- In a first look at the Batman Arkham Trilogy Switch port's of the Arkham games, I take the most demanding in Arkham Knight. Just how bad is it and can it even be patched? Bruce may have more than just a Bat in his belfry this time.

Watch in 4K/60 for the best experience. - Ігри
Am I the only one who finds hilarious seeing the bat-signal texture all jagged and awful-looking?
Finally a review of the actual Switch games and not just a comparison video with other consoles. Thanks!
Great review and analysis 👏
Arkham knight is a quite good game on the PS4. Unfortunately I think we’ll never see an update to make it 4k@60 on the PS5
It's amazing on pc now. Runs 4k60 without much trouble
Batman runs on Ultra setting on PC Handhelds.
I used to hate Arkham Knight as I felt the influence of nearly every common complain at the time (Batmobile and predictable antagonist reveal) and joined the bandwagon like everyone else until I was going trough a rough patch in my life in 2018, replayed it and realized maybe that's the point of the game-- Batman gets hammered physically and mentally but he never breaks, never complains and that car isn't a burden, it's an extension of his indomitable willpower, you just can't break him no matter what you do, and the Arkham Knight character while equal in skill, has none of those qualities. I took that as the lesson of the game and it became one of my fav games ever. As for the Switch port, WB should have held this back until the Switch successor. Just pull this for sale like they did with the PC port as there's no way this is doing an already misunderstood game any justice.
The batmobile is insanely fun. People just suck at driving.
Whining about the batmobile is like whining about the lack of an easy mode in elden ring. It's pathetic
Glad you've come to love the game. You bring up good points about how strong Batman's mind and willpower is, he really is one of the strongest humans ever. I had a similar experience the first time I played Arkham Knight. I got it on a free weekend so I could only play it for a few days. I rushed through the story so I could finish it before the free weekend ended. I was a bit disappointed and didn't really enjoy my time with it because I didn't take the time to appreciate my experience. When I finally bought it later, I ended up taking everything in and started enjoying the game for what it was. It's no where near perfect but it's my favorite superhero game ever despite its flaws.
@@HugoStiglitz88ONG, Ive never understood why the hell people hated it so much since the start, and when I got to play it for the first time last year I was even more confused.
The controls are good, the batmobile call move is perfect, everything is overall really intuitive, the only thing that lacks a bit is that you have to hold the trigger to enter battle mode, but thats it, even the riddler trophies were fun to get with it
Hey Michael, great breakdown! I don't think the motion blur is retained, though 🤔 I was freeze-framing and couldn't see any.
Gordon says it all in the intro, this is how Bugman died aka unplayable on Switch
They could come out with a patch on the Nintendo switch. I still think it is an absolute triumph that they got Arkham Knight on Nintendo Switch, I give them kudos for trying. Never know though, a patch could come. Very early on in the release.
If they get it running fluidly that would be insane.
Mate Warner Brothers Games Interactive Entertainment has literally outlined "WB Games can terminate Batman Arkham Trilogy at any moment without giving notice" on their own website
Sounds more to me like they are preparing to move on from it if its too much hassle to even bother fixing it
Had to drop a like after twenty seconds for being a 2000AD and Dredd fan.
Yes sir, we are many.
Man I was looking forward to this trilogy! Do you think any future patches could make Arkham Knight somewhat more stable or is it just doomed to be like this on Switch no matter what?
Looks like it's bandwidth limited, so probably not. WB can definitely get Asylum and City running at 30 fps (they were PS360 games after all) but the memory speed on the switch is too slow to do the batmobile sequences.
I wish they'd just give the option to turn the fucking rain off. Hire me to be your boss, rocksteady!
@@danebramage04i was thinking at that also.anyway rain on switch is not giving same atmosphete as on ps4.
@@danebramage04 maybe not turn it off but make it more uhhh static?? not as performance intense?? remove some of that shit or something 😭
I would love to see a Sony studio do 2000AD or Judge Dredd!!! like Insomniac!!!! Heck Bane!! could be a Goldenaxe or something like that lol
A dark and gritty take on Dredd Naughty Dog could do it justice, Insomniac Games would also be a good choice or even Bend Studios could surprise us with their take on it
Brilliant you compared it to the best console version unlike Digital Foundry
You were way too kind with the visuals of this port lol.
i wonder if they could simply start changing the graphic style of bigger games for better fps
"Asylum is likely the least loved now" - Um, Origins and Knight are both VERY divisive, Asylum is generally considered a great game.
No, city is the worst one. The rest are great
Knight is only divisive because of the massive skill issues many gamers have when it comes to driving lol its their own fault
City is the most beloved of the entire series Hugo, I dunno where you get that idea from@@HugoStiglitz88
@@HugoStiglitz88city being the worst one is an extremely hot take, pretty sure the majority of players have city as their favorite. You’re honestly the first person I’ve ever seen say city is the worst of the 4
that looks nasty
A rare instance where DF and NX gamer release a video on the same game on the same day
Meanwhile Batman Arkham Knight runs on Ultra settings on PC Handhelds like Lenovo Legion Go and Asus Rog Ally.
This trilogy on Switch is what I imagine Ebola feels like.
Nintendo really need to upgrade
The game looks amazing on my RTX 4090 and RX 7900 XTX NITRO+
My 6090 is better.
@@DeadPhoenix86DP I get 69 FPS with my Riva TNT.
I can max it out on my overclocked 3DFX Voodoo.
I could play it at practically max on my GTX 1060 and i7-7700hq. You cannot play the game with two separate GPUs from two different vendors at the same time
It looks amazing even on a 3070 and i5-13600k. 4k60 fps ultra settings.
