In answer to your question, I think Blooded make a good proxy team for ‘Nids. Use a Tyranid Warrior as the Ogryn. Termagant with Spike Rifle for the Sharpshooter, one with a Shardlauncher for the Gunner with Grenade Launcher, one with the Strangleweb for the Melta or Plasma, one with spine fists for the Trench Sweeper, Hormagaunts for the Butcher & Flenser. Have a Genestealer handy in case you want to run the Enforcer. Blooded tokens & just call Eye of the Gods to Eye of the Hivemind.
@GlassHalfDead I just put a Warrior head on the leader and gave other weapons to the specialists as well as a toxin/egg sack to the grenadier. In general I also tried to emulate the silhouette of the vespids. Cutting the flight stands and adding some rocks on normal bases to get the height and orientation of the models right. The drone is a ripper that got a small cut part from the Gargoyle wings.
Sorry, I shouldn't have linked a video without asking first. I just thought it was easier than explaining. I also used a warrior head on the leader and used different guns to show different specialists
I agree that faceless hord eof NPO's makes sense thematically, but any sort of vanguard beast would work too. And, you know, Tyranids are fully part of the synaptic link so could be given specific spec ops style orders etc.
I have modelled my Tyranid termagants (and a model of the month hormagaunt) as a space marine scouts team. The leader is neurogant node beast? The dude with a brain on its back. And I had fun with spore mines as trip alarms. I also used the rippers on the base of a fleshborer for the tracker. Works rather nicely. I’ve also used a mixture of Von Ryan’s Leapers & barbed gaunts as angels of death. Leapers being assault marines, I modelled some adrenal glands on its chest for the grenadier. I then removed the large scything talons and replaced with the smaller talons, and replaced the back arms with devours from my termagants to make intercessor warriors. I got a impaler cannon from hive guard & used that for my gunner. & the barbed Gaunt is my heavy bolter. And I got the shrike? “Warrior with wings” and I’m using him as my captain.
The direction of KT24 seemed clear to me - no place for a Tyranid using a radio set or moveable barricade!? BUT! I could see a tyranid kit that has equipment 'equivalents' within its own box (synapse brain for radio, spores for mines or smoke grenades, etc). Perhaps it could be a (narrative) box of bugs with the tyranid 'equipment' at the end of the main season (cf Ashes of Faith)? Even if the KT designers don't think it's truly thematic, they need a team!
I have actually been working on homebrew rules for a tyranid kill team lately. I have ripped some of the rules from last edition but balanced them out to make more sense in KT 24. Been really happy so far with how its turning out but still need to balance it out some more to make sure it’s fun to play but still fair.
I bought a copy of the Space Marine Adventures: Tyranid Attack! [2024] in the Spring (before AoD was a thing in KT24) to get 4 of the 6 models from Strike Force Justian (all except Justian and the Eliminator) for cheap. I have been using my old Tyranid plastics (Termagants, Genestealers, and Hormagaunts {proxying for Lictors}) with the board game. I am actually pretty stoked for this mission pack! But I totally agree that we NEED a real Hive Fleet Tyranid KT!!!
Oh, to answer the question I've been experimenting with running my tyranids as nemesis claw using VRLs. Just working out how I want to kitbash them to represent the specialists.
@@BryonSticeMaking the conversions to pull out specific specialists is tough. I would definitely recommend the paint job adding to their unique feature to draw the eye to it. And not that I'm one to complain, but aren't Von Ryan's really pretty huge? I mean, cutting off their overhead claws handles that I guess?
You could use the rules for gellerpox infected. Get two or three big beastly bugs, and then use the melee swarm dudes because there isn't much shooting. Hmm. Then you could use ripper swarms or apores for the little gross guys. Or go big and go home by kitbashing marines so they look like Stukov from Starcraft 2
@@matthewpletsch7523Oh yes, those make sense. I was thinking of using a spore mine because it looks like a brain on tentacles, close enough. But the synaptic tokens actually work for it.
This is what the space marine board game should have been. Throw in 2 extra marines , the other nid models and add a short campaign and boom you have a solid board game that yes will appeal to board gamers. Yes it’s not full kill team rules but for a board game it is solid. Better late than never I guess but again this should have been the space marine board game to begin with .

I modeled Gargoyles into Vespids to play Nids again. I cut the Gargoyle wings down because they are much bigger than the ones from the Vespids.
@@maxreis9534 did you do much to highlight the specialists?

This is probably the best way to use 'nids in Kill Team, at least from the perspective of their place in the lore.

Proxy theorycrafting videos are always the best
Like all great hobbyists, I do my best hobby in my head. This is like a list building video but for hobby

Accurate 2 Hello!
I’ve lost count of how often I get asked about Tyranids in Kill Team.
It's a real shame :'(
I like Nightlords, seems like a great place to use a lictor
6 lictors stuck on 32mm bases? I'm in!

The sniper mission and this one seem like fun little ways to get new players into the basics without stomping them to the ground

Give me a Tyranid kill team or give me death!
Also... Lictors on 40s? suddenly any team is possible!
Finally something Nid related for KT 🙌
If you want kill team boxes to be available, you never want new models to release in KT first if they can be played in 40k.
Wise words. I'm unsure how brutal and cunning will be received!
@GlassHalfDead I'm excited for ratlings. Just hope they aren't as bad as every other non elite army...
"No new models" Except you can add ogryn to the new Ratlings kill team...yeah, sure, only new models.
That's "additional old models" so totally within scope!
I see tyranids and I crawl out of my subterranean tunnels.
It's just how the world works.
Edit: answered the double hello question as a reply.

Our gaming group wrote a home brew team which seems to work, we've tweaked it a few times through play testing but sort of works
New Warriors and Raveners would be amazing
Gellerpox as Nids?
Thanks for the update might do a solo mission if this
Give it A a crack and see how it goes! Marines vs Nids feels like it has almost endless opportunities tbh
@@GlassHalfDead I like the story ideas you can draw from it

I do wonder how Titus, Galadriel, And Chair do as a Kill Team out of this mission pack.
You could also use the Synaptic Tokens from Leviathan for your Drone in Vespid.

Most people just think facts are erroneous anyway!
Facts get in the way of fun!

I had the PS1 Space Hulk game such fun.
The bugs stats remind me of the stats in the starter set for the marines. Just keeping the rules a simple as possible on the stat card.
Oh for sure, the fact this pack includes the lite rules goes to show it's for beginners, and the stats on cards adds to that.
'Nid team could/should be a Lictor and a Nuerolictor ( similar stat lines to the Patriarch from BroodBros )
That or Lictor+Leapers
We need demons
Demons, Custodes, GK, Tyranids. These are the must haves!
Deathwatch too but As they are clearly Phobos, I feel it's too much of an ask.

Like 27, 28, 27....25...26...29...😂😂😂😂
I like to imagine people are liking and disliking with every sentence I say, so as long as I end on an up, we're solid!
@GlassHalfDead actually was hoping each hit count's in some way, a bonus if you will.
I think felgor make a decent proxy source
Sooo do I need some frodo stabbing guys (thanks god he had mithril) for my new hobit team? 😏 Its just random lotr question here 😏
I'm still very undecided on how much I like OR dislike ratlings. We'll see if public opinion can sway me!
