even the top clans there they were like lower-middle class even with dragons so what the upper classes would have been
Pretty much the same, maybe with more dragons. To my knowledge the difference is that they knew the magic and technology that was lost in the doom. Targeryans had dragons but they didn’t know how to make valeryan steel or do powerful blood and fire magic.
They definitely were upper class, they just had less power due to their few numbers.
@@yoshilorak5897 one of the few things known as fact it that they were a minor house among the tother 40 dragonlords. The power of the 2 top families is not known for sure though. It's possible they weren't even dragonriders but masters of biding spells able to control all other dragons and makers of Euron's allegedly Dragon Binder.
@@bronzelimac did they also make dragons by magic ? Which is why their dragons are much bigger and the numbers are way more
Nobody knows what exactly caused the Doom, it happened too fast with no one surviving to tell the tale, but I can guess. The Dragonlords took the magics for granted, and in their arrogance played with forces that should not have been handled carelessly, and it literally blew up in their faces.
Like most wealthy powerful ppl
The heat from the volcanos destroyed everything around and it rained dragonglass. Winterfell has geysers, which are generally near active volcanos. Maybe the faceless people chose Arya for a reason.
"My house survive the DOOM"
Say it😈💀
"And a thousand tribulations besides it!"
"My house turned tail and fled quickly instead of staying and trying to help as many of the people as possible"
@@julianogodoy964racially motivated 💀wouldn’t say this if it were the targaryens
@@MonroeAndersonlmao
Faceless men for sure killed the pyromancers keeping the volcanoes in check or a rival too the throne thinking it would couse chaos not the doom of valyria
No grest conspiracy just volcanoes and earthquake.
The iron throne did not exist before the doom
@@Anthony_Gxdid he mention that it was the Iron Throne who did it? No he didnt..... by rival tk the throne, he obviously means a rival to the Valyrian Throne/Empire.
High valyrian is like Latin. The language was propaged through a continent via an expending empire then merge with the local dialects to make new languages with a common origin
Purple eyes? Yup, they were definitely tampering with the dark powers of Chaos. The Doom was on purpose to stop it.
Old Valyria is literally a prequel that sells itself.
I always thought it would have been a combination of to many crazy magical experiments and faceless man sabotage.
How did it happen that ALL of Valyria's dragons except the Targaryen ones, who were on Dragonstone, were found within Valyria itself? Why weren't any outside of it, used as a tool for keeping other conquered lands? Valyria wasn't just a peninsula, they had an entire empire.
Some other dragon lords survived the doom together with their dragons. Unfortunately due to the uprest that occurred after the doom, as well as countless rebellions, assassinations, etc. the few that survived died. There was e.g. one dragonlord, who assembled an army within Essos and tried to reclaim his ancestral home as the new king of Valyria, he went there together with his dragon and army and then was never seen again. Others resided in Lys, where they were killed by locals during some civil unrest and the panic that occurred. But it's still suspicious and also illogical how barely any of the other dragon families didn't survive the doom, considering the size of the whole empire and the huge numbers of dragon riders.
The Celtigars don't even have the silver hair and purple eyes like the Velaryons and Targaryens.
House targaryen created a new empire with valerian descendant houses
House valeryon
House celtigar
House baratheon
House quharyes
House longwaters
House Blackfyre
@@sophiawilson8696They were Targaryens, just not legitimately born.
I would love a book, art book history book and show About Old Valyria!
So if the doom of Valeria was simultaneously 13 volcanoes going off due to magic from, potentially but not explicitly, red priests then why is there an implication of radioactive fallout there? In fact, there are a few places in Essos that seem to have radioactive fallout playing a part in their story
it would be interesting if "doom" was used how Tolkien used it, a kind of pronouncement of fate by the Varda.
I would’ve loved to see a show about this city & the doomed that happens.
A fanfic I have planned focuses on a small population of dragon riders who fled hours before the doom struck. Assuming the causes was all the volcanoes erupting at once, there would have been precursing earthquakes that suggested the tragedy to come (like Pompeii/Mount Vesuvius). The group of people I focus on are ~100 people (several branches of a noble house + their servants, they wanted to save as many ppl as possible) who fled to an uncharted island beyond the summer sea.
It would have had to have been something interesting to have wiped out all the remaining dragons and Targaryens because as Daenerys said when Viserys was deleted, "Fire cannot kill a dragon."
That's a really good point, the volcano wouldn't have killed most of them
Dany doesn’t fully even know what she’s talking about 😂😂
mannn I'm a quarter way through the first book and watching this,, but lore like this is so intriguing to me despite not being up to date with the books. It's like how i started watching the newest installment of the got universe,, EVEN THOUGH IM IN SEASON 3 OF GOT.
The doom would make for a great John Martin painting
don't forget their pale skin, like freaking elves…
Incest did not bother you, just not having pale skin did? Think about what you typed.
@@Mr50403Lol, does being accurate to the books and not following woke pandering bother you? Cause it sure seems like it does
@@arunakoyanbron8927 Hold up. The color bothered you more than the incest? They never said what Corlys Mom looked like. But the incest did not bother you. Think about that.
@@Mr50403lmao the self proclaimed moral posturing, I can't 😂😂☠️
@@TheodoraMessalina For real, if these people want 'diversity' so bad, then they should write their own shows, not ruin existing good works with their nonsense like the way did with Tolkien's work which was explicitly european mytholog. Just like how valyria is a pale skinned, silver haired, purple eyed geriatric nuclear flying lizard owning super blood obsessed civilization who would rather go mad of inbreeding than marry outside their race 🙄
There could still be some people who share blood with Valyrians close to the Empire itself, like Volantis.