Hey @nxgamer ,any chance of you doing a GTA6 analysis, thanks❤
Is this game Playstation and Switch Exclusive?
No it's on Xbox One
This game is on all platforms, PC and pretty much every console going back to the 7th gen (for the first two games)
Ive seen some people say its playable. Lol at stretching the definition of "playable"
It's like how many games on PS3 and 360 performed
It is perfectly playable though. The average gamer (without advanced analysis tech) would be fine with the first 2 games at least. It's just entitled Gen Z who go along with pixel counting that give true gamers a bad name
It is playable tho. Have you never owned a portable? This isn't a big screen TV where below 30 fps is painful. On a 7in screen it's not a big deal at all. Frankly low res is a bigger problem on small screens
@@MorrisseyMuseFACTS
I love nxg and digital foundry but it also sucks its only given more things for gamers to whine about. Nobody was saying all games need to be 60 fps in the ps3 Era. Those games were usually below 30 fps let alone 60. We just played games and didnt worry about framerate.
Now those same clowns say shit like "I can't play 30 fps games". Mofo, you did it for several years. A few 60 fps didn't alter your brain! 😂😂 you're just choosing to be a 🐈
Arkham knight is not low res. its 540p with some low quality textures and no AA. so thats not pretty but honestly its totally playable.
It looks way better than the witcher 3 on my oled.
Ive played 3-4 hours to check how it runs. i will definitely go bck to it after I finished asylum and city.
This trilogy is a much have for any switch owners.
I don't understand why asylum is not 30fps locked but city runs great. Ive seen terrible ports on switch (ni no kuni 2, bloodstained, ninja gaiden, ys 8-9, ...) and this one is far above them and totally playable.
I would agree with DF on this one that even the still image art direction in AK has been compromised too far. It's a terrible product, and it shouldn't have been released. It seems surprising to me that Switch owners have that system to play this kind of big release meant for heavy consoles-- that ain't Nintendo's thing and that should be obvious by now.
Yea Batman sells, but if that means shipping a shoddy product then let it go and save the reputation. It ain't helping Nintendo's image as a joke console that only sells kiddy games. Frankly I agree with that assessment to limited extent, but they certainly release some polished products and those Zelda RPGs are clearly great games (though I can't help but suspect overrated). Plus there's actually nothing wrong with aiming at a more family audience.
It's the type of thing I use my switch for but I avoid the bad ports. Even witcher 3 which is supposedly good just isn't quite good enough imo but a lot of ps3 Era games and some ps4 Era end up being awesome on switch and some of nintendos exclusives as well
I'm not running out of anything to play on switch anytime soon.
I’d rather play this on my Portal via PS5 while away from home. 💪🏻
1080p,30fps with lag,no thanks
you will get worse input lag with the portal than the switch
I'd rather play it on my Steam deck or if I had, an ROG Ally. Both of these will easily surpass the PS Portal
@@crestofhonor2349lol you spend more time optimising games than actually playing them on the Deck
@@aloyofnora3224why so insecure?
This is really just a review of the Knight, we already know it sucks, please give us more detail on the first 2 games! lol
I disagree with your assessment of this game I’m about 70% through Arkham Knight and enjoying my play through Arkham Knight . So the game lags alittle and is choppy but is far from unplayable is very much playable. This game isn’t perfect but you and other reviewers need to stop comparing the switch to other consoles. Stop comparing games that were on other consoles when ported over to the switch and making comparison to them. The switch is on a different level and has killed it since coming out in 2017. Not every game is going to run the same as did on PlayStation or Xbox as it does on the Switch so stop with comparing it to Sony and Microsoft.
Does it come with the Batgirl DLC?
@@Misty25939it comes with all dlc
@@Misty25939 yes it comes with all the dlc
@@TheFearedStorm Noice!
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Arkham Knight is a beautiful game and all that beauty is lost on Switch. It looks absolutely atrocious and that performance 🤢
Lol it still looks good
I'm not seeing that. Maybe I need to see it in person but frankly it looks OK on youtube
well, anyone who never got to play arkham knight and only played asylum, city and origins will say "Eh. Good enough."
@@airtiger4577 I've played the ps4 version of Knight and even then, I say "Eh. Good enough."
@@Misty25939 thank you
What are you talking about? It's an absolutely terrible port. It looks absolutely dreadful and performance is disgraceful.
Why does every reviewer just focus on arkham knight? we get it, it sucks. Lets hear more about the first 2 games please. If arkham asylum and city are still playable and fun in any way, I want to hear about that
DF did both City and Asylum and those games have some frame rate issues as well
@@crestofhonor2349no they dont. Been playing them on my oled and they look amazing for a switch port and no fps issues
So true! The issues with the first 2 games are far less from all I've read/watched so far. Just buy them for now and wait for the Switch 2 backwards compatibility next year to sort out Knight :)
@@MorrisseyMuse You HAVE TO buy the collection as a whole though. They don't sell them individually yet.
This guy is lying, terrible ports
It ain't perfect, but still playable and another outstanding technical feat on the Switch!
No
Said no one after watching this video. More like "outstanding technical 💩💩💩"
Gamers these days are spoiled rotten by graphics. I grew up in the 90's so I can tolerate performance like this. I remember playing Twisted Metal 4 and thought even a steady 20-something fps was amazing. lol Arkham Knight's performance is buttery smooth compared to the worst that I've been through. And with all the complaints, they'll probably lower the price of the collection sooner than later so I'll buy this at a better deal. It's win-win!
Nearly every single video on this
“Arkham TRILOGY review”
Only really mentions one game and then calls the trilogy bad.. 🤦♂️