Yet HBO made them black 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yea and it ruins the plot with Rhaenyra's children, which is much better done in the book.
We don't know Lord Corlys mother, so they could use that loophole and say she was from the summer islands. That would also fix the other problems with the family tree. Because then only Lord Corlys and his siblings would be black Velaryons. 🤔
question if a woman marry a male from Spain and name of male Sanchez, their children are name Sanchez. What are they are ethnicity?. That how it happened 🐦 and 🐝 learn it.
@danika9411 lmao.. yea you can just say you're get, idk why you typed so much 🤣..
GRRM himself said they made it up
@@danika9411 No because Laenor is white and his mother has brown hair. So its totaly plausible that he is the real father and book Corlys never doubts that neither does Viserys
It’s heavily implied in the books that the faceless men just killed so many slave masters who were casting spells to keep the volcanos from erupting that the volcanoes just did old Valyria in. I doubt we’ll ever get a definitive answer unless it plays more into the faceless men’s dragon killing boner.
The doom sounded alot like a magical nuke and fallout to me- kinda like in eragon on the island the dragon riders used to rule
Didn't they also have demons and or fire worms or something? When the doom happened in Valyria?
This should've been a prequel.
I think in the books, since Dany is nowhere near taking ship to Westeros, it will somehow turn her head to the near her Valyria, the born place of her family line, and she will go there with Drogon. Since she is the only one we know that can survive real fire maybe she may be able to enter Valyria despite the deathly fog there. And maybe she will reveal a huge secret, like dragons origins or s.th. like that
but she can't survive real fire. she's not fire proof
and no, her surviving the bon fire doesn't count. that was magic happening there
Danaerys isnt fire proof, she gets burnt in Mereen. The Fireproof thing is only one off event that happened. Also shes most likely to head to Ashai by the Shadows rather than Valyria since no one can survive there with the boiling seas and smoke and ash covering the entire peninsula
@@MR.ZAYI1991didn’t she grab something on fire and her maid commented on how nothing happened
@dieusonmalcomson7335 she took a bath in hot water. Valyrians are more resistant to heat but not fireproof per George R.R. Martin's own word and the evidence we have from the books.
@@MR.ZAYI1991 but didn’t she grab a burning egg and her hand maid commented how nothing happened. I think i remember reading that in one of the first two books tbh
If they interpreted with non Valyrians or people who don't possess Arcane genetics, then it would be referred to as alloying.
Targaryens should a New Valyria. They'd be a global superpower in westeros and essos surpassing the old. 😅
Only valyrian dragonrider families practiced incest. Not all valyrian were dragonriders, only a few families.
I think Valyria was not like Rome but more like Pompeii. You know, the City that got doomed by a vulcano named Vesuv? 😅
5000 years old Empire!
Empire of the dawn is 100 % azor hai’s empire he started after all the incest 😂
You know no one goes to Valeria anymore right
So we can't tell if they are truly all gone or just rebuilding
How often do you think about Old Valyria 🤔
So it became hell.
Kings landing is constantinople 😂😂😂
we need to have a tv series about the Valyria
And the Qooherys Family? It's a Valiryan family too
Honestly love GoT but the more I learn about the Targaryens the more I like HoD more 😂
Can I know the music used in these videos please?
Bring it back
Why did the dragons not fly away when the volcanos erupted in old valaria
So Valerya is like our times Pompeiii.. I know G.R.R.M writes with real history that happened here long time ago (history buff?) lol like me... And i know that he based a lot of his characters on ppl and kings that lived before. 😊😊
What caused the doom?
My guess is that the faceless men killed the mages that were keeping the volcanoes from erupting.
Or threw dragon eggs inside them.
Or many a dance of dragons happen due to succession
Super volcano went boom
Balrog
Why does the dude at the end have a lightsaber?
Theyre nothing without dragons, thats why i have more respect towards Westeros houses
Does Vaylria remind you of Pompeii?
I love the house Valereon sigil…
How did the doom not cause a tsunami?
Did you know???
Rome and Atlantis
More like Pompeii
Some one explain me difference between valyria n Targaryen
Valyria was the empire and their race was valyrian, targaryens were just one valyrian family who had dragons, they were actually a minor family compared to others
Thinking magic caused the doom???
Why do these narrators always pronounce VELARYON as VELARYAN? or worst, VALYRIAN💀
Valaaaaryeom
Who is house Valyrion? 😂
I really wish the writer would move away from incest. Like yes we get it, that used to be really popular among the nobility. But thankfully science how problematic it really is for everyone involved
thats the point. they don't have that scientifc knoweldge
They ride dragon and perform blood magic and have been practicing incest for 5000 years with no issues as far as we know. The Targaryens only started to suffer when Baelor the Blessed got rid of all Valyrian books that he considered heretical to the Faith of Seven. Not to mention that Durrandons and the Baratheons always have blue eyes and black hair. Even when marrying Valyrians they either get the black hair or blue eyes. So its safe to say genetics dont work the same in this world where there is dragons and sorcerers and snow fey and zombies 😂😂
true but they didn't know that then Egyptians Pharaoh use to the same thing breed with own family members.
I love how he uses a picture of Idril and Tuor from the Silmarillion in this video about GoT universe.
Background music?
Valyria is Atlantis. Kings Landing is Rome
Constantinople
Its just Numenor but worse.
